A Study on Flow Zone Development and Bottom Change by Propeller Jets from Ships (선박추진기에 의한 흐름발달과 해저면변화에 대한 연구)

  • The flow zone through propeller jets are used in evaluating the environmental and constructional effects of navigation on the waterway. It relies on the characteristics of ships and water depth. A numerical model using the momentum theory of the propeller and Shield's diagram was developed in a restricted waterway. Equations for discharge are presented based on thrust coefficients and propeller speed and are the most accurate means of defining discharge. Approximate methods for discharge are developed based on applied ship's power. Equations for discharge are as a function of applied power, propeller diameter, and ship speed. Water depth of the waterway and draft of the shop are also necessary for the calculation of the grain size of the initial motion. The velocity distribution of discharge from the propeller was simulated by the Gaussian normal distribution function. The shear velocity and shear stress were from the Sternberg's formula. Case studies to show the influence of significant factors on sediment movement induced by the ship's propeller at the channel bottom are presented.

An Experimental Study of Discharge Coefficient with Non-Circular Effervescent Type Twin-fluid Nozzle (비원형 Effervescent Type 이유체노즐의 Discharge Coefficient에 관한 실험적 연구)

  • An experimental study was carried out to investigate the injection characteristics of non-circular effervescent type twin-fluid nozzles. For this purpose, two types of non-circular nozzles (E1, E2) and one kind of circular nozzle (C) were used. At this time, the Aerorator mounted on the nozzle used three different diameters to match the aspect ratio with the nozzle exit area. Therefore, experiments were performed according to three aspect ratios for each nozzle, and a total experiments were conducted. Experiments were carried out by controlling the amount of air flowing after fixing the flow rate of the liquid, and the nozzle internal pressure and SMD were measured, and the jet image was taken from the nozzle. The discharge coefficients of the three kinds of nozzles were compared with the conventional equation and the Jedelsky's equation, and the Jedelsky's equation was found to be about 4 times larger. The droplet size (SMD) injected from the nozzle was found to be smaller in the non-circular shape than in the circular shape, which is expected to be caused by the difference of the discharge coefficient values.

  • A multiply-connected network unsteady flow model for the main reach of the Han River is developed. It is a variable parameter model which allows variable roughness coefficient for each computational point according to the spatial position and the value of discharge. Sensitivities of the model to roughness coefficient and weir-flow discharge coefficient are tested, and as a result Manning's roughness coefficient is selected as the calibration parameter. The model is calibrated and verified using the records of the past flood events. A modified Gauss-Newton method is used for the optimal calibration of roughness coefficients. From the calibration of variable parameter model, spatial variation and discharge dependence of Manning's roughness coefficient are identified. That is, the roughness coefficient is higher for the upstream reach of the Wangsook stream Junction, and it decreases as the discharge increases. It turns out through the verification that the stages calculated by the variable parameter model agree better with the observed than those by the conventional single parameter model. Spatial variation of the roughness coefficient appears to be more significant than the dependence of the discharge.

  • For quantitative understanding of gas discharge phenomena, we should know electron collision cross section. $GeH_4$ is used in many applications with $Si_2H_6$ gas, such as amorphous alloy, a thin film of silicon and solar cell. Therefore, we understand the electron transport characteristics and analysed the electron transport coefficients, the electron drift velocity W, the longitudinal and transverse diffusion coefficient $ND_L$ and $ND_T$, and the ionization coefficient $\alpha$/N in $GeH_4$gas over the E/N range from 0.01 to 1000 Td by two-term approximation of the Boltzmann equation.

  • Manning's roughness coefficient for the Han River (from Paldang dam to Indo Bridge) is estimated by one-dimensional unsteady flow model, NETWORK. The entire river is divided into two regions, one region of Paldang dam to Kwangjang, and another region of Jamsu Bridge to Indo Bridge, and changes of the roughness coefficient according to changes in discharge are estimated using data of the past flood events. Estimated roughness coefficients are compared with previous results. Finally, the stage variation according to the variation of channel roughness is presented.

  • In this papers, we proposed the new method in order to diagnosis aging state of transformers. For wavelet transform, Daubechies filter is used, we can obtain wavelet coefficients which is used to extract feature of statistical parameters (maximum value, average value, dispersion skewness, kurtosis) about each acoustic emission signal. Also, these coefficients are used to identify normal and fault signal of internal partial discharge in transformer. As improved method for classification use neural network. Extracted statistical parameters are input into an back-propagation neural network. The number of neurons of hidden layer are obtained through Result of Cross-Validation. The network, after training, can decide whether the test signal is early aging state, alst aging state or normal state. In quantity analysis, capability of proposed method is superior to compared that of classical method.

  • Improved properties of second electron emission was evaluated by assemble of 4 inch PDP panel. MgO protection layers were deposited and examined by using both pellets made of extremely pure MgO single crystals and sintered pellets using MgO nano powders. $\gamma$ coefficients higher than 0.11 were obtained from the panel by adopting dopant-controlled MgO single crystals. Especially the MgO layer deposited by sintered pellets made of nano powders showed the higher $\gamma$ coefficients at the operating voltage above 200 volts.

  • Hydropneumatic suspension unit is an important part of tracked vehicles to absorb external impact load exerted from the non-paved road and the cannon discharge. Its absorption performance is strongly influenced by both damping and spring forces of the unit. In this paper, we numerically analyze the damping characteristics of the in-arm-type hydropneumatic suspension unit (ISU) by considering four distinct dynamic modes of the ISU damper: jounce-loading, jounce-unloading, rebound-loading and rebound-unloading. The flow rate coefficients determining the oil flow rate through the damper orifice are decided with the help of independent experiments. The wheel reaction force, the flow rate at cracking and the damping energy are parametrically investigated with respect to the orifice diameter and the wheel motion frequency.

  • This study is used to analyze the distribution of resistance factors and the relationships of flow resistance with the field measurements which consist of the total 2,604 rivers for 1,865 bed material in natural channels and 739 vegetation in vegetated channels. Resistance factor relationships and distribution range of Manning roughness coefficients and Darcy-Weisbach friction coefficients by the regression analysis are derived from the power law form as a function of flow discharge and friction slope with bed materials and vegetations in natural and vegetated rivers, respectively.

  • MgO protection layer on the dielectric layer in PDP prevents a dielectric layer from sputtering and lowers the firing voltage due to a large $\gamma$-Coefficients. Until now, the MgO protection layer is mainly prepared by E-beam evaporation. However, there are some problems that is easy pollution and change of its characteristics with time and delamination. Therefore in this study. MgO protection layer is prepared on dielectric layer by R.F. magnetron sputtering with Mg target under various conditions. The sputtered MgO shows the better discharge characteristics compared with MgO deposited by E-beam evaporatior.
