  • In this study, we conducted the study of the merits and demerits of the laser flash and the divided-bar methods for measuring the thermal conductivity of rocks and investigated applicability of the divided-bar apparatus which was developed by KIGAM. The laser flash method can measure thermal diffusivity, specific heat capacity, and thermal conductivity of rocks with even small thickness (< ~3 mm) in the high temperature range($25-200^{\circ}C$) in non-contact mode. For the laser flash method, samples must be uniform and homogeneous. In the case of the divided-bar method, the apparatus measures only thermal conductivity of rock samples at the room temperature. We measured thermal conductivities of 12 rock samples with low density and high porosity using two methods. In the laser flash method, there exist potential errors caused by the effect of pulse dispersion and reflection by various minerals and porosity in rock samples; the difference in thermal conductivity values measured on the front surface and the opposite surface ranges from 0.001 to 0.140 W/mK with the standard deviation of 0.003~0.089 W/mK, which seems to be caused by heterogeneity of rock samples. On the contrary, the divided-bar apparatus shows stable thermal conductivity measurements and relatively small measurement errors; the difference in thermal conductivity values, just as we applied to the laser frash method, is 0.001~0.016 W/mK with the standard deviation 0.001~0.034 W/mK. In turn, the divided-bar method can be applied to more thick samples that are more representative of bulk thermal conductivity.

  • With the increase of the skyscraper center, the development of large-diameter and high-strength reinforcing bars is being carried out to solve the dense reinforcement. In case of the steel reinforced concrete with a small cross section such as beam-column joints, the development length becomes short when straight bars are used. Therefore, it is possible to solve the problem that the development length becomes short by using the bearing strength of the hooked bar and headed bar. In this study, the exterior beam-column joint test of SD700 hooked bar and headed bar with anchorage length of 20db was conducted to extend the development length limitation of hooked bar and headed bar. As a result of the evaluation of the anchorage strength using the design equation by KCI, the average of the [measured value]/[predicted value] ratio was 1.31 for the hooked reinforcing bars. In the case of headed bars, the average of the [measured value]/[predicted value] ratio was 1.12. In addition, in order to compare the anchorage performance of the hooked bar and the headed bar, the measured values were divided by the square root of the compressive strength of the concrete to compare the anchorage strength. Under the same conditions, the anchorage strength of headed bars was 8.5% higher than the hooked bars.

  • The Han River is divided into North and South Korea by NLL(Northern Limit Line) and its area has been blocked by CCL(Civil Control Line) since the Korean War in 1950. Satellite remote sensing, therefore, is uniquely suited to monitoring bar transformation in the region. In river with bar, the characteristics of its physical conditions have a close relationship with bar morphology. In this paper, a monitoring approach of bar transformation in the Han River Estuary is presented using RADARSAT/SAR images from 2000 to 2005 and spatial patterns of bar morphology are presented. it could be said that in the estuary vegetated area and natural levees are developed well, but bars are shifted after an event like a flood. It is also showed that suspended solids such as silt transported through the estuary could contribute highly to a sedimentation environment around Incheon.

  • Objectives : This is the study to understand of the pulse wave factor according to BMI and period of sterility on female, and to confirm the relationship of pulse wave factor among left and right inch, bar and cubit. Methods : The Questions and measurement of the pulse wave were operated with subjects(76 sterile females using on public health center). The measurement of the pulse wave was operated in 6 part of left and right inch, bar and cubit. The pulse wave was prior measured in part of left bar (i.e. interior pulsation part of radial process styloides in left hand), and next was measured in part of left inch and bar. And the pulse wave was operated samely in part of right inch, bar and cubit. Results : The results were as follows. The pulse energy of 6 part of left and right inch, bar and cubit was showed statistical significance and decreased in order of left inch, right inch, left cubit, right cubit, left inch, right bar. The left and right inch and cubit were showed numerical value of normal range, but left and right bar were showed lower pulse eneregy than normal range. Also left and right cubit were showed lower than left and right inch, and higher than left and right bar. In BMI, The pulse energy of left and right inch, cubit and the average of right hand was not showed statistical significance in the range of low-weight, normal, over-weight and obesity. But in the left and right bar and the average of left hand, the pulse energy of over-weight and obesity group were showed significantly higher than low-weight group. And the pulse wave factor was divided the pattern of h1 showing high numerical value in inch (Ap, As, Aw) and the pattern of Wm showing high numerical value in bar and cubit (RAI, Ad) Conclusions : The low pulse energy of bar was significant observation on the setting of oriental medical diagnostic index on sterilitas. Also, in the numerical value pattern of diverse pulse wave factor, it was divided the pattern of high numerical value in inch and the pattern of high numerical value in bar and cubit. On this, we think that the studies need in the future.

The estuary is divided into North and South Korea and its area is blocked by CCL(Civil Control Line). Satellite remote sensing, therefore, is uniquely suited to monitoring bar transformation. Based on SAR signatures for bars, bar transformation is investigated from 2000 to 2005, and monitoring of suspended-silt transportations from terrestrial runoff is tried to understand the morphology during the events of severe rain storm. SAR data did not reveal clearly the bar locations because of most of data acquisitions during high tides from 6.8 m to 9.0 m. Even though the problem, it could be said that in the estuary vegetated area and natural levees are developed well, but bars and shifted after an event like a flood. It is also showed that suspended solids such as silt transported through the estuary could contribute highly to a sedimentation environment around Incheon.

  • In this paper, we proposed the automatical recognition algorithm of bar-code using a vision system, which can be used in the industrial application(code 93). The proposed algorithm extracts the pixels which consist of the bar-code modules unrelated to rotation, then that obtains the elements which consist of bars and spaces. After the obtained elements are divided by nine group, the value of bar-code is recognized. The performance of proposed algorithm is verified through the simulation. The proposed one has good performance.

Concentration of liver TG showed a significant decrement in all Ojeoksangamibang groups than that of control group. 4. Concentration of plasma and liver thiobarbituric acid reactive substance(TBARS) showed a tendence to decrease in Ojeoksangamibang($W{\check{u}}j\bar{i}s\check{a}nji\bar{a}w\grave{e}if\bar{a}ng$) groups. 5. The values of glutathione peroxidase(GSH-Px), superoxide dismutase(SOD) and catalase(CAT) activity showed a significant increment in all Ojeoksangamibang($W{\check{u}}j\bar{i}s\check{a}nji\bar{a}w\grave{e}if\bar{a}ng$) groups than that of control group. 6. The values of plasma aspartate aminotransferase(AST) and alanine aminotransferase(ALT) activity showed no significant different in all treatment group. 7. Concentration of plasma $interleukin(IL)-1{beta}$ showed no significant difference in all the treatment groups. Concentration of plasma IL-6 showed a significant decrement in the 300 mg/kg in Ojeoksangamibang($W{\check{u}}j\bar{i}s\check{a}nji\bar{a}w\grave{e}if\bar{a}ng$) group than that of control group. Concentration of plasma tumor necrosis $factor-{\alpha}(TNF-{\alpha})$ a siginifant decrement in the 200 and 300 mg/kg in Ojeoksangamibang($W{\check{u}}j\bar{i}s\check{a}nji\bar{a}w\grave{e}if\bar{a}ng$) group than that of control group. However the concentration of plasma IL-10 in the 300 mg/kg Ojeoksangamibang($W{\check{u}}j\bar{i}s\check{a}nji\bar{a}w\grave{e}if\bar{a}ng$) groups showed a significant increment than that of control group. 9. In the analysis of reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR), gene expression of $TNF-{\alpha}$, Apo-B and Apo-E in the Ojeoksangamibang($W{\check{u}}j\bar{i}s\check{a}nji\bar{a}w\grave{e}if\bar{a}ng$) groups showed a lower expression than that of control group. However the gene expression of leptin showed no difference in the treatment groups. 10. The ratio of $TNF-{\alpha}$, Apo-B, and Apo-E per ${\beta}-actin$ expression in the Ojeoksangamibang($W{\check{u}}j\bar{i}s\check{a}nji\bar{a}w\grave{e}if\bar{a}ng$) groups showed a significant decrement than that of control group. However The ratio of leptin expression per ${\beta}-actin$ expression showed no significant difference among all the treatment groups. Conclusions: According to above results, in lowering lipid effect, anti-oxidation and control of pro-inflammatory cytokines production, Ojeoksangamibang($W{\check{u}}j\bar{i}s\check{a}nji\bar{a}w\grave{e}if\bar{a}ng$) gives effect.

  • We quantify the relative role of galaxy environment and bar presence on AGN triggering in face-on spiral galaxies using a volume-limited sample with 0.02 < z < 0.055, Mr < 19.5, and σ > 70 km s-1 selected from Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) Data Release 7. To separate their possible entangled effects, we divide the sample into bar and non-bar samples, and each sample is further divided into three environment cases of isolated galaxies, interacting galaxies with a pair, and cluster galaxies. The isolated case is used as a control sample. For these six cases, we measure AGN fractions at a fixed central star formation rate and central velocity dispersion, σ. We demonstrate that the internal process of the bar-induced gas inflow is more efficient in AGN triggering than the external mechanism of the galaxy interactions in groups and cluster outskirts. The significant effects of bar instability and galaxy environments are found in galaxies with a relatively less massive bulge. We conclude that from the perspective of AGN-galaxy coevolution, a massive black hole is one of the key drivers of spiral galaxy evolution. If it is not met, a bar instability helps the evolution, and in the absence of bars, galaxy interactions/mergers become important. In other words, in the presence of a massive central engine, the role of the two gas inflow mechanisms is reduced or almost disappears. We also find that bars in massive galaxies are very decisive in increasing AGN fractions when the host galaxies are inside clusters.
