  • This study evaluated the current capabilities of generative AI systems, with a focus on their application in AI-driven textile design, particularly through image-generative AI systems. It also explores the potential application and commercialization of Midjourney, an image-generative AI for digital textile design development. First, ChatGPT-4 was used to analyze textile pattern design trends for 2024/2025. The theme "The Heart of the Forest," derived from Premiere Vision and Heimtextil's 2024/2025 textile trends, was selected. Keywords related to textile design were identified, and natural colors from Heimtextil were chosen. Second, images were generated in Midjourney using three commonly used functions: text, image+image, and image+text. The "/blend" feature in Midjourney was used to create images through the image+image command. Images were generated by typing "image+text" when prompted to create an image. Third, Midjourney and CLO 3D were used for performing virtual fitting. Midjourney's ability to generate perfect images from simple text inputs surpasses the capabilities of many professionals. Not only does it accelerate the design process but also enhances the quality of the designs to a professional level or higher. However, despite these advantages, copyright issues must be addressed. Therefore, we anticipate a synergistic effect when a designer's senses and sensibilities are combined with the unlimited creative possibilities of generative AI.

  • This study intended to examine the nature of image which uses the network as the medium in the context of 'post-internet art' and categorize and analyze the cases of applications within art images. In the post-internet art which embraces the background of Web 2.0 and extended digital and network environment, image is transformed and re-mediated into various formats beyond fixed forms. Hito Steyerl defined the image, copied, downloaded, and reedited digitally in low quality as 'poor image.' Young artists, the digital native generation, capture and re-contextualize the changed network environment and depict it in various images. In this context, the application of image in post-internet art can be categorized and analyzed into the 'Image Collected as Material' produced by collecting and recomposing images found in social media, operating system, and website, 'Image Processed through Work' which is newly processed and re-contextualized by using editing programs, and 'Combined Digital-Reality Image' which represents the section of the digital society as the film and image that combine virtuality and reality.

  • Digital image processing algorithm was proposed to measure the area inside of an object image using angle-distance graph used to analyze the pattern of an object in the digital image processing techniques. The first angle-distance graph is generated from a point inside of an object area. The second angle-distance graphs are generated for the areas missed in the first graph by extracting the positions with large gradient in the first angle-distance graph. The order of the graph increases according to the complexity of an object pattern. Size of the area inside of an object boundary is measured by integrating square of distance multiplied by angle for each area from the hierarchical angie-distance graphs.

  • Image compression plays an important role in encoding and improving various forms of images in the digital era. Recent researches have focused on the principle of deep learning as one of the most exciting machine learning methods to show that it is good scheme to analyze, classify and compress images. Various neural networks are able to adapt for image compressions, such as deep neural networks, artificial neural networks, recurrent neural networks and convolution neural networks. In this review paper, we discussed how to apply the rule of deep learning to obtain better image compression with high accuracy, low loss-ness and high visibility of the image. For those results in performance, deep learning methods are required on justified manner with distinct analysis.

  • To manufacture a real time digital holographic display system capable of being applied to next-generation television, it is important to rapidly generate a digital hologram. In this paper, we analyze digital hologram rendering based on a computer computation scheme. We analyze previous recursive methods to identify regularity between the depth-map image and the digital hologram.

  • Because a logo is a medium that connects between consumers and corporations or brands, designing memorable logo images is vital. Although predicting logo's memorability for brand marketing is essential, there have been only few researches that deal with memorability of logo images. In this paper, we analyze the memorability characteristics in logo images by performing experiments based upon our proposed prediction method for logo image's memorability. Our proposed research consists of three phases: crowdsourcing for memorability computing, computational phase for logo image's memorability, and development of a prediction model. Using computed memorability of logo images by "Visual Memory Game," we analyze the different characteristics of logo's memorability. We first developed a novel computational method that reflects logo image's color and shape. Each computational method on color and shape are selected by comparing the correlations between result values and ground truth memorability. Selected computational value is then converged with generic image feature descriptors such as SIFT and HoG to make a prediction model of logo's memorability. Using our method, we obtain reasonable performances in predicting logo image's memorability.

  • Personal image concerns a person's talent, expertise, as well as the internal and external image. It is a core value that differentiates one individual from another. As personal branding via personal image management has become more important, there is a fast-growing number of online systems that provide self-test programs to analyze one's style and habits and also provide expert advice for not only styles but lifestyles as well. This study develops a systematic and objective personal image consulting system and offers basic information for the research of personal image making. For that purpose, the study attempts to examine the present state of global companies that use online image consulting programs and analyze their digital content. The results are as follows: 1) two domestic companies, Colorz and Atzine, and seven foreign companies, notably Covet and Boutique, were brisk in business; 2) two types of personal image-diagnosis programs - Visual search and Virtual matching - are now in operation; and 3) mobile applications exist as an evolved personal image-diagnosis program. With an increased interest in such programs, various companies at home and abroad are establishing systematic and scientific analysis systems, which are needed for personal image-making online. Under these circumstances, domestic companies are also urged to enhance levels of image-diagnosis content and actual commercialization and utilization, to develop programs that enable objectified, systematic personal image-making. To this end, the results of this study may serve as a helpful tool to consider future directions.

  • Fractal geometry, a relatively new branch of mathematics, was first introduced by Benoit Mandelbrot in 1975. Since then, its applications have expanded into various fields of natural science. In fact, it has been recognized as one of the three significant scientific discoveries of the mid-20th century, along with the Dissipative System and Chaos Theory. With the help of fractal geometry, designers can create intricate and expressive artistic patterns, using the concept of self-similarity found in nature. The impact of fractal geometry on the digital art world is significant and its exploration could lead to new avenues for creativity and expression. This paper aims to explore and analyze the development and applications of fractal geometry in digital art design. It also aims to showcase the benefits of applying fractal geometry in art creation and paves the way for future research on sacred geometry.

  • Retinex-based image enhancement is a technique that utilizes the property that the human visual characteristics are sensitive to the difference from the surrounding pixel value rather than the pixel value itself. These Retinex-based algorithms show different characteristics of the improved image depending on the applied color space or gamma correction. In this paper, we set eight different experimental conditions according to the application of color space and gamma correction, and analyze the objective and subjective performance of each Retinex based image enhancement algorithm and apply it to the implementation of Retinex based algorithm. In the case of gamma correction, quantitative low entropy images and low contrast images are obtained. The application of Retinex technique in HSI color space rather than RGB color space is found to be high in overall subjective image quality as well as maintaining color.
