A Study on the Measurement of Fine Scratches by Scattering of Laser Light (레이저 산란광을 이용한 미소표면 결합의 측정평가법에 관한 연구)

  • This paper is studied about the method to measure the fine scratches on the mirror surfaces, such as the silicon wafer and magnetic memory disk by the optical measuring method. The theoretical background of this analysis is based upon the light scattering theory developed by Beckmann. In this analysis, the roughness in fine scratches is not considered because the aberage roughness is very small compared with the size of fine scratches. Empasis is on quantilaive method of fine scratches by non-contact method. Experiments are followed by the image processing system attached to the CCD Camera. As a results, I propose the new method to measure the size of the fine scratches from the parameters obtained by the computer simulation and experiments.

  • In this review article, in vivo and in vitro wear test methods which measure the wear of tooth and restorative material were discribed. In vivo test, the criteria of each test were reviewed. The merits and limitations were also commented. In vitro tests, three dimensional scanning methods which scan the occlusal tooth surface three dimensionally were described. Profilometer method, Pin on disk method, laser scanner method were reviewed and the limitations of each test were commented. Additionally, the structer of the three dimensional scanner which has been developed in Zurich university and has been reputated as the most accurate one was described. This study was partly supported by 1997 post-doctoral foreign study program.

  • The effect of thermal deformation of optical pick-up due to laser diode(LD) and LD driving integrated circuit on the optical performance of digital versatile disk(DVD) optical system was analyzed using the finite element analysis with initial surface residual stress conditions, and results were compared with the measured results with holographic interferometry. Ray tracing was performed using the deformed configuration of optical system.

  • It is well-known that the micro fabrication technology of micro parts are the high energy beam or silicon-based micro machining method such as LIGA Process, Laser machining, photolithography and etching technology. But, for fabricating complex 3-D structure it is better to use mechanical machining. This machining method by the mechanical machine tool with nanometer accuracy is getting attention in some field-especially micro optics machining such as grating, holographic lens, micro lens array, fresnel lens, encoder disk etc.. In this study, we survey the micro fabrication by mechanical cutting method and set up the mechanical micro machining system. And we carried out micro cutting experiments for micro parts with v-shape groove.

  • In this paper, using micro-stereolithography technology, I fabricated a liquid analyzer to measure ion concentration of a solution. Micro-stereolithography is a technology to fabricate 3-dimensional structure by applying laser beam on liquid photo-polymer. This technology makes it possible to do preassemble fabrication without any extra assembling step after the process. So, the liquid analyzer could be fabricated at very low cost with very simple process by micro-stereolithography technology. The liquid analyzer consists of a chamber for containing the solution, a pump using piezoelectric effect of PZT disk, a static mixer and a sensor for measuring ion concentration using Pt electrodes.

  • Ultra small optical drive or PCMCIA type needs a focusing actuator because or applying Blue Laser and enhancing compatibility according to disk physical specification. Based on this need, this paper presents a novel focusing actuator adapted for ultra small optical drive of PCMCIA type. The focusing actuator using Lorenz force generated consists of coil, magnets and plate springs of pivoting. The design issues of the focusing actuator are the flexibility to focus direction, the rigidity to track direction and the higher natural mode of the moving part. For settling these Issues, this paper present mechanical design, computer simulations and test results of the realized focusing actuator. Finally, suitability and usefulness of the focusing actuator was demonstrated by the comparison of simulations and test results in a view of the possibility adapted for ultra small optical drive.

  • Piezoelectric element is deformed by driving voltage pattern. We developed a device of moving LD(laser disk) to use the rapid deformation of piezoelectric element. If driving voltage is changed very rapidly, the difference of acceleration is accurred between spindle motor and LD. To move LD on turn table is attained by utilizing difference of acceleration. This paper describes theoretical and experimental results about the movement of LD and presents to measure the center of mass LD with unbalance force.

통계계산분야의 현재와 미래

  • 통계계산, Statistical Computing, 또는 Numerical Computation for Statistics라고 불리우는 통계의 한 분야는 컴퓨터 산업에 의한 제3의 산업혁명이 일고 있는 현대에서 매우 중요한 위치를 차지하고 있음은 두말 할 것도 없다. 특히 통계학이 컴퓨터가 발전하면서 더욱 더 학문적 발전에 박차를 가하고 있다는 것도 의심할 여지가 없다. 통계가 다루는 데이터는 적은 양으로부터 방대한 양을 다루고 있기 때문에 컴퓨터는 필수불가결한 파트너가 되었다. 1980년 초반에 16비트 컴퓨터가 개발되면서, 통계를 처리하는 장소가 전자계산소로부터 사무실로 옮겨 오기 시작했고, 최근에는 70MIPS이상의 속도를 갖고 있는 탁상용 Workstation이 개발되어 통계학자들의 마음을 설레게 하고 있다. 또한 대량의 데이터를 저장할 수 있는 Laser Compact Disk들이 개발되어 통계분야 및 통계계산분야의 발전에 기대가 더 모아지게 되었다. 그러면 컴퓨터가 발전되고 있는데 왜 통계계산분야의 발전이 필요하며, 현재까지 통계계산분야는 어느 단계까지 와 있으며, 미래를 위한 통계계산분야는 어떻게 변화할 것인지를 한국의 실정에 기초를 두고 논해 보고자 한다.

Streptococcus Mutans Biofilm Inhibition Effect of Indocyanine Green and Near Infrared Diode Laser (Indocyanine Green과 근적외선 다이오드 레이저의 Streptococcus mutans 세균막에 대한 억제 효과)

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of Indocyanine Green (ICG) and near-infrared (NIR) diode laser on Streptococcus mutans biofilms depending on ICG concentrations. S. mutans biofilms were formed on a Hydroxyapatite disk, and 0.5, 1.0, 2.0, 3.0, 4.0, 5.0 mg/mL ICG solutions dissolved in sterile distilled water and a NIR diode laser having a power of 300 mW and a wavelength of 808 nm were applied to the biofilms. The temperature changes of the biofilm surface according to the concentrations of the ICG solution were measured using a 1-channel thermocouple thermometer. Compared to the control group, in the groups with only the 3.0, 4.0, 5.0 mg/mL ICG solution application, and in the groups with the 1.0, 2.0, 3.0, 4.0, 5.0 mg/mL ICG solution application and light irradiation, a statistically significant decrease in the bacterial counts were observed. The temperature increase according to the concentration of the ICG solutions was 9.53℃, 10.43℃, 11.40℃, 12.10℃, 12.67℃, and 13.63℃ in ICG solutions of 0.5, 1.0, 2.0, 3.0, 4.0, and 5.0 mg/mL respectively. This study presents the potential for clinical application of ICG and NIR diode lasers as a new method for preventing dental caries.

Effect of Potassium Iodide on Erythrosine-Mediated Photodynamic Therapy on Streptococcus Mutans Biofilms (Streptococcus mutans 바이오필름에 대한 에리스로신 매개 광역동 치료 시 potassium iodide의 효과)

  • The aim of this in-vitro study is to evaluate the effect of potassium iodide (KI) on erythrosine-mediated photodynamic therapy (PDT) against Streptococcus mutans biofilms. S. mutans ATCC 25175 was cultured to form a biofilm on a hydroxyapatite disk. After diluting erythrosine to 20 μM and KI to 10, 50, and 100 mM, respectively, PDT was performed. The number of surviving bacteria was calculated as colony forming units (CFU)/mL and the statistical significance of the difference between groups was confirmed by Bonferroni post-hoc analysis. Cell viability was visually evaluated using confocal laser scanning microscopy (CLSM). As a result of the experiment, a significant decrease (p < 0.05) in CFU was observed in the experimental groups in which PDT was performed after applying KI regardless of the concentration of KI. In addition, a significant reduction (p < 0.05) in CFU was observed in the experimental group to which 100 mM KI was applied compared to 10 mM KI. The same results were confirmed when observing CLSM. KI significantly improved the efficacy of erythrosine-mediated PDT on S. mutans biofilms at all concentrations. This may compensate for the low sensitivity of PDT to biofilm-state bacteria strains, but it is necessary to establish an optimal clinical protocol through further research.
