  • Recently, digital realizations of timing recovery circuits for digital data transmission are of growing interest. As a result of digital realization of timing recovery circuits, new digital algorithms for timing error detection are required. In this paper, we present a new digital Angular Form(AF) algorithm which can be directly applied to QPSK modulation technique. AF algorithm is basically developed on the concepts of detected angle form and transition logic table. We evaluated the performance of this algorithm by Monte-Carlo simulation method under Gaussian and Impulsive noise environments. From the performance evaluation result, we show that the performance of AF Algorithm is better than that of Gardner in BER, RMS jitter, S-curve.

  • The abilities to effectively use and create technology to solve complex problems are the new and essential literacy skills of the twenty-first century. Digital literacy is an essential tool to support other subjects and all jobs. The digital literacy requires several thinking skills, an awareness of the necessary standards of behaviour expected in online environments, and an understanding of the shared social issues created by digital technologies. The government tried to cultivate communication ability to solve various problems creatively and efficiently through software education in the 2015 revised national curriculum and to raise communication ability and community consciousness through collaborative problem solving process. In this paper, we analyze whether the 2015 revised curriculum can develop digital literacy ability through educational contents of software curriculum.

  • After the outbreak of COVID-19, the demand for home-enjoyable video games has surged, driven by extended pandemic conditions and resulting in rapid graphic technology advancements. Consequently, games with diverse expression techniques have emerged, captivating players. Virtual Reality (VR) environments predominantly feature natural landscapes, with advancing graphic technology enabling lifelike scenes. The rise in individuals seeking solace through natural elements in games has followed suit. As VR technology and metaverse interest grow, more people are exposed to digital imagery. However, evidence on the influence of graphic expression methods on emotional response to that is lacking. Our study examined user emotional responses, focusing on natural landscapes in digital graphics of games. Analyzing a group of 47 young adults as frequent digital media consumers, we studied reactions to different image styles (Realism, Semi-Realism, Stylized). In the analysis, Realism-style images were perceived the most positively, while emotional responses to natural landscapes with different graphical expressions showed no significant differences. Results suggest that recognizing digital natural landscapes may outweigh expression style impacting the evaluation of digital nature. This study's empirical analysis enhances the understanding of digital nature's application to actual situations.

  • In this paper, we propose a new digital duplexing scheme, called SDD(Synchronous Digital Duplexing), which can increase data efficiency and flexibility of resource by transmitting uplink signal and downlink signal simultaneously. In order to transmit uplink data and downlink data simultaneously, the proposed SDD obtains mutual informations between AP(access point) and each SSs(subscriber station), SS and other SSs by mutual ranging procedure. These informations are used for selection of transmission time, decision of CS insertion, setting of CS length, and FFT duration resetting, etc. It is shown that the proposed SDD is appropriate for duplexing scheme in indoor environments over the conventional TDD(Time Division Duplexing) and FDD(Frequency Division Duplexing).

  • The development of digital technology has given rise to a new service model: self-service. This model introduces the concept of "digital shadow work", in which consumers conduct unpaid behind-the-scenes digital tasks instead of employees. While consumers are engaging in increasingly more digital shadow work in self-service environments, they are unaware of their unpaid labor. This raises concerns about consumer rights and businesses' long-term sustainability and health. This study aims to reveal the psychological awareness factors that influence consumers' decisions to engage in digital shadow work in self-service environments. This exploratory qualitative study utilizes a grounded theory approach and semi-structured interviews to reveal the psychological awareness factors that contribute to consumers' decision to engage in digital shadow work. By revealing the psychological awareness of decision-making factors, this study enhances consumer's understanding and awareness of digital shadow work, which helps increase their awareness of self-protection in the context of self-service technologies. Additionally, understanding consumers' decision-making psychology is crucial for non-face-to-face self-service technology companies and provides a theoretical basis for sustainable and healthy business development.

  • The west coast of the Korean Peninsula is famous for its large tidal range (up to 9 m) and vast tidal flats. With comparison the sedimentary environments of open and close tidal flat using remote sensing, we select Kanghwa tidal flat and Hwang-Do tidal flat in Cheonsu Bay. Prior to surface sediment discrimination using remote sensing, sedimentary environments including intertidal OEM, hydraulic condition, and relationship between grain size and various tidal condition are investigated. Remote sensing has the potential to provide synoptic information of intertidal environments. The objectives of this study are: (i) to generate an intertidal digital elevation model (OEM) using the waterline method of Lansat TM/ETM+, (ii) to investigate the tidal channel distribution using texture analysis, and (iii) to analyze the relationship between surface grain size by using in-situ data and intertidal OEM and tidal channel density by using high-resolution satellite data such as IKONOS and Kompsat EOC. The results demonstrate that satellite remote sensing is an efficient and effective tool for a surface sediment discrimination and long term morphologic change estimation in tidal flats.

  • In this paper we evaluate the performances of two types of 16-QAM system such as square QAM and star QAM. First we analyze the performances of QAM systems under AWGN(adaptive white Gaussian noise) and afterward analyze the performances under fading environments. The performances of QAM systems in case of using the PSAM(Pilot Symbol Assisted Modulation) are finally evaluated under fading environments. In conclusion, the Square QAM's performance is better than star QAM in AWGN. But the performances of the both QAM systems are very poor under the fading environments. QAM performance using the PSAM system is verified to be improved in that case, and the star QAM's performance is better than square QAM.

  • In digital radio broadcasting systems, long delays are incurred in service start time when tuning to a particular frequency because several synchronization steps, such as symbol timing synchronization, frame synchronization, and carrier frequency offset and sampling frequency offset compensation are necessary. Therefore, the operation of the synchronization blocks causes delays ranging from several hundred milliseconds to a few seconds until the start of the radio service after frequency tuning. Furthermore, if spectrum inversed signals are transmitted in digital radio broadcasting systems, the receivers are unable to decode them, even though most receivers can demodulate the spectral inversed signals in analog radio broadcasting systems. Accordingly, fast synchronization techniques and a method for spectral inversion detection are required in digital radio broadcasting systems that are to replace the analog radio systems. This paper presents a joint detection method of frame, integer carrier frequency offset, and spectrum inversion for DRM Plus digital broadcasting systems. The proposed scheme can detect the frame and determine whether the signal is normal or spectral inversed without any carrier frequency offset and sampling frequency offset compensation, enabling fast frame synchronization. The proposed method shows outstanding performance in environments where symbol timing offsets and sampling frequency offsets exist.

  • To ensure competitiveness in the modern automotive market, material arrangements and information managements should be performed concurrently with new car developments. In automotive general assembly shops, thus, new business workflow and supporting environments are inevitable to reduce the manufacturing preparation time in developing a new car in the manner of concurrent and collaborative engineering. Since complete material arrangements for a whole general assembly system is a huge and complex job, several planners should execute their planning jobs and share information. Therefore, each planner should provide others with his/her results with continuous on-line communication and cooperation. Digital automotive general assembly factory is useful the performing concurrent and collaborative engineering and is essential for material arrangements and information managements systems. In this research, we constructed a sophisticated digital factory of an automotive general assembly shop by measuring and modeling through the parametric 3-D CAD, and a web-based system for concurrent and collaborative material arrangements for automotive general assembly via 3D mock-up is developed. By the digital general assembly shop and developed web-based system, savings in time and colt of manufacturing preparation activities are possible, and the reliability of the planning result Is greatly improved.
