Isotope ratios of K, Ca, Cr and Fe are measured at cool plasma condition generated using high carrier flow rate and relatively low RF power of 900 W. Background molecular ions are suppressed to below 100 counts which give isobaric interference to the analytes. The background ions show different attenuation characteristics at increased carrier flow rate and hence for each element different carrier flow rate should be used to measure isotope ratios without isobaric interference. Isotope ratios are measured at both scan and peak-hopping modes and compared with certified or accepted ratios. The measured isotope ratios show some mass discrimination against low mass due to low ion energy induced from a copper shield to eliminate capacitive coupling of plasma with load coil.
The present study is designed to investigate the effect of perceptive, emotional and semantic distinctiveness on retrieval-induced forgetting(RIF). Experiment 1 was designed to construct a category and category list for RIF experimental paradigm and to investigate the effects of perceptual distinctness on retrieval-induced forgetting. It was used for the list consisting of the six categories and six words in each category list. In controlled conditions, all the stimuli were presented in black and Gothic. In contrast, perceptual distinctiveness conditions, half of the category list were presented in red and Gungseoche. RIF was observed in all conditions. Experiment 2 was designed to investigate the effects of semantic and emotional distinctiveness on retrieval-induced forgetting. In neutral conditions, adjectives related to items were added. In the emotional distinctiveness condition, half of the items in the category were manipulated in such a way as to add the negative adjectives. In the semantic distinctiveness condition, half of the items in the category were manipulated in such a way as to add the inappropriate adjective. As a result, RIF occurred in the neutral condition, but RIF did not occur in both the emotional discrimination condition and the semantic discrimination. These results suggest the possibility that the RIF will not occur when the distinctiveness occurs within a categorical relationship.
The purpose of this study is to verify whether it is possible for participants to discriminate between innocent and guilty suspects when they are exposed to criminal information utilizing an autobiographical implicit association test (aIAT). A total of 49 college students were randomly assigned to guilty group, innocent-aware group, or innocent-unaware group. Participants performed an aIAT to detect suspects after performing either mock crime or control task. It was verified that innocent suspect and guilty suspect exposed with crime information could be distinguished through D-score and reaction time, converted to symbolize strength of the association between guilty sentences, innocent sentences, and truth sentences. As a result of the analysis, guilty group showed significantly higher D-score than both innocent-aware group and innocent-unaware group. guilty group also showed faster response time in true-guilty condition than true-innocent condition. This shows that the association of true-guilty conditions is stronger than that of true-innocent conditions. On the other hand, the innocent-aware group showed a faster response time in the true-innocent condition than the true-guilty condition, and innocent-unaware group showed no significant difference between the two conditions. Through this, it was confirmed that innocent suspects exposed to criminal information can be discriminated according to the aIAT pattern, which has a faster reaction rate to the truth and innocence union than the guilty group. This study confirmed that suspects exposed to criminal information can be effectively discriminated using aIAT, and further suggests the usefulness and potential of aIAT in the field of lie detection.
Medical information is one of significant private information that includes in-dividual's own diverse information. Once opened, it exposes one's health condition and medical history to a third party, which could bring about serious troubles. On this account, the third parties are of much concerns about the information. If medical information collected through various routes is used with another purpose, oilier than the initial intention, it might cause serious results beyond one's control. Thus, it is essential to keep the information confidential. Also, the discrimination based on the medical information ought to be banned because it is likely to happen that exposed information socially stigmatizes a person, being discriminated in a work place or a school when he/she is employed or gets an insurance. In the current system, only medical institutions are responsible for protecting or securing medical records. Despite the information technology development and the increased interests in medical information, there are quite a few limitations in legal, technical, and administrative aspects. All kinds of organizations, involved in collecting and using the information, as well as medical institutions primarily producing and managing it should share the responsibilities.
It is very important to detect and identify small anomalies and component failures for the safe operation of complex and large-scale artifacts such as nuclear power plants. Each diagnostic technique has its own advantages and limitations. These facts inspire us not only to enhance the capability of diagnostic techniques but also to integrate the results of diagnostic subsystems in order to obtain more accurate diagnostic results. The article describes the outline of four diagnostic techniques developed for the condition monitoring of the fast breeder reactor "Monju". The techniques are (1) estimation technique of important state variables based on a physical model of the component, (2) a state identification technique by non-linear discrimination function applying SVM (Support Vector Machine), (3) a diagnostic technique applying WT (Wavelet Transformation) to detect changes in the characteristics of measurement signals, and (4) a state identification technique effectively using past cases. In addition, a hybrid diagnostic system in which a final diagnostic result is given by integrating the results from subsystems is introduced, where two sets of values called confidence values and trust values are used. A technique to determine the trust value is investigated under the condition that the confidence value is determined by each subsystem.

As the interest on healthcare area in pursuit of well-being, health etc is increasing, u-Healthcare service that can monitor the condition of oneself's health anytime & anywhere is getting an attention. The existing health information system is consist of structure supporting the storage of estimation value and just simple display. But this needs to get a harmonious interaction to provide the health information exactly and speedily for efficient condition confirmation and diagnosis in health information system, In relation to this, this study proposed the developmental contents about visualization engine providing the beuer information discrimination and more user-friendly in various service of u-Healthcare.
In this paper, we describe a study on the influence of the frequency variation of normal vibration using an integrated tactile display. It is necessary to consider this study because we want to find a method of displaying finer texture and know that the perception of fine textures is heavily influenced by temporal variation. Our tactile display system used in this experiment can simulate the micro shapes and roughness of surface textures by individual drives of a 6x8 pin array. Two experiments are performed. The first is a psychophysical experiment on the definition and range decision of roughness, and through the experiment, we clear up the meaning of roughness. The second is the main experiment about the frequency variation of normal vibration. We find the correlation between the vibration frequency and the texture and the condition for better display and perception of fine surfaces. The experimental results yielded two pieces of information. One is that lateral movement affects texture discrimination, and another is that normal vibration can make the perceived texture feel finer than real texture. That is, the vibrating stimulus is more effective for displaying a fine surface than static pressure, and it makes possible to display finer texture, exceeding the physical limit of the device.

This paper discusses the feasibility of ultrasonic C-scan technique for nondestructive evaluation of spot weld quality. Ultrasonic evaluation for spot weld quality was performed by immersion method with the mechanical and the electronic scanning of point-focussed ultrasonic beam(25 MHz). For the sake of the approach to the quantitative measurement of nugget diameter and the discrimination of the corona bond from nugget, preliminary infinitesimal gap experiment by newton ring is tried in order to set up the optimum ultrasonic test condition. Ultrasonic image data obtained were confirmed and compared by optical microscope and SAM(Scanning Acoustic Microscope) observation of the spot-weld cross section. The results show that the nugget diameter can be measured with the accuracy of 1.0mm, and voids included in nugget can be detected to $10{\mu}m$ extent with simplicity and accuracy. Finally, it was found that it is necessary to make a profound study of definite discrimination of corona bond from nugget and the approach of quantitative evaluation of nugget diameter by utilizing the various image processing techniques.

When the stator windings of 3 phase induction motors are in wrong condition, the mutual inductive responses between windings can be utilized for the purpose of diagnosing motors in that fault windings affect even the responses by DC excitation. Three phase induction motors are supposed to generate consistent inductive voltages at the remaining windings when exciting DC current is given to one of 3 windings, while the inconsistence of their voltages indicates the existence of disorder at electric motors. This study describes how the exciting current to one of three windings cause the other windings to create induced voltages, analyzing responses by transfer functions, and discloses whether or not the balance relation at two windings is normal in the way of measuring the differential voltage of their outputs. For experiment, common analog multi-testers is used for applying exciting current and measuring the output signal to confirm whether the proposed method is useful enough to be able to discriminate wrong polarities of windings onboard vessels including also the case of exciting current by AC.
Objectives: Sudden sensorineural hearing loss (SSHL) is considered an ENT emergency. Despite being a well-recognized condition, SSHL remains one of the most controversial issues in otology. Nowadays, more and more patients have an interest in Oriental medicine for treatment of SSHL. So, to ascertain the therapeutic effect of Oriental Medicine on SSHL, nineteen cases of SSHL patients who had taken Oriental medical therapy in Kyung Hee Oriental Medical Hospital were examined and analyzed. Methods: Nineteen patients who received over 10 times acupuncture therapy and a minimum 2 weeks of herbal medicine from Sep. 1, 2007 to Aug. 31, 2008 were examined and analyzed. The patients who were in the categories below were excluded: - within 7 days after onset - didn't fulfill 10 times acupuncture therapy - failed to recheck hearing outcome after treatment - less than 30dB at mean dB from 250Hz${\sim}$4000Hz. Results: The patients consisted of 12 men and 7 women with a mean age of 45.63 years (19${\sim}$76). Before treatment, 17 patients had tinnitus, 16 patients had pressure in the ear and 6 patients had dizziness, and mean dB of all patients was 66.89 dB. After treatment, 9 patients still had tinnitus, 4 patients felt pressure in the ear and 2 patents felt dizziness, and mean dB of all patients was 54.57dB. After treatment, 9 patients showed effectiveness in improving both hearing level and speech discrimination, 6 patients showed effectiveness only on speech discrimination and 4 patients showed no therapeutic effect. Conclusion: Oriental medical therapy had some therapeutic effects on SSHL even it was started 7 days after onset of the disease.
