Geometric nonlinear performance simulation and analysis of complex modern buildings and industrial products require high-performance shell elements. Balancing multiple aspects of performance in the one geometric nonlinear analysis element remains challenging. We present a new shell element, flat shell DKMGQ-CR (Co-rotational Discrete Kirchhoff-Mindlin Generalized Conforming Quadrilateral), for linear and geometric nonlinear analysis of both thick and thin shells. The DKMGQ-CR shell element was developed by combining the advantages of high-performance membrane and plate elements in a unified coordinate system and introducing the co-rotational formulation to adapt to large deformation analysis. The effectiveness of linear and geometric nonlinear analysis by DKMGQ-CR is verified through the tests of several classical numerical benchmarks. The computational results show that the proposed new element adapts to mesh distortion and effectively alleviates shear and membrane locking problems in linear and geometric nonlinear analysis. Furthermore, the DKMGQ-CR demonstrates high performance in analyzing thick and thin shells. The proposed element DKMGQ-CR is expected to provide an accurate, efficient, and convenient tool for the geometric nonlinear analysis of shells.

To analyze the behavior of a soil beam under pore water pressure, the results of analytical solutions and finite element analysis (FEM) were compared quantitatively. In contrast to the results of the analytical solution, the horizontal stress obtained from the FEM did not show a symmetrical distribution. On the other hand, the horizontal stress became closer to symmetrical distribution as the number of elements of the soil beam were increased. A comparison of the horizontal stresses from the analytic solution with those obtained from Gaussian points of FEM showed that the magnitude of the tensile stress from the FEM using 3 elements was 6% of the maximum value of the analytical solution and the compressive stress from the FEM using the same elements was 37% of the maximum value of the analytical solution. The magnitude of the tensile stress from the FEM using 6 elements was 61% of the maximum value of the analytical solution and the magnitude of the compressive stress from the FEM using the elements was 83% of the maximum value of the analytical solution. Vertical stresses, which were obtained from the analytical solution, showed a continuous distribution with the depth of the soil beam, whereas the vertical stresses from the FEM showed a discrete distribution corresponding to each element. The results also showed that the average value of the vertical stresses of each element was close to that of the pore water pressure. A comparison of the vertical displacements computed at the near vertical center line of the soil beam from the FEM with those of the analytical solution showed that the magnitude of the vertical displacement from FEM using 3 elements was 35% of the value of the analytical solution and the magnitude of the vertical displacement from FEM using 6 elements was 57% of the value of the analytical solution.

A remeshing algorithm using tetrahedral elements has been developed, which is adapted to the mesh density map constructed by a posteriori error estimation. In the finite element analyses of metal forging processes, numerical error increases as deformation proceeds due to severe distortion of elements. In order to reduce the numerical error, the desired mesh sizes in each region of the workpiece are calculated by a posteriori error estimation and the density map is constructed. Piecewise density functions are then constructed with the radial basis function in order to interpolate the discrete data of the density map. The sample mesh is constructed based on the point insertion technique which is adapted to the density function and the mesh size is controlled by moving and deleting nodes to obtain optimal distribution according to the mesh density function and the quality optimization function as well. After finishing the redistribution process of nodes, a tetrahedral mesh is constructed with the redistributed nodes, which is adapted to the density map and resulting in good mesh quality. A goodness and adaptability of the constructed mesh is verified with a testing measure. The proposed remeshing technique is applied to the finite element analyses of forging processes.

The mathematical model of the power substation is proposed. The substation esteems as a set of the equipment elements which integrated common connections and electromagnetic field. Some capabilities of model represented by both electric networks and a discrete logical model demonstrated by non-directional graph. The model can be useful for solution of the problem of diagnostic of the high-voltage equipment.

This paper focuses on the flexural behavior of RC beams externally strengthened with Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymers (CFRP) fabric. A non-linear finite element (FE) analysis strategy is proposed to support the beam flexural behavior experimental analysis. A development system (QUEBRA2D/FEMOOP programs) has been used to accomplish the numerical simulation. Appropriate constitutive models for concrete, rebars, CFRP and bond-slip interfaces have been implemented and adjusted to represent the composite system behavior. Interface and truss finite elements have been implemented (discrete and embedded approaches) for the numerical representation of rebars, interfaces and composites.

The design of structural engineering optimization is to minimize the cost. This problem has many objective functions formulating section and shape as a function of the included discrete variables. simulated annealing, genetic algerian and TABU algerian are searching methods for optimum values. The object of this reserch Is comparing the result of TABU algorithm, and verifying the efficiency of TABU algorithm in structural optimization design field. For the purpose, this study used a solid truss of 25 elements having 10 nodes, and size optimization for each constraint and load condition of Geodesic ome, and shape optimization of Cable Dome for verifying spatial structures by the application of TABU algorithm.

This paper describes a simple routing control system. We propose achieving high-speed data transmission without modifying the data frame configuration. To add a routing control signal, called the "labeling signal" in this paper, to the data frame, we use a frequency modulation technique on the transmitted frame. This means you need not change the data frame when you transmit additional signals. Using a prototype system comprising a field-programmable gate array and discrete elements, we investigate the system performance and devise a method to achieve high resolution. A three-channel routing control for a 10 Gb/s data frame was achieved, which confirms the advantages of the proposed system.
Wireless smart sensors, which have become popular for monitoring applications, are an attractive option for implementing structural control systems, due to their onboard sensing, processing, and communication capabilities. However, wireless smart sensors pose inherent challenges for control, including delays from communication, acquisition hardware, and processing time. Previous research in wireless control, which focused on semi-active systems, has found that sampling rate along with time delays can significantly impact control performance. However, because semi-active systems are guaranteed stable, these issues are typically neglected in the control design. This work achieves active control with smart sensors in an experimental setting. Because active systems are not inherently stable, all the elements of the control loop must be addressed, including data acquisition hardware, processing performance, and control design at slow sampling rates. The sensing hardware is shown to have a significant impact on the control design and performance. Ultimately, the smart sensor active control system achieves comparable performance to the traditional tethered system.
This papar presents an analysing method of radial force densities acting on each stator tooth of an induction motor with skewed slots. Two-dimensional finite element method is used for electromagnetic Held analysis of an induction motor, and skew effects are considered by coupling several disks cut by planes perpendicular to the shaft. Radial force densities as a source of vibration are calculated along the surface elements of each stator tooth and its time harmonics are examined by discrete Fourier decomposition.

In the analysis pre-cast large panel structures, we can use the new discrete analyzing method to be consisted of rigid bodies. Because the pre-cast panels we still more rigid than the connection, the rigid element method is more efficient numerical method than F. E. M. The characteristics of R. E. M. is that strains in element are not occurred by external loadings and the deformation of the structures by external loadings is transmitted through springs around elements. In this study, we focus on the comparison of the results from the R. E. M. and the F. E. M. in order to establish the validity of the R. E. M. to analysis of pre-cast panel structures.
