A Dynamic Output Feedback Variable Structure Controller for Uncertain Systems with Unmatched System Matrix Uncertainty (부정합 시스템 행렬 불확실성을 갖는 시스템을 위한 동적 출력 궤환 가변 구조 제어기)

  • In this paper, a variable structure dynamic output feedback controller with an transformed sliding surface is designed for the improved robust control of a uncertain system under unmatched system uncertainty, matched input matrix uncertainty, and disturbance satisfying some conditions. This paper is extended from the results of the static output feedback VSS in [9]. To effectively remove the reaching phase problems, an initial condition of the dynamic output is determined. The previous some limitations on the dynamic output feedback variable structure controller is overcome in this systematic design. A stabilizing control is designed to generate the sliding mode on the predetermined sliding surface S=0 and as a results the closed loop exponential stability is obtained and proved together with the existence condition of the sliding mode on S=0 for all unmatched system matrix uncertainties. To show the usefulness of the algorithm, a design example and computer simulations are presented.

Increasing Infiltration with Pervious Drainage facilities -The Effect of Simulation in Bun-Dang New town, Korea- (단지개발에 있어 강수량 지하침투 증대를 위한 침투시설의 도입가능성 연구 -분당신도시 사례를 중심으로-)

  • As a site is built up, runoff increases inevitably. This results in water deficit in the site and possible downstream flooding. It may cause irreversible site ecosystem disturbance. This study examined some techniques of increasing infiltration rates in a site development. The possible effects of applying such techniques at a new town development are calculated for four types of land uses-business area, low/high density residential areas, and park area- of Bun-Dang New Town. If the higher infiltration drainage systems are introduced, there may be additional infiltration of the precipitation as much as 59.8% in business area, 74.6% in low density residential area, 51.4% in high density residential area and 32.7% in park area. This much increase of infiltration, or decrease of runoff, may improve site water balance, and thus keep the site ecosystem much healthier.

Automatic Berthing Control of Ship Using Adaptive Neural Networks

  • In this paper, an adaptive neural network controller and its application to automatic berthing control of ship is presented. The neural network controller is trained online using adaptive interaction technique without any teaching data and off-line training phase. Firstly, the neural networks used to control rudder and propeller during automatic berthing process are presented. Secondly, computer simulations of automatic ship berthing are carried out in Pusan bay to verify the proposed controller under the influence of wind disturbance and measurement noise. The results of simulation show good performance of the developed berthing control system.

  • Available transfer capability(ATC) quantifies the viable increase in real power transfer from one point to another in a power system. ATC calculation has predominantly focussed on steady-state viability. In many power systems, point-to-point transfer is not restricted by steady-state limits, but by undesirable dynamic behavior following large disturbance. In this paper, an energy function method for transient stability ATC computation is proposed, which utilizes a between the potential energy and energy function.

  • This paper proposes a new and simple input prediction method for robust servo system. This servo system uses robust tracking control system based on both Coprime Factorization(CF) and Zero Phase Error Tracking control system. The CF control system can be designed simply and systematically. Moreover, this system has not only stability but also robustness and disturbance rejection ability The optical disk tracking servo system can detect only the tracking error. So the new and simple input prediction system proposed in this paper estimates the reference input signal from the tracking error. Numerical simulation results show that the proposed method is effective.

  • Recombinant adenovirus vector systems with strong promoters have been used to achieve high level production of recombinant protein. However, this overexpression system cause some problems such as disturbance of cell physiology and increment of cellular toxicity. Here, we showed a tetracycline-regulated adenovirus expression vector system. Our results showed that the expression level of transgene(p-53) was high and easily regulated by tetracycline. In addition, the maximal gene expression level of the tetracycline-controlled gene expression system was higher than that of the wild type CMV promoter system. Therefore, tetracycline-regulated adenoviral vector system could be applicable for regulatory high-level expression of toxic gene. Also, this system will be useful for functional studies and gene therapy.

  • This paper presents a vibration-rejection control design for a magnetic suspension system which has strong non-linearity, open-loop unstable characteristics, high-order flexible modes, and parameter variations. The target plant to be controlled consists of a U-core electromagnet and a flexible rail. We describe the test rig and formulate the mathematical model and then we set up a control problem as the mixed sensitivity problem where the augmented plant is constructed with frequency weighting functions and the feedback controller is designed by using the H$\infty$ controller. The effectiveness of the designed controller for the magnetic suspension system with high-order flexible modes is validated and justified using several simulations.   • In recent years, both utilities and users have expressed their deep concerns about the quality of electric power. The harmonic is the one of power quality disturbance, it can raise a problem on the power system. In this paper, the increasing application of power electronic equipment [especially (ASDs adjustable speed drives)] on distribution systems has led to a growing concern for harmonic distortion and the resulting impacts on system equipment and operations. The purpose of this study is to calculate the quantity of harmonic voltage by varying the RECT side ASD load and to design the optimal harmonic filter for the elimination of harmonics.
