  • In this paper, we introduced the BQBPH method for making the grating of high efficiency which was improtant in implementing optical PS. The pattern of graing was obtianed by computer simulations using iterative method, and the diffraction efficeincy of designed grating was about 67% through BPM simulation. The grating was fabricated by laser beam writer, and the diffraction efficiency BPM simulation. The grating was fabricated by laser beam writer, and the diffraction efficiency was 47%. We implemented the optical PS with the grating and showed that optical experimental output patterns were good agreement with PS output patterns and first order was main diffraction order.

  • We propose a custom analysis technique for the dark field (DF) image based on transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The custom analysis technique is developed based on the $DigitalMicrograph^{(R)}$ (DM) script language embedded in the Gatan digital microscopy software, which is used as the operational software for most TEM instruments. The developed software automatically scans an electron beam across a TEM sample and records a series of electron diffraction patterns. The recorded electron diffraction patterns provide DF and ADF images based on digital image processing. An experimental electron diffraction pattern is recorded from a IrMn polycrystal consisting of fine nanograins in order to test the proposed software. We demonstrate that the developed image processing technique well resolves nanograins of ~ 5 nm in diameter.

  • Blue phase shows several different reflection colors from the randomly oriented domains and crystal direction. Also there are variations in the size of domains. The domain size is dependent on the temperature gradient. With smaller cooling rate of temperature, the domain size was increased compared with rapid cooling. With injection of light of specific wavelength, we find that the diffraction patterns were occurred around the light spot in the cell of blue phase. It was supposed to be from the matching of the phase retardation and domain size. However, actually the diffraction pattern is reflecting the lattice structure in double twist of the blue phase. The lattice constant from the radius of diffraction patterns shows very similar one from the reflection spectrum, which indicates the internal lattice constant in double twist of the blues phase.

  • Poly(trimethylene terephthalate-co-trimethylene 2,6-naphthalate)s (P(TT-co-TN)s) with various copolymer composition were synthesized, and their chain structure, thermal property and crystalline structure were investigated by using $^1$H-NMR spectroscopy, differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and wide-angle X-ray diffraction (WAXD), respectively. It was found from sequence analysis that all the P(TT-co-TN) copolymers synthesized have a statistical random distribution of TT and TN units. It was also observed from DSC thermograms that the glass transition temperature increases linearly with increasing the TN comonomer content, whereas the melting temperature of copolymer decreases with increasing the corresponding comonomer content in respective PTT- and PTN-based copolymer, showing pseudo-eutectic melting behavior. All the samples melt-crystallized isothermally except for P(TT-co-66 mol % TN) exhibit multiple melting endotherms and clear X-ray diffraction patterns. The multiple melting behavior originates from the dual lamellar population and/or the melting-recrystallization-remelting. The X-ray diffraction patterns are largely divided into two classes depending on the copolymer composition, i.e., PTT and PTN $\beta$-form diffraction patterns, without exhibiting cocrystallization.

  • The formula of the diffraction patterns which were made by the grating with the variable periods were derived. The diffraction patterns which had the various data value of the variable periods were simulated by the IBM PC., and the characteristics of the patterns were discussed. The purposes of this study was to find the periods of the real grating and their degree of variation by using the results of the experiment.

  • We fabricate poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiopene patterns using liquid-bridge-mediated nanotransfer (LB-nTM) printing via vapor phase polymerization (VPP). LB-nTM printing method can simultaneously enable the synthesis, alignment and patterning of the nanowires from molecular ink solutions. Two- or three-dimensional complex structures of VPP-PEDOT were directly fabricated over a large area using many types of molecular inks. VPP method is a versatile technique that can be used to obtain highly conducting coatings of conjugated polymer on both conducting and non-conducting substrates. The PEDOT patterns has analyzed crystallinity from X-ray diffraction pattern and select-area diffraction patterns. In addition, the PEDOT pattern has high conductivity compared other conducting polymers.

  • The far-zone scattered field patterns of a hyperbolic reflector antenna are analyzed by using uniform geometrical theory of diffraction(UTD). The main objective of this paper is to obtain the higher order diffraction contributions which provide the continuity over the shadow boundaries of the first order solution. to obtain the scattered magnetic field characteristics, the scattered field components of the secodn-order diffraction, diffraction-reflection, diffraction-reflection-diffraction terms are added to the result of the previous research. The results of the present research are compared to those of the first order solution and the method of moments. One can observe the improvemtn of the current approach over the first order solution. also, the results of the present method agree very well with those of the moment methods especially in the transition regions near the first order diffraction shadow boundaries.

  • Diffraction patterns of electromagnetic fields for the incidence of E-polarized plane wave on both interfaces of an arbitrary-angle dielect wedge are obtained by sum of geometric optics term and the edge diffracted fields. The diffraction coefficients of the edge diffracted fields are evaluated by employing the physical optics approximation and then correcting its error with the multipole line source at the dielectric edge. For the wedge angle $120^{circ}$, the incident angle $60^{circ}$, the relative dielectric constant of the dielectric wedge, 2, 5, and 10, and the observation distance from the tip of the wedge, 5 and 10 wavelength, the diffraction coefficients and the diffraction patterns corresponding to geometric optics, physical optics, and the solution corrected by the multipole line source are plotted, respectively. While the corrected solutions presented in this paper are valid only in the far-field region, these asymptotic solutions show to satisfy the boundary condition on the dielectric interfaces.

  • High-quality one-dimensional GaN nanorods and nanowires were synthesized on Ni-coated c-plan sapphire substrate using halide vapor-phase epitaxy (HVPE). Their structure and optical properties were investigated by X-ray diffraction, scanning and transmission electron microscopy, and photoluminescence techniques. Full substrate coverage of densely packed, uniform, straight and aligned one-dimensional GaN nanowires with a diameter of 80nm were grown at $700{\sim}900^{\circ}C$. The X-ray diffraction patterns, transmission electron microscopic image, and selective area electron diffraction patterns indicate that the one-dimensional GaN nanostructures are a pure single crystalline and preferentially oriented in the [001] direction. We observed high optical quality of GaN nanowires by photoluminescence analysis.

  • Diffraction patterns of the electromagnetic field scattered by a circular cylindrical cavity embedded in a dielectric medium are analyzed. When the wavelength of the incident wave is comparable to the radius of the cavity, strong double dips occur at the locations corresponding to the top and the bottom of the cavity. Furthermore, the phase changes abruptly about the dip points. The changes of the amplitude and the phase patterns are observed as the measuring distance and the signal frequency varies. The effects of the change of the medium dielectric constant on the diffraction pattern is also presented.
