The Purpose of this study was firstly to identify the living characteristics of apartment residents in relation to the behavioral patterns in the kitchen and utility space and secondly to present the basic material necessary for planning the kitchen and utility space of future desirable apartments with consideration for resident usage. The findings are summarized as follows : 1) Behavioral patterns in the kitchen and utility space were classified as personal life, family with harmony, talking with visitors, caring for children, cleaning, cooking, and keeping and connecting. 2) Behavioral patterns in He kitchen and utility space showed patterns on personal life, family with harmony, and talking with visitors and were used in the kitchen including the dining room. 3) As the required kitchen size and sink arrangement varied according to the kinds of furniture appliance, plan for the kitchen wok is very necessary.

Children of three-to-eighteen-years-old have been brought up in the institution (Orphanage) for several reasons such as family dissolution, divorce and poverty since the Korean Was of 1950. The Cottage, where these children are housed and brought up has dining room, library and bedrooms, plays as a significant social interaction place as well as study. Since the most facilities were built during the 1950-1960s period, most of the cottages are now in the condition of being rebuilt or remodelled. Because living space and studying space are mixed, it will be necessary to provide another studying space separated from living space. And then it will be also necessary to provide a space for play or rest between the two spaces. This study was conducted to obtain some basic data necessary for design of spaces in the orphanages by examining the relations between the studying activities of children and residence types.

The purpose of this study was to suggest the spatial structure among residential behaviors in relation to work space. To find the structure, Multi-Dimensional Scaling analysis was used. Respondents were 349 middle income housewives living in apartments in the area of Caopital region. Data were collected through the questinnaire survey. For the future residential interior design, following points were sugtested. A laundary space neess to be developed independently , being separated from both bathroom and kitchen/dining space. A new area which will give housewives some territoriality and also function as home office needs to be considered. A space configuration which satisfies the organic relationships among laundary behaviors such as washing dying, ironing and folding , needs to be systematically planned, with two adjoining separate zones of wet and dry utility . The present bathroom nees to be more incorporated to the private bedroom rather than to workspace.

The purpose of this study is to provide the guidelines for the planning and design of officetels, meeting the requirements of life in one-person household which is a new type in housing market. Literature survey is used as a research method. We analyzed the needs of officetel residents, by reviewing researches and by examining internet homepages and catalogs of 20 officetels sold since 2000. Case study analysis method is used as a qualitative analysis. The major findings of this study are as follows; 1) In dwelling unit space, it lacks the independence of working space and the privacy of living space. Therefore, the provision of various unit plans, such as 2-bay plan, unit with mezzanine floor or movable walls, layout of kitchen and dining area in window side, is proposed. 2) In communal space, it lacks the consideration of natural environments and the systematic maintenance. Therefore, the introduction of communal workshop and conference rooms and of various types of garden space, is proposed.

Determination of the space requirements for a restaurant is a difficult task. Because the space required is dependent upon many factors which are not constant for all types of restaurants. Today, the guides and procedures that be given are to be regarded as tentative and subject to easy change. This study tired to present the efficient methods and procedures of the space planning of restaurant. Thus, this study is on the purpose of nexts. First, finding the variables involved in the development of the model. Second, describing the approach method of modeling the facility. Third, depicting the methods and procedures of estimating the sizing of serving facilities. Fourth, developing the alternatives of sizing the space required for the facility. As illustrated, this study used the results of the model estimates and emphasized the importance of accurately evaluating the following factors. First, total number of persons to be fe. Second, meal period. Third, number of persons I the dining room. Fourth, number of persons in the serving area. Fifth, vacancy ratio.

The purpose of this study was to clarify the space use pattern and the daily living activities of the elderly with dementia in the common space (living room) of nursing home. The subjects were 2 units(living room) of the nursing home. For this, researcher visited from June 20 to July 2 and collected data by observations of behavior of the elderly with dementia in common space(living room) and interviews with staff for the information about basic characteristics of the elderly with dementia and administration and operation of the facilities. The data were analyzed using the frequency and percentage. The results revealed as follows: first, the daily living activities of the elderly with dementia in common space tended to focus on self-concentration type and physical environment-interest type. Second, physical environmental -interest type. Second, physical environmental characteristics of common space affected space usage pattern of the elderly with dementia. And it was perceived like as living oriented space, social interaction space, facility space, staff oriented space. Conclusively it was suggested to plan dining space as semi-private space, day corner as semi-public space.

The purpose of the study was to analyze the appropriateness of space in multi-family housing by examining the current conditions of space, space norms and deficits, satisfaction with and needs for the spaces of individual rooms. The data came from the survey with 412 households living in Haeundae New Town, Busan and were analyzed with descriptive statistics. The appropriateness of space were mainly investigated in terms of housing size, number of bedrooms, and number of bathrooms. In terms of current space conditions, the highest portion of the households live in apartments with $20\sim30s$ pyong, 3 bedrooms, and 2 bathrooms. It was found that the space norms included housing with $30\sim40s$ pyong, 3 bedrooms, and 2 bathrooms. Households in current study tended to have some space deficits, especially in housing size and number or bathrooms. In general, the satisfaction with the current space of individual rooms were generally low except living room and master bedroom. It was also found that the households were more likely to make the second biggest bedroom bigger than now. The stages of family life cycle has significant effects on needs for the spaces of several rooms, such as dining room, room2, and room3.

The purpose of this study is to actualize the unit planning space. First, to understand various needs about residential space of apartments inhabitants. It is necessary for us to understand exactly what differences of residential needs and how different they are with todays's viewpoint because different residential life should be developed according to family structure, age and personality. Second, to suggest plan type as many as possible to reflect and accept various residential needs of inhabitants. The main bed room is normal used for the space of husband and wife, it is necessary to consider the room to be free from the main living room, to introduce variety in the area division or location of rooms an to mark kitchen and dining room as family room or pieasure room besides as a working space

Eating was done on a respective one-man dining table, which reflect the esteem for the individual. The family eating place was generally An-bang of the house, The eating space of Yang-ban housing with its hierarchical, spatial method of tabling and eating around the head of the family served as a synchronically meaningful space which was to strengthen the solidarity of patriarchy beyond the mere funtioning place of eating. That meaning seems to reveal itself more conspicuously when we consider that the eating place is An-bang, the center of the main house. The basic space for cooking was Bu-oak (Chung-ji). Thre was no water-supply system or drainage in the kitchen, so all the water needed for cooking was drawn from outdoor well with a bucket. The traditional eating habits, the entertainment for the bustling guests, and the frequent sacrificial rites required many store rooms for the subasidiary food and wide space for putting food into order.
