An Algorithm for Joint Reliability Importance in Networks

  • 네트워크를 설계하거나 평가하는데 있어 중요한 문제 중 하나는 그 네트워크를 구성하는 요소들간의 상대적 중요도(importance)에 관한 문제이다. 이런 중요도를 나타내는 여러 가지 측도들 중 하나인 Joint Reliability Importance(JRI)는 Hong & Lie(1993)에 의해 소개되었으며, 네 가지 파생된 서브그래프의 신뢰성을 구하여 JRI를 계산하는 방법이 제시되었다. 본 연구에서는 minimal path set을 이용하여 파생되는 서브 그래프 신뢰성 계산에서의 중복되는 계산과정을 줄임으로써 JRI를 보다 효율적으로 구하는 방법을 제시하고자 한다.

  • 본 논문에서는 하이퍼큐브보다 망 비용이 개선된 상호연결망 HCN(n,n)의 임의의 두 노드간에 노드중복하지 않는 n+1개의 병렬경로를 구성하는 방법을 제시하고, 그 결과를 통하여 HCN(n,n)의 고장지름이 dia(HCN(n,n))+4 이하임을 보인다. 이러한 병렬경로는 노드간에 메시지를 전송하는 시간을 줄일 수 있으며, HCN(n,n)의 노드 몇 개가 고장이 발생해도 통신지연시간이 발생하지 않음을 의미한다.

Backup path Setup Algorithm based on the Bandwidth Sharing in Mesh Networks (메쉬 구조의 망에서 대역 공유를 통한 복구 경로 설정 알고리즘)

  • Path setup considering QoS is one of the main problems to solve in Internet traffic engineering. In network restoration that is one of the traffic engineering components, to establish a backup path or backup path for a working path to be protected is the main task. The backup path should have enough bandwidth to guarantee the working paths. Thus this work requires the QoS routing solution that is to set up a backup path as well as a working path at the same time provisioning enough bandwidth. In this paper, we propose an algorithm to setup a backup path that shares the bandwidth of other backup paths whose working path does not pass along the same link with the working path we are considering. In this way we can reduce much bandwidth consumption caused by setting up backup paths. We also analyze the disjoint path computation algorithms. Finally we show simulation results how the algorithm can reduce the bandwidth consumption and how it will affect blocking when we setup paths.

Disjointed Multipath using Energy Efficient Face Routing in Wireless Sensor Networks (무선 센서 망에서 에너지 효율적인 페이스 라우팅을 활용한 분리된 다중 경로 방안)

  • In wireless sensor networks, the multipath prefers energy efficient routing method due to the characteristic of low-power sensor which uses geographic method to transmit data packet through information of the neighbor nodes. However, when multipath meets the routing fail area called hole area, path overlap problem can occur, resulting in failed maintenance of disjoint multipath. To solve this problem, multipath research studies have been performed to exploit the modeling and detouring method in routing fail area by keeping the disjoint multipath. However, in an energy point of view, additional method like modeling can lead to a lot of energy consumption of sensor node. Moreover, lots of energy consumption of sensor node can shorten the life span of sensor network. In this study, we proposed an energy efficient geographic routing by keeping the disjoint multipath in routing fail area. The proposed scheme exploited the face routing using the geographic recovery method without additional method like modeling.

  • Routing and wavelength assignment(RWA) problem is an important issue in optical transport networks based on wavelength division multiplexing(WDM) technique. It is typically solved using a combination of linear programming and graph coloring, or path selection based graph algorithms. Such methods are either complex or make extensive use of heuristics. In this paper we propose a novel and efficient approach which basically obtains the maximum edge disjoint paths (EDPs) for each source-destination demand pair. And those EDPs obtained are stored in Lookup Table and used for the update of weight matrix. Routes are determined in order by the weight matrix for the demand set. The comprehensive computer simulation shows that the Proposed algorithm uses similar or fewer wavelengths with significantly less execution time than bounded greedy approach (BGA) for EDP which is currently known to be effective in practice.

A Greedy Merging Method for User-Steered Mesh Segmentation

  • In this paper, we discuss the mesh segmentation problem which divides a given 3D mesh into several disjoint sets. To solve the problem, we propose a greedy method based on the merging priority metric defined for representing the geometric properties of meaningful parts. The proposed priority metric is a weighted function using five geometric parameters, those are, a distribution of Gaussian map, boundary path concavity, boundary path length, cardinality, and segmentation resolution. In special, we can control by setting up the weight values of the proposed geometric parameters to obtain visually better mesh segmentation. Finally, we carry out an experiment on several 3D mesh models using the proposed methods and visualize the results.

  • BDD is a well-known alternative to the conventional Boolean logic method in fault tree analysis. As the size of fault tree increases, the calculation time and computer resources for BDD dramatically increase. A new failure path search and path restructure method is proposed for efficient calculation of CS and MCS from BDD. Failure path grouping and bottom-up path search is proved to be efficient in failure path search in BDD and path restructure is also proved to be used in order to reduce the number of CS comparisons for MCS extraction. With these newly proposed methods, the top event probability can be calculated using the probability by ASDMP(Approximate Sum of Disjoint MCS Products), which is shown to be equivalent to the result by the conventional MCUB(Minimal Cut Upper Bound) probability.

A Path Restoration Method Independent of Failure Location in All-Optical Networks (전광 통신망에서 장애 위치에 독립적인 경로 복구 방법)

  • In this paper, a path restoration method independent of failure location in all-optical networks is proposed and its wavelength requirements are calculated. In the proposed method, since a single backup wavelength is used for any link failure, a node can consist of only fixed wavelength transmitters, resulting in the levels node cost. Hence, restoration process can be triggered just after the failure detection, if combined with edge-disjoint path restoration method. This feature and the parallel cross-connection message transfer technique proposed in this paper make the restoration process faster. Also, it is shown the wavelength requirements in the proposed method are similar to the ones in the method using tunable backup wavelength, resulting in little increment for transmission cost.

  • It is very hard, but important to sustain path stability for a reliable communication in mobile ad hoc networks. We propose a novel source routing protocol that establishes a group path with virtual multiple paths to enable a robust communication. The entire mobile nodes form a disjoint set of clusters: Each has its clusterhead as a cluster leader and a unique cluster label to identify itself from other clusters. A group path is a sequence of cluster labels instead of nodes and the nodes with the same label collaborate to deliver packets to a node with next label on the group path. We prove by resorting to simulation that our proposed protocol outperforms the existing key routing protocols, even for a network with a high node mobility and a high traffic.

  • Energy efficiency, low latency and scalability for wireless sensor networks are important requirements, especially, the wireless sensor network consist of a large number of sensor nodes should be minimized energy consumption of each node to extend network lifetime with limited battery power. An efficient algorithm and energy management technology for minimizing the energy consumption at each sensor node is also required to improve transfer rate. Thus, this paper propose no-overlap multi-pass protocol provides for sensor data transmission in the wireless sensor network environment. The proposed scheme should minimize network overhead through reduced a sensor data translation use to searched multi-path and added the multi-path in routing table. Proposed routing protocol may minimize the energy consumption at each node, thus prolong the lifetime of the sensor network regardless of where the sink node is located outside or inside the received signal strength range. To verify propriety proposed scheme constructs sensor networks adapt to current model using the real data and evaluate consumption of total energy.
