  • The purpose of this study is to analyze representation of characters of AOS online-game in order to find out the meanings of ontological game characters. This study selects characters of on-line game to analyze representations of game characters by Pierre L$\acute{e}$vy's ontological theory. The characters which represented in on-line games reproduced by costume play in off-line world reflect human desire and construct human existence. Online game character is an existing substance, which could expand human experiences by crossing virtual game world and reality in digital era.

  • This paper describes a 2D discrete-time wavelet transform for which the Q-factor is easily specified. Hence, the transform can be tuned according to the oscillatory behavior of the image signal to which it is applied. The tunable Q-factor wavelet transform (TQWT) is a fully-discrete wavelet transform for which the Q-factor, Q, of the underlying wavelet and the asymptotic redundancy (over-sampling rate), r, of the transform are easily and independently specified. In particular, the specified parameters Q and r can be real-valued. Therefore, by tuning Q, the oscillatory behavior of the wavelet can be chosen to match the oscillatory behavior of the signal of interest, so as to enhance the sparsity of a sparse signal representation. The TQWT is well suited to fast algorithms for sparsity-based inverse problems because it is a Parseval frame, easily invertible, and can be efficiently implemented. The TQWT can also be used as an easily-invertible discrete approximation of the continuous wavelet transform. The transform is based on a real valued scaling factor (dilation-factor) and is implemented using a perfect reconstruction over-sampled filter bank with real-valued sampling factors. The transform is parameterized by its Q-factor and its oversampling rate (redundancy), with modest oversampling rates (e. g. 3-4 times overcomplete) being sufficient for the analysis/synthesis functions to be well localized. Therefore, This method services good performance in image processing fields.

  • The meaning of images are changed rapidly by a time, and the images' social function and skills are different by times. Nowadays, the reasons to have different meanings of images are the different ways of representation and reproduction of images by new digital technologies. However, the images are communicating with each other, and the image makers should have responsibility to represent the images. Also, the images should be concerned in social, cultural context, and focused on positive ways to represent. It is hard to predict the future of images, but people shouldn't be controled by manipulated digital images. Therefore, image makers need to have right ethics and morals in digital era not to be controled by commercial enterprises.

  • There is a growing need for optical communication systems that convert large volumes of data to optical signals and that accommodate and transmit the signals across long distances. Digital optical communication consists of a master unit (MU) and a slave unit (SU). The MU transmits data to SU using digital optical signals. However, digital optical units that are commercially available or are under development transmit data using two's complement representation. At low input levels, a large number of SSOs (simultaneous switching outputs) are required because of the high rate of bit switching in two's complement, which thereby increases the power noise. This problem reduces the overall system capability because a DSP (digital signal processor) chip (FPGA, CPLD, etc.) cannot be used efficiently and power noise increases. This paper proposes a change from two's complement to a more efficient method that produces less SSO noise and can be applied to existing digital optical units.

  • A Timing Diagram is almost used to represent the various signals such as an address bus, a data bus, and the control signals during design and analysis of a digital system. But if so, its representation is somewhat complicated and also it is difficult to analyze the operation of the system. In this paper, we proposed the representation method of timing diagrams with the EMFG(Extended Mark Flow Graph). In the EMFG representation of the system operation, the logical states due to the various signals of the system is graphically represented. Therefore the proposal method allows that it is easy to design as well as analyze the system. As examples applied, we represented the memory read cycle of $\mu$PD70320 CPU and the read cycle of MCM60256A memory with the EMFG.

  • In this paper, a mechanism to enhance the utilization of the tertiary storage devices such as optical disk, digital tape and so on is proposed. For this purpose, we suggest a storage structure with a CD-ROM and multiple disk and design an efficient mechanism to represent the continuous media stored in CD-ROM. The continuous media storage structure proposed in this pater can enhanced the retrieval capability of information by sending data using a shared bus with high bandwidth. And a continuous media representation mechanism not only can reduce the discontinuity of representation using parallel operation of fetch and representation but also minimize the variance of service time and the missing ratio of re-reference requirement by residing frequently accessed object on the disk.

  • Digital media was realized by two-dimensional design backup. But, digital medium decides form of architecture, and act as a design tool that can expand area of thinking. With such social change, investigate for digital architecture. And, wish to analyze design process of digital architecture and search the characteristics. Through comparison of digital and analogue, clear up that the digital world had complex and ambivalent attribute. Define digital design process as "Digital continuum" with characteristic of digital architecture and divided in 3-steps of concept - development - representation. Analyzed digital design process of Frank O, Ghery, Peter Eisenman and Greg Lynn on th assumption division. As a result, design concept is starting from three-dimensional thinking instead of existent two-dimensional thinking. And because general work of process was gone by digital media, "mass costomization" was possible. Also, it gave architect new role. Differ with former days, select various variables, should tuning and cording, and emphasize role as coordinator who must select the result. Digital is summoning very radical and epoch-making change in architecture. At center of these change, digital design process asks architect complex thinking and creative concept.

  • Local languages based information storage and retrieval system is essential for any online digital repository system. This paper reports the development of an interface in Bengali that allows users not only browsing and searching Indic-script based documents but also allows administrator performing various system level operations. This paper briefly describes the origin and key characteristics of Indic-scripts along with their encoding in Unicode standard with special reference to Bengali language. It also demonstrates the development processes of Bengal-script based information representation and retrieval (IRR) system viz. BURA (Burdwan University Research Archive) using different open standard and open source software (OSS) including different factors essential for building such successful Indic-script based multilingual digital libraries. The suggested strategies may help digital library developers to design an appropriate multi-script based information access services in any other Indic-script based languages.

  • Recently, LEDs are used in various fields such as lightings, billboards, displays, and so on. In this paper, we tried to combine a costume with LEDs in a performance environment. To meet the environmental requirements, we propose a digital costume platform which consists of wireless network, an embedded system, a control jacket, a digital skin, and a pattern authoring tool. It is utilized for making a digital costume with LED lighting effects. The embedded system controls LED lighting according to the signals from a show control system through wireless networks. The control jacket can carry the embedded system and connect it with LEDs. The digital skin means a costume with LEDs. The LEDs were designed to fit in performance concept in point of aesthetic. The pattern authoring tool enables users to make timeline-based changing patterns of LED lighting. The proposed platform is a new lighting element in performances. It can expand stage representation techniques and be used as a special effect. It will play a role as a moving light in performances. We evaluated stable operations of our platform by employing it in live performances.

  • Fast binary dilation and erosion algorithms using run-length encoding (RLE) are proposed. RLE is an alternative way of representing a binary image using a run, which is a sequence of '1' pixels. First, we derive the run-based representation of dilation and erosion and then present the full steps of the proposed algorithms in detail.
