Stabilization Splint Fabrication Using Computer-Aided Design/Computer-Aided Manufacturing and Three-Dimensional Printing

  • A conservative treatment approach to temporomandibular disorder (TMD) is recommended as the first line of management, usually with a stabilization splint. Recently, computer-aided design/computer-aided manufacturing and three-dimensional printer has been widely used in the dentistry since several years ago. The authors apply digital dentistry in oral medicine fields to make stabilization splint for TMD treatment.

3차원 요부 안정화 운동이 만성요통에 미치는 효과 (The Effects on 3-Dimensional Exercise of Lumbar Stabilization for Chronic Low Back Pain)

  • Purpose: This study is intended to evaluate the effects of lumbar stability after 3-dimensional exercises of lumbar stabilization. Methods: Total subjects with chronic low back pain(age ranged from 20 to 60) were recruited. All subjects received 3-dimensional exercise of trunk stabilization during 4 weeks in 00 orthopedic clinic, from May 15 to October 15 in 2006. All measurements of each patients were measured before and after lumbar stabilization exercise. Results: After lumbar stabilization exercise by CENTAUR(R), the muscle power was increased from 57.99kNm to 72.01kNm, there were statistically remarkable differences(p<0.05). VAS was lessened from 6.35 to 3.26, there were statistically remarkable differences(p<0.05). After lumbar stabilization exercise by CENTAUR(R), the temperature was increased from $27.68^{\circ}C$ to $28.26^{\circ}C$, there were remarkable differences statistically(p<0.05). Conclusions: It has been turned out that lumbar stabilization exercise has positive effect on the muscle strengthening, pain index and thermal change.

3차원 요부안정화 운동이 20대 요통환자의 통증과 동적 및 정적 균형능력 향상에 미치는 효과 (The Effects of 3-Dimensional Lumbar Stabilization Exercise have an effect on the improvement of pain and static or dynamic balance ability in 20's age group with Low Back Pain)

  • Purpose: The aim of this study is to compare and assess the effects of lumbar stabilization exercise on the balance ability of young college studets with low back pain after having performed spinal stabilization exercise by using 3-dimensional air-balance system and gym ball. Methods: The subjects of this study were 34 low back patients in their early twenties. They were divided into two groups: 3-dimensional lumbar stabilization exercise group(N=17) and gym ball lumbar stabilization exercise group(N=17). The period of the intervention was for five weeks. VAS(Visual Analogue Scale) for pain test, ODI(Oswestry Disability Index) for ADL limitation test, Tetrax system for static balance test, and Air-balance system 3D for dynamic balance test were used as evaluation tools for this study. Results: Pain showed significant decrease in both groups after having performed the experiment, but ADL limitation of the groups did not show any remarkable difference between before and after the experiment. Dynamic balance ability in the 8-directional angle comparison test significantly increased in all directions except for the backward, left-backward, and right-backward directions. As for dynamic balance ability in the 8-directional postural test, 3D exercise group showed statistically significant reduction in every direction while gym ball exercise group did not(p<.05). However, when it comes to static balance ability in the weight distribution and stability test, there was not significantly change between pre and post test in both groups. Conclusion: This study shows 3-dimensional lumbar stabilization exercise is more effective in the lumbar stabilization of coordinated movement than gym ball exercise, which may imply that 3D air-balance system can be used for the therapeutic treatment of body imbalance for patients with low back pain.

Dimensional Stability of Korean Red Pine Wood Treated with Water-Soluble Melamine-Formaldehyde Resin

  • The objective of this study was the dimensional stabilization of Korean red pine (Pinus densiflora) wood by the water-based thermosetting resin. A commercial melamine-formaldehyde resin was impregnated into wood samples and cured. The weight and dimensional change of woods treated by the resin, and the absorption and dimensional behavior of treated woods were investigated. The melamine-formaldehyde resin treatment improved significantly the dimensional stability of pine wood and showed about 40% of antiswelling efficiency. The mechanism of dimensional stabilization was interpreted as the complicated reason, such as bulking effect by the resin in cell wall, mechanical restraint and/or blocking of hygroscopic site by the resin in lumen.

잣나무 열압밀화재의 열처리를 통한 치수안정화 (Dimensional Stabilization through Heat Treatment of Thermally Compressed Wood of Korean Pine)

  • 잣나무 열압밀화재의 완전한 치수안정화를 위해 열압밀화 후 열처리를 하였다. 열처리가 된 열압밀화재의 치수안정성 평가를 위해 흡수시험을 실시하였다. 0.43의 비중인 목재를 두께 압축률 50%로 열압밀화를 실시하여 0.79의 비중을 가진 고비중재를 얻었다. 열압밀화 후 열처리를 통하여 열처리 온도와 시간이 증가함에 따라 흡수성과 팽윤성이 감소하였다. 두께 회복률의 경우는 $120^{\circ}C$, $140^{\circ}C$, $160^{\circ}C$ 모두 24시간동안 열처리를 진행하였을 때, 1% 미만의 두께 회복도를 나타내었다. 따라서 열압밀화재의 치수안정화는 후 열처리 공정을 통하여 매우 효과적으로 시행할 수 있는 방법임을 확인할 수 있었다.

  • 본 연구는 목재에 폴리에틸렌글리콜(PEG)을 주입하였을 때 얻어지는 치수안정화 효과를 구명 하고자 수행하였다. 실험에 사용된 수종은 일본잎갈나무(낙엽송, Larix kaempferi)이었고, 분자량이 각각 1000, 1500, 4000, 6000인 PEG를 각각 30%, 40%, 50% 수용액으로 하여 함침 처리에 사용하였다. 치수안정성은 항팽윤율을 측정하여 평가하였다. PEG 주입에 따른 중량중가율은 PEG 처리 농도 40%가 가장 높은 값을 보였고, PEG 분자량 1500 처리가 가장 높은 값을 나타냈다. 또한, 평균 분자량 1500이상이 되면, 분자량이 커질수록 중량증가율은 감소하는 경향을 보였다. PEG 처리재의 항팽윤율(ASE)은 PEG #1000 또는 PEG #1500 처리시 접선, 방사방향 모두 가장 높은 값을 나타냈으며, PEG 분자량이 증가하면, ASE 값이 감소하는 경향을 보였다.

Dimensional Stability of Plastic Processing Wood Material - Compression Wood and Bentwood -

  • This study was carried out to assess the dimensional stability of wood material treated by plastic processing for bentwood and compression wood. The evaluation method was different between two wood materials, but the treatments for them were very similar to each other. One of the main methods is heat treatment with sufficient water vapor. In bentwood, the used species were painted maple (Acer mono), bitter wood (Picrasma quassioides) and birch (Betula schmidtii). Steaming was the worst treatment method for dimensional stabilization of bentwood. The best results could be attained with PEG treatment for dimensional stabilization of bentwood. Dimensional stability of bitter wood was found to be conspicuous. However the steaming treatment at lower temperatures, i.e., about $130^{\circ}C$ was not suitable for dimensional stability of bentwood. In compression wood, the used specimen was Italian poplar wood (Populus euramericana). Two heat compressive pressing conditions, an open-press system and an air-tighten closed-press system, were used. The recovery rate was measured after boiling and/or absorbing in water to estimate the dimensional stability of heat compressed wood. The best dimensional stability of compressed wood in the air-tighten closed-press system was found to be better at $200^{\circ}C$ than $180^{\circ}C$. The best compression rate for dimensional stability was 73 percent.

STABILIZATION OF 2D g-NAVIER-STOKES EQUATIONS

  • We study the stabilization of 2D g-Navier-Stokes equations in bounded domains with no-slip boundary conditions. First, we stabilize an unstable stationary solution by using finite-dimensional feedback controls, where the designed feedback control scheme is based on the finite number of determining parameters such as determining Fourier modes or volume elements. Second, we stabilize the long-time behavior of solutions to 2D g-Navier-Stokes equations under action of fast oscillating-in-time external forces by showing that in this case there exists a unique time-periodic solution and every solution tends to this periodic solution as time goes to infinity.

관심영역 기반 와핑을 이용한 3D 동영상 안정화 기법 (ROI-Based 3D Video Stabilization Using Warping)

  • 가정용 캠코더의 보급으로 인해서 손떨림이나 카메라 흔들림을 보상하기 위해 다양한 동영상 안정화 기법들이 연구되고 있다. 동영상 안정화 기법은 초기에 2차원 움직임만을 고려하였지만, 최근에는 3차원 움직임까지 고려하여서 더 좋은 성능을 얻을 수 있게 되었다. 이러한 기법들 중 가장 좋은 성능을 보이는 것으로 알려진 기법이 바로 content preserving warping을 이용한 기법인데 이것은 뛰어난 성능을 보이지만 방대한 연산량이 단점이다. 그래서, 우리는 ROI 측면에서 종래 기술 대비 동등한 화질을 보이면서도 연산량이 적은 full frame warping을 제안한다. 먼저, 목표로 하는 깊이 정보를 바탕으로 관심 영역을 설정하고, 설정된 관심 영역을 기반으로 full frame warping을 수행한다.

목재(木材)의 치수 안정화(安定化)에 관(關)한 연구(硏究) -Polyethylene Glycol의 혼합액(混合液)을 중심(中心)으로- (Studies on the Dimensional Stabilization of Wood -Especially by the Solution of Different Composition by PEG Molecular Weight-)

  • 본 연구는 활엽수재(闊葉樹材)인 층층나무(Cornus Controversa Hemsl), 굴참나무(Quercus variabilis Blume) 및 산벚나무(Prunus sargentii Redher)를 시험편(試驗片)으로 하여 치수안정화효과(安定化效果)를 높일 수 있는 PEG 적정분자량(分子量)과 혼합방법(混合方法)을 혼합비 I, II, III, IV 및 V 중에서 찾는데 그 목적이 있었으며 실험결과는 다음과 같았다. 1. 목재내(木材內) PEG 주입율(注入率)은 비중에 따른 영향을 받았으며 굴참나무를 제외하고 만족할만한 주입율을 나타내어 적정혼합방법은 PEG V임을 알았다. 2. PEG V용액에서의 팽윤효과(澎潤效果)는 층층나무, 산벚나무에서 높았으며, 굴참나무의 팽윤효과(澎潤效果)를 높이기 위해서는 방수성약제(防水性藥劑)의 도장(塗裝)이 필요하다. 3. PEG V용액에서 산벚나무가 82.59%로 가장 높은 항수축능(抗收縮能)을 보였고 굴참나무가 62.79%로 가장 낮은 값을 보여 주었다. 4. 활엽수재(闊葉樹材)의 치수안정화(安定化)는 PEG의 혼합방법에 따라 커다란 차이를 나타내지 않았다. 5. 이상과 같은 실험결과를 종합 분석한 결과 비중이 높은 활엽수재(闊葉樹材)의 경우에는 PEG-400과 PEG-1000으로 혼합하되 외부인자를 충분히 고려할 필요가 있다.
