A Study on Production of Optimum Profile Considered Color Rendering in Input Device (입력 장치에서 컬러 랜더링을 고려한 최적의 프로파일 제작에 관한 연구)

  • Advancements in digital image have put high quality digital camera into the hands of many image professionals and consumers alike. High quality digital camera images consist originally of raw which have a set of color rendering operation applied to them to produce good images. With color rendering, the raw file was converted to Adobe RGB and sRGB color space. Also color rendering can incorporate factor such as white balance, contrast, saturation. Therefore, in this paper we conduct a study on production of optimum profile considered color rendering in digital camera. To do the experiment, the images were Digital ColorChecker SG target and ColorChecker DC target. A profiling tool was ProfileMaker 5.03. The results were analyzed by comparing in color gamut of $CIEL^*a^*b^*$ color space and calculating ${\Delta}E^*_{ab}$. Also results were analyzed in terms of different $CIEL^*a^*b^*$ color space quadrants based on lightness, chroma.

ADC-Based Backplane Receivers: Motivations, Issues and Future

  • The analog-to-digital-converter-based (ADC-based) backplane receivers that consist of a front-end ADC followed by a digital equalizer are gaining more popularity in recent years, as they support more sophisticated equalization required for high data rates, scale better with fabrication technology, and are more immune to PVT variations. Unfortunately, designing an ADC-based receiver that meets tight power and performance budgets of high-speed backplane link systems is non-trivial as both front-end ADC and digital equalizer can be power consuming and complex when running at high speed. This paper reviews the state of art designs for the front-end ADC and digital equalizers to suggest implementation choices that can achieve high speed while maintaining low power consumption and complexity. Design-space exploration using system-level models of the ADC-based receiver allows through analysis on the impact of design parameters, providing useful information in optimizing the power and performance of the receiver at the early stage of design. The system-level simulation results with newer device parameters reveal that, although the power consumption of the ADC-based receiver may not comparable to the receivers with analog equalizers yet, they will become more attractive as the fabrication technology continues to scale as power consumption of digital equalizer scales well with process.

  • Digital signage is becoming part of daily life across a wide range of visual advertisements segments market used in stations, hotels, retail stores, hotels, etc. The current digital signage system used in market is generally works on limited user interactivity with static contents. In this paper, a new approach is proposed using computer vision based dynamic audience adaptive cost-effective digital signage system. The proposed design uses the Camera attached Raspberry Pi Open source platform to employ the real-time audience interaction using computer vision algorithms to extract facial features of the audience. The real-time facial features are extracted using Haar Cascade algorithm which are used for audience gender specific rendering of dynamic digital signage content. The audience facial characterization using Haar Cascade is evaluated on the FERET database with 95% accuracy for gender classification. The proposed system, developed and evaluated with male and female audiences in real-life environments camera embedded raspberry pi with good level of accuracy.

  • In this paper, as a compatible software radio transmission system, Digital-Radio conversion system which can directly change the digital signal generated by the logic circuit into radio signal is proposed. By the vector synthesis method, the digital signals can change directly into radio signal. If such a circuit is realized, RF circuit and an antenna can be composed by the simple one device, and the radio is directly controlled and performed by the software processing which is the essence of software radio. This Digital-Radio conversion system of this paper give many number of communication channels being offered by PN code and offer a hardware design flexibility by digitization, therefore it decrease the percentage ratio of hardware of system and give a more flexible function of software basis. In this paper, the principle of digital to radio signal generation algorithm is explained and the performance characteristics of proposed algorithm is shown in time base by the computer simulation method.

Frame Rearrangement Method by Time Information Remarked on Recovered Image (복원된 영상에 표기된 시간 정보에 의한 프레임 재정렬 기법)

  • To analyze the crime scene, the role of digital evidence such as CCTV and black box is very important. Such digital evidence is often damaged due to device defects or intentional deletion. In this case, the deleted video can be restored by well-known techniques like the frame-based recovery method. Especially, the data such as the video can be generally fragmented and saved in the case of the memory used almost fully. If the fragmented video were recovered in units of images, the sequence of the recovered images may not be continuous. In this paper, we proposed a new video restoration method to match the sequence of recovered images. First, the images are recovered through a frame-based recovery technique. Then, after analyzing the time information marked on the images, the time information was extracted and recognized via optical character recognition (OCR). Finally, the recovered images are rearranged based on the time information obtained by OCR. For performance evaluation, we evaluate the recovery rate of our proposed video restoration method. As a result, it was shown that the recovery rate for the fragmented video was recovered from a minimum of about 47% to a maximum of 98%.

A Case Study on Digital Interactive Training Content <Tamagotchi> and <Peridot>

  • Having pet is one of the activities people living in modern society do to relieve stress and find peace of mind. Currently, the object of companion animals has moved beyond being a real 'living entity' and has developed to a stage where the animal's upbringing process can be enjoyed in a virtual space by being programmed in digital content. This paper studies detailed elements such as character design, interaction, and realism of 'Tamagotchi (1996)', which can be said to be the beginning of digital training content, and 'Peridot (2023)', a recently introduced augmented reality-based training content. The point was that it was training content using portable electronic devices. However, while the environment in the electronic device in which Tamagotchi's character exists was a simple black and white screen, the environment in which Peridot's character operates has been changed to the real world projected on the screen based on augmented reality. Mutual communication with characters in Tamagotchi remained a response to pressing buttons, but in Peridot, it has advanced to the point where you can pet the characters by touching the smartphone screen. In addition, through object and step recognition, it was confirmed that the sense of reality had become more realistic, with toys thrown by users on the screen bouncing off real objects. We hope that this research material will serve as a useful reference for the development of digital training content to be developed in the near future.

  • As the demand for a healthy life increases and the use of information technology expands, interest in digital healthcare has increased. Among the digital healthcare technologies, digital therapeutics (DTx), which are capable of disease prevention, management, and treatment rather than simple healthcare, are expected to play a key role in future healthcare services. As interest in untact remote treatment that can minimize the risk of viral infection has rapidly increased since the spread of COVID-19, the application of DTx has received much attention because it can partially replace face-to-face treatment for mental illnesses, chronic diseases, and other diseases, reducing concerns about infection. In addition, because of the nature of software, DTx have lower toxicity and fewer side effects than existing treatments and do not require manufacturing, transportation, and storage like general medicines. Hence, they can be supplied in large quantities at low cost and have the advantage of lowering medical costs. However, despite these advantages, it has been pointed out that there are difficulties in investment and universal use because of the complexity of pricing and malpractice compensation. In other words, if it is difficult to prove and measure the improvements in disease management and treatment using DTx and it takes a considerable amount of time and money to do so, it will be difficult to attract investment from stakeholders such as medical providers and pharmaceutical companies. In this paper, we examine the domestic and global application status and development trends of DTx and determine the relevant implications.

Principles for evaluating the clinical implementation of novel digital healthcare devices (첨단 디지털 헬스케어 의료기기를 진료에 도입할 때 평가원칙)

  • With growing interest in novel digital healthcare devices, such as artificial intelligence (AI) software for medical diagnosis and prediction, and their potential impacts on healthcare, discussions have taken place regarding the regulatory approval, coverage, and clinical implementation of these devices. Despite their potential, 'digital exceptionalism' (i.e., skipping the rigorous clinical validation of such digital tools) is creating significant concerns for patients and healthcare stakeholders. This white paper presents the positions of the Korean Society of Radiology, a leader in medical imaging and digital medicine, on the clinical validation, regulatory approval, coverage decisions, and clinical implementation of novel digital healthcare devices, especially AI software for medical diagnosis and prediction, and explains the scientific principles underlying those positions. Mere regulatory approval by the Food and Drug Administration of Korea, the United States, or other countries should be distinguished from coverage decisions and widespread clinical implementation, as regulatory approval only indicates that a digital tool is allowed for use in patients, not that the device is beneficial or recommended for patient care. Coverage or widespread clinical adoption of AI software tools should require a thorough clinical validation of safety, high accuracy proven by robust external validation, documented benefits for patient outcomes, and cost-effectiveness. The Korean Society of Radiology puts patients first when considering novel digital healthcare tools, and as an impartial professional organization that follows scientific principles and evidence, strives to provide correct information to the public, make reasonable policy suggestions, and build collaborative partnerships with industry and government for the good of our patients.

A Cultural Approach to the Digital transition (지상파 TV의 디지털 전환에 대한 문화적 인식과 접근)

  • Digital TV is expected to usher in a new era of TV. Thanks to digital and network technologies, TV will no more be a dumb terminal as it is today. It will incorprate the computer and thus become an intelligent device which serves not only high quality broadcast programming, but a variety of information services much like the current networked-computer. However, the real world picture of digital TV is clearly different from such a rosy vision. Albeit too early to tell, the cases in Europe and the US attest that the digital transition suffers a setback in terms of technology, policy, business, marketing, and the users. As such, the digital transition is generally problematized in terms of policy, business model, marketing strategy, and so on. Comparatively speaking, the issues of technology, policy, business and marketing are not so complicated than that of digital TV users because of the cultural issues involved in the adoption of digital TV. In other words, the technological transition to digital TV is far easier than its cultural transition. The cultural transition demands policy makers and industries of different approaches to successfully facilitating the digital transition.
