The exhaust noise of auxiliary engine in ships is directly transmitted to bridge wing with only distance attenuation. It is not easy to find out practical treatment to be applied between exhaust pipe and bridge wing to reduce the transmission of the exhaust noise. In general, therefore, a silencer is fitted to reduce the exhaust noise and correspondingly noise of bridge wing. The silencer should be properly designed under the consideration of the frequency component of the exhaust noise and the required performance such as noise reduction or insertion loss. In general, the gas inside the exhaust pipe flows with high temperature and speed and thus onboard test condition is more adverse than the standard atmospheric condition. In this study, the test method to evaluate silencer performance using a probe microphone is introduced.
In order to evaluate the environmental impact of U anormaly in the drainage system around the Shinbo talc mine area, U contents, their distribution patterns, bioaccumulation and a-radioactivity in stream water, stream sediments and aquatic organisms were investigated. The U contents of stream water attenuated with increasing distance from the mine area. The same attenuation pattern is shown in stream sediments from mine to 0.75 km downstream, although these contain highly enriched U contents (24~83 mg/kg) comparing with the international average concentration of surface soils (0.79~11 mg/kg). However, U content increases abruptly in sediment at 1.5 km downstream, probably due to detrital migration and rediposition of U enriched sediments. Futhermore, enriched U in downstream sediments occur in high proportions of carbonate and Fe-Mn oxide bounded forms, which show high potential of a secondary pollution source. For aquatic organisms, bio accumulation degree of U are in the order: aquatic larvae>black snail>mountain frog>crawfish. Cultured trout by the U enrich groundwater (387 ${\mu}g$/l) shows U accumulation in the part of branchia (CRs 5.25) and bones (CRs 11.2) but not in flesh (CRs 0.03). Total a-radioactivity have been measured in the level as 0.47 nCi/l for groundwater, 2.94~18 nCi/kg${\cdot}$DW for organisms and 93~328 nCi/kg${\cdot}$DW for sediments.

Recently location based services is being expanded into the indoor service that can not access to the outdoor location informations, such as GPS. Thus, the research and development of an indoor positioning system with BLE(Bluetooth Low Energy) iBeacon technology has expanded. However, RSSI (Received Signal Strength Indicator) that is used as the distance information between the terminal and for positioning iBeacon signal has a problem in that distortion occurs, information such as the signal attenuation and the delay due to the characteristics of radio waves. In this paper, we propose a reliable method of verifying iBeacon signal with the signal distortion problems for reliable indoor positioning systems.

This paper presents a modified residual-based EKF (Extended Kalman Filter) for performance improvement of indoor positioning using WiFi RSSI (Received Signal Strength Indicator) measurement. Radio signal strength in indoor environments may have irregular attenuation characteristics due to obstacles such as walls, furniture, etc. Therefore, the performance of the RSSI-based positioning with the conventional trilateration method or Kalman filter is insufficient to provide location-based accurate information services. In order to enhance the performance of indoor positioning, in this paper, error analysis of the distance calculated by using the WiFi RSSI measurement is performed based on the radio propagation model. Then, an IARM (Irregularly Attenuated RSSI Measurement) error is defined. Also, it shows that the IARM error is included in the residual of the positioning filter. The IARM error is always positive. So, it is presented that the IARM error can be estimated by taking the absolute value of the residual. Consequently, accurate positioning can be achieved based on the IEM (IARM Error Mitigated) EKF with the residual modified by using the estimated IARM error. The performance of the presented IEM EKF is verified experimentally.
Beta ray $(^{90}Sr+^{90}Y)$ absorbed dose at tissue surface was measured from the distance of 30cm by use of extrapolation chamber. In the measurement, following factors were considered: effective area of collecting electrode, polarity effect, ion recombination and window attenuation. The measured absorbed dose rate at tissue surface was $1.493{\mu}Gy/sec$ with ${\pm}2.9%$.

We developed a 440MHz surface acoustic wave (SAW) microsensor integrated with pressure-temperature sensors and ID tag. Two piezoelectric substrates were bonded, in which ${\sim}150\;{\mu}m$ cavity was structured. Four sides were completely sealed by JSR photoresist (PR). Pressure sensor was placed on the top substrate, whereas ill tag and temperature sensor were placed on the bottom substrate. Using network analyzer, the developed microsensor was wirelessly tested. Sharp reflection peaks with high S/N ratio, small signal attenuation, and small spurious peaks were observed. All the reflection peaks were well matched with the coupling of mode (COM) simulation results. With a 10mW RF power from the network analyzer, a ${\sim}1$ meter readout distance was observed. Eight sharp ON reflection peaks were observed for ID tag. Temperature sensor was characterized from $20^{\circ}C$ to $200^{\circ}C$. A large phase shift per unit temperature change was observed. The evaluated sensitivity was ${\sim}10^{\circ}/^{\circ}C$.

In environmental Impact assessment, noise impact assessment usually consists of three stages-surveying the existing noise levels by measurements, predicting noise levels induced by construction works and predicting noise levels after the completion of a project. The distance-attenuation relation of a point source, which has been used to predict the noise level due to its simplicity does not consider complex acoustic phenomena like multi-reflection, -diffraction and -absorption due to complex topographic configuration of buildings and terrains. For the consideration of such physical complexities. a noise mapping tool is adopted to produce a series of noise maps, which are those for the present, tot the works of construction and for the future. For accurate noise mapping, acoustical and topographic Information is used. Standard sound power levels and directivities of various construction equipments are need and scheduling of construction processes and locations of the equipments should be provided. In the case of exceeding legal limit, mitigation measures are applied to satisfy the legal limits and subsequent noise map is obtained and checked.
A miniaturized wideband band-pass filter with a 3-dB fractional bandwidth of 109.3% (1.53 GHz to 5.22 GHz), high out-of-band attenuation greater than 25 dB, and wide upper stopband up to 14 GHz is proposed. The design consists of a dual-composite right/left handed resonator, embedded open-circuited stub, and a pair of quarter-wavelength short-circuited stubs. These elements are coupled in the near distance to form a miniature filter with a compact occupied area of 0.21 λg×0.19 λg (≈ 0.013 cm2). The optimized filter has multitransmission poles in the passband, substantially improving the return loss and insertion loss characteristics. The behavior of the passband and stopband is verified against the results of a lumped element model and matrix analysis with a full-wave moment-based analysis and actual measurements. The results of this verification and a comparison with the performance of filters in other references indicate that the proposed filter is very efficient and applicable to compact microwave systems.
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of traditional herbal medicine as a stand-alone treatment group through major English databases due to the lack of RCTs in Korea, and to provide a review of the herbal interventions used. Methods: Using four databases (Pubmed, EMBASE, OASIS, RISS), combination of words such as "Coronavirus" "RCT" "Herb" "Decoction" "TCM" were used. RCTs using herbal medicines to treat coronavirus were searched. Final 4 studies were selected by two authors according to inclusion and exclusion criteria. Results: A total of 1,435 patients were studied. The Chinese herbs used in the treatment group were Shengmai Yin, JingYinGuBiao granules, Jinhua Qinggan granules, and Bufei Huoxue capsules. The intervention group showed greater attenuation of pneumonia lesions on CT. Also, improvement in 6-min walk distance (6MWD), and negative conversion rate in treatment group were reported. Furthermore, scores on the Fatigue Assessment Inventory (FAI) were lower in the herbal group than in the placebo group. The median time to recovery of COVID-19 related symptoms was shorter in TCM group compared to the control group. Reported adverse effects were diarrhea, liver dysfunction, and excessive menstruation, and two papers did not mention side effects in detail. Conclusion: Herbal medicine alone can increase the conversion rate of viral negativity and relieve COVID-19 related symptoms without significant adverse effects.

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to evaluate the dosimetric effects of couch attenuation and air gaps using 3D phantom for prone breast radiation therapy. Materials and method: A 3D printer(Builder Extreme 1000) and computed tomography (CT) images of a breast cancer patient were used to manufacture the customized breast phantom. Eclipse External Beam Planning 13.6 (Varian Medical Systems Palo Alto, CA, USA) was used to create the treatment plan with a dose of 200 cGy per fraction with 6 MV energy. The Optically Stimulated Luminescence Detector(OSLD) was used to measure the skin dose at four points (Med 1, Med 2, Lat 1, Lat 2) on the 3D phantom and ion-chamber (FC65-G) were used to perform the in-vivo dosimetry at the two points (Anterior, Posterior). The Skin dose and in-vivo dosimetry were measured with reference air gap (3 cm) and increased air gaps (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 cm) from reference distance between the couch and 3D phantom. Results: As a result, measurement for the skin dose at lateral point showed a similar value within ${\pm}4%$ compared to the plan. While the air gap increased, skin dose at medial 1 was reduced. And it was also reduced over 7 % when the air gap was more than 3 cm compared to radiation therapy plan. At medial 2 it was reduced over 4 % as well. The changes of dose from variety of the air gap showed similar value within ${\pm}1%$ at posterior. As the air gap was increased, the dose at anterior was also increased and it was increased by 1 % from the air gap distance more than 3 cm. Conclusion: Dosimetrical measurement using 3D phantom is very useful to evaluate the dosimetric effects of couch attenuation and air gaps for prone breast radiation therapy. And it is possible to reduce the skin dose and increase the accuracy of the radiation dose delivery by appling the optimized air gap.
