Application to Speed Control of Brushless DC Motor Using Mixed $H_2/H_{\infty}$ PID Controller with Genetic Algorithm

  • This paper proposes a mixed $H_2/H_{\infty}$ optimal PID controller with a genetic algorithm based on the dynamic model of a brushless direct current (BLDC) motor and applies it to speed control. In the dynamic model of the BLDC motor with perturbation, the proposed controller guarantees arobust and optimal tracking performance to the desired speed of the BLDC motor. A genetic algorithm was used to obtain parameters for the PID controller that satisfy the mixed $H_2/H_{\infty}$ constraint. To implement the proposed controller, a control system based on PIC18F4431 was developed. Numerical and experimental results are shown to prove that the performance of the proposed controller was better than that of the optimal PID controller.

  • This paper presents an energy function which provides the direct relationships between the system stability and parameters of the exciter system. The energy function is derived from the energy conservation law by using the first motion integral. he time derivative does not absolutely satisfy the seminegativeness. However dE/dt usually has big negative value just after the fault clearing so that the energy is rapidly decreased. In this situation, the system state can be obviously confined in a stable region if the intial energy is less than the UEP energy. With these observation, two theorems are developed regarding the state confinement and asymptotic stability. Based on two theorems a new approximated direct energy method is developed to analyze the transient stability with the consideration of the exciter control effects. The proposed method has been tested for a single-machine-infinite bus system.

Design of Emotional Learning Controllers for AC Voltage and Circulating Current of Wind-Farm-Side Modular Multilevel Converters

  • The introduction of a high-voltage direct-current (HVDC) system based on a modular multilevel converter (MMC) for wind farm integration has stimulated studies on methods to control this type of converter. This research article focuses on the control of the AC voltage and circulating current for a wind-farm-side MMC (WFS-MMC). After theoretical analysis, emotional learning (EL) controllers are proposed for the controls. The EL controllers are derived from the learning mechanisms of the amygdala and orbitofrontal cortex which make the WFS-MMC insensitive to variance in system parameters, power change, and fault in the grid. The d-axis and q-axis currents are respectively considered for the d-axis and q-axis voltage controls to improve the performance of AC voltage control. The practicability of the proposed control is verified under various conditions with a point-to-point MMC-HVDC system. Simulation results show that the proposed method is superior to the traditional proportional-integral controller.

  • 본 연구에서는 불확실성과 부하 변동 하에 브러쉬없는 직접구동 전동기의 정확한 사전결정 추적성능을 제공하기 위한 새로운 개선된 강인한 가변구조 추적 제어기를 설계하였다. 리칭 페이즈를 제거하기 위한 특수 적분 슬라이딩 변은 서보 전동기의 초기 위치부터 이상 슬라이딩 모드와 가상 이상 슬라이딩 궤적을 정의한다 . 영이 아닌 슬라이딩 면에 의하여 발생되는 추적오차를 유도하였다. 외란 관측기를 갖는 연속 입력을 제안하여 불확실성과 부하 변동 하에 사전 결정 가상 이상 슬라이딩 궤적을 사전 값 내에 추적하도록 한다. 제안된 알고리듬의 유용성을 부하 변동 하에 브러쉬없는 직접구동 전동기에 대한 비교 시뮬레이션으로 입증한다.

유체의 물성치변화를 고려한 수직원형관내 고온기체유동에 관한 직접수치모사 (Direct Numerical Simulation of Strongly-Heated Internal Gas Flows with Large Variations of Fluid Properties)

  • Direct numerical simulation (DNS) of strongly-heated air flows moving upward in a vertical tube has been conducted to investigate the effect of gas property variations on turbulence modification. Three heating conditions(q$_1$$^{+}$=0.0045, 0.0035 and 0.0018) are selected to reflect the experiment of Shehata and McEligot (1998) at the inlet bulk Reynolds numbers of 4300 and 6000. At these conditions, the flow inside the heated tube remains turbululent or undergoes a transition to subturbulent or laminarizing flow. Consequently, a significant impairment of heat transfer occurs due to the reduction of flow turbulence. The predictions of integral parameters and mean profiles such as velocity and temperature distributions are in excellent agreement with the experiment. The computed turbulence data indicate that a reduction of flow turbulence occurs mainly due to strong flow acceleration effects for strongly-heated internal gas flows. Thus, buoyancy influences are secondary but not negligible especially for turbulent flow at low heating condition. Digital flow visualization also shows that vortical structures rapidly decay as the heating increases.s.

Sliding Mode Control Based DTC of Sensorless Parallel-Connected Two Five-Phase PMSM Drive System

  • This paper presents a sensorless direct torque control (DTC) combined with sliding mode approach (SM) and space vector modulation (SVM) to achieve mainly a high performance and reduce torque and flux ripples of a parallel-connected two five-phase permanent magnet synchronous machine (PMSM) drive system. In order to increase the proposed drive robustness and decrease its complexity and cost, the rotor speeds, rotor positions, fluxes as well as torques are estimated by using a sliding mode observer (SMO) scheme. The effectiveness of the proposed sliding mode observer in conjunction with the sliding mode control based DTC is confirmed through the application of different load torques for wide speed range operation. Comparison between sliding mode control and proportional integral (PI) control based DTC of the proposed two-motor drive is provided. The obtained speeds, torques and fluxes responses follow their references; even in low and reverse speed operations, load torques changes, and machines parameters variations. Simulation results confirm also that, the ripples of the torques and fluxes are reduced more than 3.33% and 16.66 %, respectively, and the speed overshoots and speed drops are reduced about 99.85% and 92.24%, respectively.

  • 본 논문에서는 일정 스위칭 주파수를 가지는 직접 토크 제어(Direct Torque Control, DTC) 기반의 매입형 영구자석 동기 전동기(Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor, IPMSM)에서 속응성 향상을 위한 슬라이딩 모드 제어(Sliding Mode Control, SMC) 기법을 제안한다. 일정 스위칭 주파수를 가지는 DTC 기법은 비례-적분(Proportional-Integral, PI) 토크 제어기와 삼각파 비교기로 구성되어 토크 오차 상태를 일정하게 제어한다. 이는 일반적인 히스테리시스 기반의 DTC 기법에 비해 속응성이 좋지 않다. 본 논문에서는 SMC 기법을 이용하여 일정 스위칭 주파수를 가지는 DTC 기법의 속응성을 향상시키는 방법을 제안한다. 제안하는 기법의 타당성을 시뮬레이션을 통하여 검증한다.

속도제어를 위한 유도전동기 자속추정 시뮬레이터 적용에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Flux Estimation Simulator Application for the Induction Motor Speed Control)

  • 본 논문에서는 전 속도 영역에서 안정적인 자속추정이 가능한 유도전동기 자속추정방법을 제안 하였다. 제안된 방법은 전압, 전류, 속도 등의 정보를 통하여 자속각을 연산하는 유도전동기 직접벡터제어방식을 이용하였다. 유도전동기 벡터제어에 있어서 자속정보는 필수적이기 때문에 정확한 자속을 추정하기 위한 방법으로 저속영역에서 는 전류모델 자속 추정기를, 고속영역에서는 전압모델 자속 추정기를 각각 이용함으로써 전 속도영역에서 정확한 자속을 추정할 수 있었다. 또한 기본적인 속도, 전류, 자속제어기는 PI제어기를 이용하였으며, 각각의 적분에 의한 오차를 보상하기 위하여 Anti-windup PI 제어기를 추가하였다. 제시한 제어기의 타당성을 알아보고자 Matlab / simulink를 이용하여 전류모델, 전압모델 자속 추정기를 설계하여 정확한 자속추정이 이루어짐을 확인하였으며, 유도 전동기 벡터제어 시 간접벡터와 직접벡터방식의 파라미터 영향에 따른 분석을 통해 보다 정밀한 제어가 이루어짐을 확인하였다. 이와 같은 시뮬레이션 결과를 분석 하여 제시한 알고리즘의 타당성을 입증하였다.

Modeling and experiment for the force/impact control via passive hardware damper

  • This paper deals with the modeling and experiment of a robot system for force/impact control performance. The basic model is composed of a direct drive motor, servo amplifier, link, force sensor and environments. Based on the developed model, the stability of the whole system was analyzed via root locus method. For the force control, integral force compensation with velocity feedback method shows the best performance of all the explicit force control strategies. In dealing with impact, PID position control and the explicit force control method were implemented. Instead of add more damping to the robot system by velocity feedback, we developed a new passive damping method and it was also applied to enhance the damping characteristic of the system.

Multi-Domain Structural-Acoustic Coupling Analysis Using the Finite Element and Boundary Element Techniques

  • A new approach to analyze the multi-domain acoustic system divided and enclosed by flexible structures is presented in this paper. The boundary element formulation of the Helmholtz integral equation is used for the internal fields and the finite element formulation for the structures surrounding the fields. We developed a numerical analysis program for the structural-acoustic coupling problems of the multi-domain system, in which boundary conditions such as the continuity of normal particle velocity and sound pressure in the structural interfaces between Field 1 and Field 2 are not needed. The validity of the numerical analysis program is verified by comparing the numerical results with the experimental ones. Example problems are included to investigate the characteristics of the coupled multi-domain system.
