Nowadays, UI(User Interface)'s main target area is getting larger from user's convenience oriented interface, to user's satisfaction oriented interface. In this study, we attempted 'Storytelling User Interface' for fulfillment of user's satisfaction. We analyzed UI in games, distinguished and clarified its effectiveness that conveys main contents and special features to its audience. The most important element in storytelling UI is 'Inherent Drama'. This was proved through the game analysis with Blizzard's 'Diablo', Sierra's 'Home world', Eden Games' 'Test Drive Unlimited', EA's 'Black And White', and Sony Entertainment's 'Eye Of Judgment'. And we divided storytelling elements into 3 pieces, Mood Design - that shows story's background, or traits, Natural Control - for user's feeling as a hero in the content, and Flow Directing - using animation, visual design and sound, etc. Via these elements, we can make the best use of background, icon, animation, every structures and flow in games. Finally, we embodied three pieces for putting in practice for effective improving interface.
This study is to reveal the meaning of the interaction between a player and a game with the approach of an operational interaction such as joystick and keyboard, and also a representational interaction that the player takes during the game. It has been usually recognized that cut-scene in existing games is just limited to the role of opening scene that delivers mainly a background story of the game, and has the only passive function that serves additionally the expression of the state of the player or the replay of the results of the player's action. But in the aspect of game-direction, the study of the player's action about the interaction movie of 'Uncharted2', for example, one of the most representative video games, shows the possible classification of interaction movie along with three functions(situation direction, induced selective-action, information transfer). As a result, it is judged that interaction movie is not an additional element for the game-play, but rather takes the function of as an interface. The effective application of interaction movie could help a smooth connection between the recognizability from the view point of the player and the playing from the main character's viewpoint, ultimately leading to a direct means to maximize the delivery of the story.
The light is the language. Directors have to describe the scene component effectively his intention to configure the scene as an appropriately. After this act of the character, the layout of the props and scene lights will enter to the scene components. Those things help to audiences can understand narrative of work and emotion that producer want to send. Expressing their emotions especially using the lights by adjusting the colors and contrast makes audience to concentrate on work and understand naturally. This lighting technique clearly appears on early year theaters stage of England and Rembrandt's paintings. Properly dividing and controlling the lights dramatically increases the beauty of the work elements to express a variety of emotions such as worries and fear. Therefore, it can be evolve depending on director's intent of using lights on his work. Lights can increase involvement of human emotion through basic features that cognition of object, visualization of space-time and by artistic method in the product. This study will examine the role and how to use lighting to express the proper sentiment based on the narrative of the work. Making research named "Lighting Research of 3D animated film which applying light features to express emotion" previous study and have to combine emotional vocabulary and emotion-based theory for classifying the emotional language that can be applied on 3D animation. And choosing most emotional scene from 3D animation for analyze how they used lighting to expressing emotions. Directors trying to show up about the light role through light method that matched perfectly with an emotional language. Expecting this research work of directing 3D animations light for expressing emotional feelings will be continue successfully.
Son Jinchaek got into his directing career since 1976 when he founded the theatre group Minye with Huhgyu and others. His experience in Minye was the turnaround of his life; Huhgyu was a teacher in his artist's life whereas Brecht was a teacher for his ideology to make 'Korean Theatre'. From these two teachers, he learned how and why Korean Theatre should be made. Since then, Korean theatre was his calling for 40 years of his directing career. As he established Michoo in 1986, it served a turning point in his art. His focus was on intrinsic attributes of Korean Theatre with Madang Jungshin. With Madang Jungshin, he tried to get over the former generation's fixation on external materials of Korean traditional theatre and folk culture to make Korean Theatre. Rather, he believed Korean Theatre could be realized when it grafted Korean social reality onto the stage, while the form was subsequent. He advocated Korean Theatre should mirror present social reality and circulate social energy. Also, he did not give up aesthetics. On the contrary, his aesthetic style was conspicuously evident in his productions. In spite of his life long career with noteworthy works, the critical discourses are strikingly scarce especially when compared with other senior and peer directors such as Hugh Gyu, Ahn Minsoo, Oh Taesok, and Lee Yoontaek. During his career he has crossed into various genres from Changeuk, Madangnori, and to theatres, which were too versatile to thread them into a discourse and caused a lack of theoretical greeting. Madangnori has anchored its artistic structure on its polished aesthetics which were acclaimed by the general audience for 30 years. For theatre, he concentrated on one production per year to grasp its own style. Theatre works also had revealed his own style of being opened and of being emptied which was certainly different from Madangnori, but had same aesthetic principle within it. This paper attempts to recompose his stylistic features with 'Madang aesthetics' which were based on open space, open acting style, and graphic ensemble. This paper tries to demonstrate how his 'Madang aesthetics' has refined his productions in scenography, acting style, and in more like metaphoric and metonymic symbolic expression of the graphic ensemble. To do this, two productions were explored: eLee Chunpoongjeun and Yulha Ilgyee Manbo. Madangnori was sorely explored by Son Jinchaek with his artistic colleagues Yoon Munshik, Kim Jongyeup, Kim Sungnyu, music designer Park Buhmhoon, and choreographer Guk Sooho. Though it has been ignored for its popular appeal by the doctrinaire theoretical opinions, it started to pull academic attention recently. His theatres are also getting sharp with his 'Madang aesthetics' as well as minimalistic expression in scenography, acting style, and graphic ensemble. Madang Jungshin is the soul and Madang aesthetics is the body in his artistic works. The Madang Jungshin animates the Madang aesthetics, so they become alive in his theatre.
This paper attempts to research on the new language in the directing of Ara Kim. She was cranky on working on the stage to experiment with her own style since the 1980s and so opened a new dawn in modern Korean theatre. She leaded the Korean experimental theatre. The background of this experiment is her idea on theatre. And here, we have to look the subject that she setted for the work in Chuksan: Ritual Past, Ritual Present. To her, the theatre has the function of ritual and fest. The theatre suggests universal tragedy given to human as natural life force and has its own agenda to drive people to healing. For it, Ara Kim explores archetypal forms and languages before the fragmentation of genres of art. Her theatre shows the results of experiments in which such languages are recreated with modernized sensibilities. We here, for example by outdoor performance in Chuksan Human Lear, try to interpret the aesthetic principles that body out her ritual theatre. And what we looked at though, is the base of the 'complex-genre-music-theatre', the methode to 'compose' the stage elements and put it all together. The directing of Ara Kim has, in terms of the composition of the stage elements, much of the indisputable artistic value. Her theatre is, so to speak, theatre of image, and it is theatre of imagination that completed by the audience's imagination. Human Lear which has its own characteristic in image fragments, convert the original Lear into a simple tale. It serves as background of the modern ritual that shows the most basic human instincts. We meet in Human Lear a ritual tale with some list of image for the human instincts. The arrangement of image, the montage of scene shows the performance as a kind of artistic space. In Human Lear the space is the natural one. It centers around the arena stage. The objects installed in the space changes it into the laboratory for 'seeing' the happening. The spectators see the performance and at the same time see themselves in the nature laboratory. They see, and equally, they are visible objects. They see the performance and us in the space in which the performance takes place. That is what Ara Kim with her modern ritual really aims. That aim is to this days still in effect. It is a major driver of her experiments to extend the boundary of the theatre. The ritualistic site-specific performance in Akor Wat, Cambodia, A Song of Mandala is the latest great product from her experiments. On the other hand, she continues on her way to experiment with pure stage elements. The 'Station' series(Station of Water, The Station of Sand, The Station of Wind) she recently showed are the non-verbal performance with all the stage elements: movement, sound, body, light, colour, objects and so on.

The main purpose of the work is to analyze modern innovative educational practices in the field of culture and art and their effectiveness in the context of the spread of digitalization trends. The study used general scientific theoretical methods of analysis, synthesis, analogy, comparative, induction, deduction, reductionism, and a number of others, allowing you to fully understand the pattern of modern modernization processes in a long historical development and demonstrate how the rejection of the negativity of progress allows talented artists to realize their own potential. The study established the advantages and disadvantages of involving innovative technologies in the educational process on the example of European experience and outlined possible ways of implementing digitalization processes in Ukrainian institutions of higher education, formulated the main difficulties encountered by teachers and students in the use of technological innovation in the pandemic. The rapid development of digital technologies has had a great impact on the sphere of culture and art, both visual, scenic, and musical in all processes: creation, reproduction, perception, learning, etc. In the field of art education, there is a synthesis of creative practices with digital technologies. In terms of music education, these processes at the present stage are provided with digital tools of specially developed software (music programs for composition and typing of musical text, recording, and correction of sound, for quality listening to the whole work or its fragments) for training programs used in institutional education and non-institutional learning as a means of independent mastering of the theory and practice of music-making, as well as other programs and technical tools without which contemporary art cannot be imagined. In modern stage education, the involvement of video technologies, means of remote communication, allowing realtime adjustment of the educational process, is actualized. In the sphere of fine arts, there is a transformation of communicative forms of interaction between the teacher and students, which in the conditions of the pandemic are of two-way communication with the help of information and communication technologies. At this stage, there is an intensification of transformation processes in the educational industry in the areas of culture and art.
This paper addresses a methodology for monitoring the first phase('92-94') progress and its implication fo Highly Advanced National R&D Projects (HAN or G7 project) in Korea. The authors suggest a three-stage life cycle model for the management of national R&D program; planning stage, implementing & monitoring stage, and evaluating & harvesting stage. The interim evaluation, the main focuses of this paper, is one of the key issues for the effective management of national R&D program at the implementing & monitoring stage. The conceptual framework of the interim evaluation was developed both through reviewing related literature and considering the characteristics of the HAN program. A stepwise procedure of interim evaluation was introduced: 'initial screen' and 'detailed examination'. At initial screen all 11 projects were reviewed in terms of both their relevance and performance in order to decide whether further detailed scrutiny is needed or not. If there exist critical problems on the relevance or on the intermediate progress of each project, it is to be under further detailed examination. Evaluation was initiated by the G7 Planning and Evaluation Committee, which was established for advising, directing, and monitoring the HAN Projects, with the help of large number of experts from industries, universities, and research institutes. The monitoring results were reported to the related ministries and project coordinating agencies, and reflected in the second phase.

The goal of this paper is to develop a standard side mirror geometry that will perform well across multiple vehicles. One of the important performance attributes of a side mirror is the amount of wind noise generated under the flow conditions on a car. PowerFLOW can be used for Computer Aided Testing of the aeroacoustics performance of a design in addition to directing design modifications based on a detailed analysis of the flow structures responsible for the noise generation. Alternatively, a Design of Experiment (DOE) approach is useful to explore the design space without any a-priori assumptions of the effects of design parameter changes. Some general design guidelines regarding the significant mirror geometry factors will be determined which may help to reduce vehicle development time and cost in the future. The results of this research will also allow us to estimate the trade-off between cost saving and performance optimum related to using a standard mirror shape for different vehicles.
MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are small non-coding RNAs (~22 nucleotides) regulating gene expression at the post-transcriptional level. By directing the RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC) to bind specific target mRNAs, miRNA can repress target genes and affect various biological phenotypes. Functional miRNA target recognition is known to majorly attribute specificity to consecutive pairing with seed region (position 2-8) of miRNA. Recent advances in a transcriptome-wide method of mapping miRNA binding sites (Ago HITS-CLIP) elucidated that a large portion of miRNA-target interactions in vivo are mediated not only through the canonical "seed sites" but also via non-canonical sites (~15-80%), setting the stage to expand and determine their properties. Here we focus on recent findings from transcriptome-wide non-canonical miRNA-target interactions, specifically regarding "nucleation bulges" and "seed-like motifs". We also discuss insights from Ago HITS-CLIP data alongside structural and biochemical studies, which highlight putative mechanisms of miRNA target recognition, and the biological significance of these non-canonical sites mediating marginal repression.
