  • This study aims to facilitate the integration of digital technology into construction supervision by leveraging construction supervision checklists, a fundamental tool for inspections in this field. To achieve this, this research analyzed the tools and practices used in construction supervision, identifying 12 key supervision task types. These task types formed the basis for developing four distinct digital technologies, each tailored to specific inspection tasks based on practical feasibility. A checklist development process followed with the use of predefined criteria. Checklist items from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport of South Korea were analyzed and categorized according to the identified inspection task types. Digital technologies were then integrated for each task type, with corresponding supervision locations documented. This process enhanced the checklist's effectiveness by incorporating methods for digitizing tasks. The findings suggested that approximately 61% of traditional tasks could be potentially replaced by digital technology, highlighting the potential for successful digitization implementation. In addition, surveys among industry professionals provided insights into the level of productivity enhancement achievable through technology adoption compared to traditional practices, offering a basis for predicting productivity improvements across various disciplines. In conclusion, this research supports the effective integration of digital technology into construction supervision through an enhanced checklist. It also sheds light on practitioners' perceptions of technology usage and aids in developing strategies for technology adoption in this domain.

  • This paper presents a full digital control strategy for parallel connected modular inverter systems. Each modular inverter is a high frequency (HF) AC link inverter which is composed of a HF inverter and a HF transformer followed by a cycloconverter. To achieve equal sharing of the load current and to suppress the circulating currents among the modules, a three-loop control strategy, consisting of a common output voltage regulation (OVR) loop, individual circulating current suppression (CCS) loops and individual inner current tracking (ICT) loops, is proposed. The ICT loops are implemented with predictive current control from which high precision current tracking can be obtained. The effectiveness of the proposed control strategy is verified by simulation and experimental results from parallel connected two full-bridge HF AC link inverter modules.

  • Input-series-output-parallel (ISOP) converters consisting of multiple modular DC/DC converters can enable low voltage rating switches to be used under high voltage input applications. This paper presents a digital control strategy, which can achieve equal sharing of input voltage for a modular ISOP system consisting of two-transistor forward DC/DC converters by forcing the input voltages of neighboring modules to be equal. The proposed scheme is analyzed using small signals analysis based on the state space average method. The performance of the proposed control strategy is verified with an experimental prototype of an ISOP converter made up of three two-switch forward converters.

  • In this paper, I applied grounded theory in exploring how Twitter became the battlefield for China's public diplomacy campaign. China's new move to global social media platforms, such as Twitter and Facebook, has been a controversial strategy in public diplomacy. This study analyzes Chinese Foreign Spokesperson Zhao Lijian's Twitter posts and comments. It models China's recent diplomatic move to Twitter as a "war of words" model, with features including "leadership," "polarization," and "aggression," while exerting possible effects as "resistance," "hatred," and "sarcasm" to the global community. Our findings show that by failing to gage public opinion and promote the country's positive image, China's current digital diplomacy strategy reflected by Zhao Lijian's tweets has instead constructed a polarized political public sphere, contradictory to the country's promoted "shared human destiny." The "war of words" model extends our understanding of China's new digital diplomacy move as a hybrid of state propaganda and self-performance. Such a strategy could spread hate speech and accelerate political polarization in cyberspace, despite improvements to China's homogenous network building on Twitter.
