Development of High-speed Shaft Coupling for 6 MW Class Offshore Wind Turbine (6 MW급 해상풍력발전기용 고속축커플링 개발)

  • High-speed shaft coupling in a wind power system transmits power and absorbs variations in length and spindle dislocation between the gearbox and generator. Furthermore, the coupling has an insulation function that prevents electrical corrosion caused by the flow of the generator's current into the gearbox and prevents overload resulting from sudden power failure from being transferred to the gearbox. Its design, functions, and part verification are described in the IEC61400 and GL Guidelines, which specify that the part must have a durability life of 20 years or longer under distance variation and axial misalignment between the gearbox and the generator. This study presents the design of a high-speed coupling through composite stiffness calculation, structural analysis, and comparative analysis of test and theory to identify the characteristics of high-speed coupling for a large-capacity 6 MW wind power generator. A prototype was fabricated by optimizing the manufacturing process for each part based on the design, and the reliability of the fabricated prototype was verified by evaluating the performance of the target quantitative evaluation items.

The effects of motorized flexion-distraction treatment on the lumbosacral region angle in patients with chronic low back pain (자동 굴곡-신연기법이 만성요통 환자의 요천추부 각도에 미치는 효과)

  • This study is to examine effects of motorized flexion-distraction treatment on the pain, lumbosacral angle, lumbar lordosis angle, and lumbar 5 (L5) intervertebral disc angle in patients with chronic low back pain. We selected 30 cases of chronic low back pain, which were evenly divided into two groups: experimental group and control group. We applied the same hot pack, interferential current therapy, and ultrasound therapy to both groups. The experimental group had additional treatment of motrized flexion-distraction therapy and control group had additional of stretching exercise. For each subject, the pain, lumbosacral angle, lumbar lordosis angle, and lumbar 5 (L5) intervertebral disc angle were measured before and after treatment, While experimental groups showed significant improvements after treatment, more significant effects were found in the experimental group.

Application of Lemongrass Oil-Containing Polylactic Acid Films to the Packaging of Pork Sausages

  • Polylactic acid (PLA) is a biodegradable and renewable polymer, which represents a valuable alternative to plastic packaging films, often associated with environmental problems. In this study, we tested the suitability of PLA as a biodegradable packaging film and assessed the antimicrobial activity of lemongrass oil (LO), incorporated into the PLA film in different concentrations. To obtain the optimal physical properties for PLA films, tensile strength, elongation at break, and water vapor permeability were measured under different preparation conditions. In addition, the antimicrobial activity of the LO contained in the PLA film against Listeria monocytogenes was investigated by disc diffusion and viable cell count. Among all concentrations tested, 2% LO was the most suitable in terms of antimicrobial activity and physical properties of the PLA film. Based on these results, we used the PLA film containing 2% LO to pack pork sausages; after 12 d of storage at 4℃, the population of inoculated L. monocytogenes in the sausage samples wrapped with the PLA film containing 2% LO was reduced by 1.47 Log CFU/g compared with the control samples. Our data indicate that PLA films containing 2% LO represent a valuable means for antimicrobial sausage packaging.

  • A comparison between sea trial measurements and full-scale CFD results is presented for two self-propelled ships. Two ships considered in the present study are: a general cargo carrier at Froude number $F_n=0:182$ and a car carrier at $F_n=0:254$. For the general cargo carrier, the propeller rotation rate is fixed and the achieved speed and trim are compared to sea trials, while for the car carrier, the propeller rotation rate is adjusted to achieve the 80% MCR. In addition, three grids are used for each ship in order to assess the grid refinement sensitivity. All simulations are performed using the Naval Hydro pack based on foam-extend, a community driven fork of the OpenFOAM software. The results demonstrate the possibility of using high-fidelity numerical methods to directly calculate ship scale flow characteristics, including the effects of free surface, non-linearity, turbulence and the interaction between propeller, hull and the flow field.
