The influence of oxidant addition on soot formation is investigated experimentally with ethylene, propane and mixture fuel co-flow diffusion flames. Oxidant addition into fuel shows the increase of integrated soot volume fractions for ethylene, ethylene/ethane and ethylene/methane mixture flames. However, the increase of integrated soot volume fraction with oxidant addition was not significant for propane and ethylene/propane mixture flames. This discrepancy is explained with $C_2\;and\;C_3$ chemistry at the early stage of soot formation process. The oxidant addition increases the concentration of $C_3H_3$ in the soot formation region, and therefore, enhances soot formation process. A new soot formation rate model that includes both dilution effect and chemical effect of oxygen is suggested to interpret the increase of integrated soot volume fractions with oxidant addition into ethylene. Also, the role of adiabatic flame temperature for the chemical effect of oxygen addition into fuel was reviewed. The influence of oxidant or diluent addition into fuel on soot formation process are the fuel dilution effect, the adiabatic flame temperature altering effect and/or the chemical effect of oxygen. Their relative importance could change with fuel structure and adiabatic flame temperature.
The process simulations are made on the IGCC power plant using heavy residue oil from refinery process. In order to model combined power block of IGCC, the present study employs the gas turbine of MS7001FA model integrated with ASU (Air Separation Unit), and considers the air extraction from gas turbine and the combustor dilution by returned nitrogen from ASU. The exhaust gas energy of gas turbine is recovered through the bottoming cycle with triple pressure HRSG (Heat Recovery Steam Generator). Clean syngas fuel of the gas turbine is assumed to be produced through Shell gasification of Visbreaker residue oil and Sulfinol-SCOT-Claus gas cleanup processes. The process optimization results show that the best efficiency of IGCC plant is achieved at 20% air extraction condition in the case without nitrogen dilution of gas turbine combustor find at the 40% with nitrogen dilution. Nitrogen dilution of combustor has very favorable and remarkable effect in reducing NOx emission level, while shifting the operation point of gas turbine to near surge point.
This study has a purpose to look into the effect of the relationship between the Tube current (mA) and SOD(Source to Object Distance), which is a parameter of lower limb angiography examination, and the dilution rate of the contrast medium concentration (300, 320, 350) on the image. To that end, using 3 mm vessel model water phantom, a vessel model custom made in the size of peripheral vessel diameter, this study measured relationships between change of parameters, such as tube current (mA), SOD and varying concentrations (300, 320, 350) of contrast medium dilution into SNR and CNR values while analyzing the coefficients of variance(cv<10). The software used to measure SNR and CNR values was Image J 1.50i from NIH (National Institutes of Health, USA). MPV (mean pixel value) and SD (standard deviation) were used after verifying numerically the image signal for region of interest (ROI) and background on phantom from the DICOM (digital imaging and communications in medicine) 3.0 file transmitted to PACS. As to contrast medium dilution by the change of tube current, when 146 mA and 102 mA were compared, For both SNR and CNR, the coefficient of variation value was less than 10 until the section of CM: N/S dilution (100% ~ 30% : 70%) but CM: N/S dilution rate (20%: 80% ~ 10% : 90%) the coefficient of variation was 10 or more. As to contrast medium dilution by concentration for SOD change, when SOD's (32.5 cm and 22.5 cm) were compared,For both SNR and CNR, the coefficient of variation value was less than 10 until the section of CM: N/S dilution (100% ~ 30% : 70%) but CM: N/S dilution rate (20%: 80% ~ 10% : 90%) the coefficient of variation was 10 or more. As to contrast medium dilution by concentration for SOD change, when SOD's (32.5 cm and 12.5 cm) were compared,For both SNR and CNR, the coefficient of variation value was less than 10 until the section of CM: N/S dilution (100% ~ 30% : 70%) but CM: N/S dilution rate (20%: 80% ~ 10% : 90%) the coefficient of variation was 10 or more. As a result, set a low tube current value in other tests or procedures including peripheral angiography of the lower extremities in the intervention, and make the table as close as possible to the image receiver, and adjust the contrast agent concentration (300) to CM: N/S dilution (30%: 70%). ) Is suggested as the most efficient way to obtain images with an appropriate concentration while simultaneously reducing the burden on the kidney and the burden on exposure.
Horseradish peroxidase(HRP) in organic solvent can be reactivated by evaporation. In order to measure the evaporation effect, the enzyme solutions were obtained by evaporation and dilution of organic solvent, respectively. Although two situations were thermodynamically identical, the activity from evaporation was higher than that from dilution. From the UV absorbance and the fluorescence intensity mesurements, it can be explained that reactivation of enzyme activity might be caused by reversible folding, and the enzyme obtained by evaporation was more refolded than that obtained by dilution.

This paper describes experimental results about emission and NOx reduction of dilution effect (Nitrogen and carbon dioxide) about various fuel compositions of synthetic natural gas (SNG). Combustion experiment was performed to investigate the combustion characteristics for SNG with various hydrogen ratio in SNG, heat input and equivalence ratio in a partially premixed model gas turbine combustor. NOx emission was similar to each hydrogen ratio and flame characteristics was investigated from OH chemiluminescence images. There was a singularity of CO emission in stoichiometric condition and it can be identified using OH chemiluminescence intensity. In addition, dilution effect was studied in using nitrogen and carbon dioxide as diluent to reduce the NOx emission. Carbon dioxide diluent was more effective to NOx reduction than nitrogen diluent because of its high diluent specific heat and its heat capacity.
Effect of radiation models on the suppression limits in counterflow $CH_4$/air diffusion flame was numerically investigated with fundamental experiments for the numerical validation. $N_2$ and $CO_2$ were considered as extinguishing agents. The differences in extinguishing concentration between OTM and SNB radiation models which have different accuracy levels were examined. As a result, there is no considerable difference in extinguishing concentration for the $N_2$ dilution as the radiation models with different accuracy levels were used. As the $CO_2$ having strong radiative effect was diluted in the low strain flames, however, the radiation model with high predictive accuracy such as SNB should be used. In particular, the $CO_2$ dilution in fuel stream leads to the significant difference in extinguishing concentration between OTM and SNB models. Therefore, it is necessary that the radiation model should be reasonably chosen with the consideration of numerical accuracy and computational time for the prediction of extinguishing concentration.
The Biochemical Methane Potential (BMP) of fresh leachate and domestic wastewaters codigestion was determined by laboratory Bach Tests at $35^{\circ}C$ over a period of 90 d using a wide range of leachates volumetric ratios from 0% to 100%. To simulate wastewaters plant treatment step, all the ratios were first air stripped for 48 h before anaerobic incubation. The kinetic of biogas production was assessed using modified Gompertz model and exponential equation. The results obtained showed that cumulative biogas production was insignificant in the case of wastewaters monodigestion while the codigestion significantly improves the BMP. Air stripping pretreatment had positive effect on both ammonium concentration and volatiles fatty acids with reduction up to 75% and 42%, respectively. According to the Modified Gompertz model, the optimal anaerobic co-digestion conditions both in terms of maximal biogas potential, start-up period and maximum daily biogas production rate, could be achieved within large leachate volumetric ratios from 25% to 75% with a maximum BMP value of 438.42 mL/g volatile solid at 50% leachate ratio. The positive effect of codigestion was attributed to a dilution effect of chemical oxygen demand and volatile fatty acid concentrations to optimal range that was between 11.7 to $32.3gO_2/L$ and 2.1 to 7.4 g/L, respectively. These results suggested that the treatment of fresh leachate by their dilution and co digestion at wastewaters treatment plants could be a promising alternative for both energetic and treatment purposes.

Characteristics of methane turbulent non-premixed flame have been studied experimentally in coflow jets with initial temperature variation. The results showed that the premixed flame model and the large-scale mixing model for turbulent flame stabilization were effective for methane fuel considered initial temperature variation. Especially, the premixed flame model has been improved by considering nitrogen dilution for the liftoff height of turbulent lifted flame. In estimating blowout velocity and the liftoff height at blowout with the premixed flame model and the large-scale mixing model, the two turbulent models were excellently correlated by considering the effect of physical properties and buoyancy for the initial temperature variation.

This paper describes on the NOx/CO emission characteristics, temperature characteristics and flame structures when firing coal derived synthetic gas especially for gases of Buggenum and Taean IGCC. These combustion characteristics were observed by conducting ambient-pressure elevated-temperature combustion tests in GE7EA model combustor when varying heat input and nitrogen dilution ratio. Nitrogen addition caused decrement in adiabatic flame temperature, thus resulting in the NOx reduction. At low heat input condition, nitrogen dilution raised the CO emission dramatically due to incomplete combustion. These NOx reduction and CO arising phenomena were observed at certain flame temperature of $1500^{\circ}C$ and $1250^{\circ}C$, respectively. As increasing nitrogen dilution, adiabatic flame temperature and combustor liner temperature were decreased and singular points were detected due to change in flame structure such as flame lifting. From the results, the effect of nitrogen dilution on the NOx/CO and flame structure was examined, and the test data will be utilized as a reference to achieve optimal operating condition of the Taean IGCC demonstration plant.
The fission gas release model used In the SPEAR-BETA fuel performance code was modified by use of effective thermal conductivity for cracked fuel and by laking Into account axial fission-gas mixing between the fuel-clad gap and the plenum. With use of this modified model the fission gas release was analyzed under various power ramping conditions of P$_{max}$ and $\Delta$.fP. Effective fuel thermal conductivity that accounts for the effect of fuel tracking was used in calculation of the fuel temperature distribution and the Internal gas pressure under power ramping conditions. Mixing and dilution effects due to axial gas flow were also considered in computing the width and the thermal conductivity of the gap. The effect of axial gas flow w3s solved by the Crank-Nicholson method. The finite difference method was used to save running time in the calculation. The present modified fission-gas release model was validated by comparing its predicted results with experimental data from various lamping tests In the literature and calculated results with use of the models used In the SPEAR-BETA and FEMAXI-IV codes. Results obtained with use of the present modified model showed better agreement with experimental data reported in the literature than those results with use of the latter codes. The fuel centerline temperature calculated with introduction of effective thermal conductivity for centerline temperature calculated with Introduction of effective thermal conductivity for cracked fuel was 200 higher fission gas release predicted with use of the modified model was nearly 6% larger on the average than that calculated by use of the unmodified model used in the SPEAR-BETA code.e SPEAR-BETA code.e.
