To investigate dimensional responses of wood under dynamic temperature condition, poplar (populous euramericana Cv.) specimens, 20 mm in radial (R) and tangential (T) directions with two thicknesses of 4 and 10 mm along the grain, were exposed to cyclic temperature changes in square wave between $25^{\circ}C$ and $40^{\circ}C$ at 60% relative humidity (RH) for three different cycling periods of 6 h, 12 h and 24 h. R and T dimensional changes measured during the cycling gave the following results: 1) Transverse dimensional changes of the specimens were generally square but at an opposite phase and lagged behind the imposed temperature changes. The phase lag was inversely correlated with cycling period, but positively related to specimen thickness, while the response amplitude was directly proportional to cycling period, but in a negative correlation with specimen thickness. 2) The specimens showed swelling hysteresis behavior. The heat shrinkage coefficient (HSC) became greater as cycling period increased or specimen thickness decreased. 3) Dimensional changes of the specimens produced deformation accumulation during repeated adsorption and desorption. The deformation accumulating ratio decreased with an increase in cycling period and specimen thickness. 4) Wood suffered 1.5 times as many dimensional changes per unit temperature variation as per unit humidity variation, and this deformation behaved even more seriously under static condition.
Numerical modeling for electromagnetic exploration methods are essential to understand behaviours of electromagnetic fields in complex subsurfaces. In this study, a finite element method was adopted as a numerical scheme for the 2.5-dimensional forward problem. And a finite element equation considering linear conductivity variation was proposed when 2.5-dimensional differential equation to couple eletric and magnetic field was implemented. Model parameters were investigated for near-field with large source effects and far-field with responses dominantly by homogeneous half-space. Numerical responses by this study were compared with analytic solutions in homogeneous half-space and compared with other three dimensional numerical results.
In this paper, the motion responses with hydrodynamic interaction effect between two off-shore floating structures in various heading waves are studied by using a linearized three-dimensional potential theory. Numerical calculations using three-dimensional pulsating source distribution techniques have been carried out for twelve coupled linear motion responses and relative motions of the barge and the ship in oblique waves. The computational results give a good correlation with the experimental results and also with other numerical results. As a result, the present computational tool can be used effectively to predict the motion responses of multiple offshore floating structures in waves.
Negative induced polarization (IP) responses are examined for two-dimensional structures using a modeling technique with finite difference method. Percent frequency effect is used for IP parameter because it can be efficiently computed by a perturbation method. Thin conductive, polarizable overburden causes obvious negative IP responses on IP pseudosection. This fact means that IP responses from resistive, polarizable body below the overburden can be masked solely as a function of the resistivity distribution. Resistive, non-polarizable body below the overburden, however, can be detected by the negative IP responses.
A numerical procedure is described for simultaneously predicting the motion and structural responses of tension leg platforms (TLPs) in multi-directional irregular waves. The developed numerical approach is based on a combination of a three dimensional source distribution method, the finite element method for structurally treating the space frame elements and a spectral analysis technique of directional waves. The spectral description for the linear responses of a structure in the frequency domain is sufficient to completely define the responses. This is because both the wave inputs and the responses are stationary Gaussian ran dom process of which the statistical properties in the amplitude domain are well known. The hydrodynamic interactions among TLP members, such as columns and pontoons, are included in the motion and structural analysis. The effect of wave directionality has been pointed out on the first order motion, tether forces and structural responses of a TLP in multi-directional irregular waves.

Multiple responses are often observed in many application fields, such as customer's time-of-day pattern for using internet. Some decision trees for multiple responses have been constructed by many researchers. However, if the response is a high-dimensional vector that can be thought of as a discretized function, then fitting a multivariate decision tree may be unsuccessful. Yu and Lambert (1999) suggested spline tree and principal component tree to analyze high dimensional response vector by using dimension reduction techniques. In this paper, we shall propose factor tree which would be more interpretable and competitive. Furthermore, using Korean internet company data, we will analyze time-of-day patterns for internet user.
To treat the novel COronaVIrus Disease (COVID), comparatively fewer medicines have been approved. Due to the global pandemic status of COVID, several medicines are being developed to treat patients. The modern COVID medicines development process has various challenges, including predicting and detecting hazardous COVID medicine responses. Moreover, correctly predicting harmful COVID medicine reactions is essential for health safety. Significant developments in computational models in medicine development can make it possible to identify adverse COVID medicine reactions. Since the beginning of the COVID pandemic, there has been significant demand for developing COVID medicines. Therefore, this paper presents the transferlearning methodology and a multilabel convolutional neural network for COVID (MLCNN-COV) medicines development model to identify negative responses of COVID medicines. For analysis, a framework is proposed with five multilabel transfer-learning models, namely, MobileNetv2, ResNet50, VGG19, DenseNet201, and Inceptionv3, and an MLCNN-COV model is designed with an image augmentation (IA) technique and validated through experiments on the image of three-dimensional chemical conformer of 17 number of COVID medicines. The RGB color channel is utilized to represent the feature of the image, and image features are extracted by employing the Convolution2D and MaxPooling2D layer. The findings of the current MLCNN-COV are promising, and it can identify individual adverse reactions of medicines, with the accuracy ranging from 88.24% to 100%, which outperformed the transfer-learning model's performance. It shows that three-dimensional conformers adequately identify negative COVID medicine responses.

In this paper, the lifting analysis of a floating crane with a shipbuilding block is performed. Since floating cranes are operated in ocean waves, six degree-of-freedom motions are considered in the dynamic equations of motions of the floating crane and the block. The boom of the floating crane is considered as an elastic body in the analysis, and is modeled as three dimensional beam based on the finite element formulation. The hydrostatic and hydrodynamic forces by a regular wave are considered as external forces. By solving the equations of motions numerically, the dynamic responses of the floating crane and the block are simulated. The simulation results with different wave directions are compared and the conditions which cause maximum responses are discussed.
To design a very large floating structure, such as a floating airport, we have to estimate the hydroelastic responses of a very large floating structure (VLFS) exactly. We developed the numerical method for estimating the hydroelastic responses of the VLFS. The developed numerical approach is based on a combination of the three-dimensional source distribution method, the wave interaction theory and the finite element method for structurally treating the space frame elements. The Numerical results of the hydroelastic responses and steady drift forces of a somisubmersible type offshore structure, which is supported by the 33(3 by 11) floating bodies, with various bending rigidities are illustrated.

A regression with multi-dimensional responses is quite common nowadays in the so-called big data era. In such regression, to relieve the curse of dimension due to high-dimension of responses, the dimension reduction of predictors is essential in analysis. Sufficient dimension reduction provides effective tools for the reduction, but there are few sufficient dimension reduction methodologies for multivariate regression. To fill this gap, we newly propose two fused slice-based inverse regression methods. The proposed approaches are robust to the numbers of clusters or slices and improve the estimation results over existing methods by fusing many kernel matrices. Numerical studies are presented and are compared with existing methods. Real data analysis confirms practical usefulness of the proposed methods.
