This research was focused on the identification of difficult temperament of childhood. In order to identify the difficult temperament of childhood 336 of 3 and 6 graders were investigated. the difficult temperament of childhood was defined as the cahracteristics which were perceived as difficult for taking care of by mothers related to negative mother's attitude and related to the children's low competence. Mothers felt difficult in caring for the children with high activity and negative mood. Mothers showed negative attitude to the children with negative mood and low persistence. And the children with unpredictability and low persistence had lower perceived competence. In short high activity unpredictability negative mood and low persistence might be said as difficult temperament of childhood, These temperament categories-activity predictability mood and persistence-appeared as one factor in factor analysis. unpredictability negative mood and low persistency were shown as the difficult temperament in other studies but high activity should be examined more carefully.
This study investigated the characteristics of children perceived as difficult by their mothers and compared these characteristics with the "difficult temperament" from the NYLS. The subjects were 36 mothers who have more than one child between 3 and 6 years of age. The descriptions from in-depth interviews were analyzed qualitatively. The results showed that (1) Korean mothers perceived the difficult temperament of their child as low adaptability, low rhythmicity in sleep habits, negative mood, and high activity. High response sensitivity was perceived as both a positive and a difficult characteristic. (2) The temperament of their children mothers perceived as most difficult for child rearing were negative mood and low manageability. (3) The activity, adaptability, rhythmicity, response sensitivity, mood and manageability characteristics of Korean children's difficult temperament was different from the difficult temperament of the Nyls.

In Japan, the children with problem behavior have been called the difficult children. However, the definitions of the difficult children in the medical, health, childcare and education are different. As a result, it is difficult to support for the needs of children. In addition, the difficult children have been influenced by the subjectivity of the teachers. IN-Child (Inclusive Needs Child) is defined by the result of this study. IN-Child means "Child in need of inclusive education by a team, including experts. It does not depend on intellectual and developmental delays due to physical, mental, home environment." We developed the IN-Child record that enables the educational diagnosis of IN-Child. IN-Child record was made to organize and analyze of the items by experts including 3 researchers and 2 teachers. As a result, it was classified into two domains of "cause" and "effect". The domain of "cause" is classified by two domains of "physical" and "mental". The domain of effect is classified by two domains of "daily living" and "learning".

The objective of this study was to compare the family environment and developmental history of three groups of children classified by their temperament. The parents of 484 Korean children aged between 3 and 7 years completed the Korean version of Parental Temperamental Questionnaire developed by Thomas and Chess and Developmental Questionnaire created by Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Samsung Medical Center. After clustering these children into 5 temperamental groups according to the method proposed by Fullard et al, 98 Easy, 36 Difficult, and 21 Slow-To-Warm-Up children were included in the analysis. Statistically meaningful differences observed among three groups were as follow:1) Marital conflict of parents was more frequent in Difficult and Slow-To-Warm-Up children than in Easy children. 2) Parentchild conflict was more frequent in Difficult children than in Easy children. 3) Conflict among siblings was more frequent in Difficult children than in Easy children. 4) Average monthly income of family was less in Difficult children than in Easy children. 5) Toilet training was achieved later in Difficult children than in Easy children. 6) Motor development was slower, between 2 and 5 years old, in Slow-To-Warm-Up children than in Easy children. 7) Fear of stranger started earlier in Slow-To-Warm-Up children than in easy children. 8) Physical health was poorer in Difficult and Slow-To-Warm-Up children than in easy children. The findings indicate that Difficult child or Slow-To-Warm-Up child group have unfavorable family environment, different developmental milestone and poorer physical health in comparison with Easy child group.
Objective: This study aims investigate the moderating effect of mothers' overprotective parenting in the influence of young children's competence, as determined by their temperament, on mastery motivation. Methods: An online survey was conducted on 429 mothers with children aged 3-5. The collected data was analyzed using K-means clustering in SPSS 23.0 and the Process macro Model 2. Results: Children's temperaments were categorized into four types : easy-active temperament, easy-inactive temperament, slow temperament, and difficult temperament. It was confirmed that children's competence directly affected their mastery motivation when they had easy-inactive, slow, or difficult temperament. It was also found that mothers' intrusive control had a direct main effect on object persistence when children had easy temperament, while there was no effect on mastery pleasure. The moderating effects of mothers' anxious protection on the pathway from children's competence to object persistence were significant only among children with a slow temperament. Conclusion/Implications: This study highlights the need for mothers to adapt their parenting behavior to their children's temperament type. The study confirmed partial moderating effects of mothers' overprotective parenting in the influence of children's competence, as determined by their temperament, on mastery motivation.
Objective: This study investigated the relationships between preschoolers' difficult temperament, resilience, problematic behaviors, and maternal parenting stress. In addition, the research examined the moderating effects of resilience on the relationships between maternal parenting stress, preschoolers'difficult temperament and problematic behaviors Methods: The participants were 200 four to six year olds attending kindergartens and daycare centers in Seoul, Gyeonggi-do, or Gangwon-do. Mothers completed the questionaries to measure children's temperament, parenting stress, and problem behaviors. Children's resilience was assessed by teacher ratings. Results: Significant correlations were found among maternal parenting stress, preschoolers' difficult temperament and problematic behaviors. Moreover, resilience moderated the associations between difficult temperament and problematic behaviors but it did not moderate the relation between maternal parenting stress and problematic behaviors. Conclusion/Implications: The results suggest that it is necessary to provide comprehensive intervention to reduce maternal parenting stress and improve preschoolers'resilience in order to prevent their problematic behaviors.
This study investigated age differences in children's expression of pride and shame by their age, and type and level of task difficulty when they succeeded of failed on tasks. The subjects were 55 4-year-old children from 2 day-care centers and 37 7-year-old children from I elementary school. Each child participated in pride and shame assessment sessions. Data were analyzed by repeated measures ANOVA, t-test, paired t-test, Pearson's correlations. When they succeeded on tasks, 4-year-olds showed more pride than 7-year-olds. More pride was shown when subjects succeeded on difficult than on easy tasks. An interaction effect for pride was found between age, and type and level of task difficulty. Seven-year-olds showed more shame than 4-year-olds when they failed on tasks. More shame was shown when subjects failed on easy than on difficult tasks. The expression of pride was positively related to the expression of shame.
In this study, a survey was conducted on the development of meal kits for children's foodservice to increase the convenience of the cooking process. It was performed among the foodservice managers in the 141 children's foodservice facilities registered in the Center for Children's Foodservice Management about meal-kits in Changwon areas. The survey results were analyzed according to the children's foodservice scale type. The biggest problem in a foodservice system was "difficult to purchase food ingredients directly every week" (38.4%) in small-scale children's foodservices, and "difficult to use the served menu without modification" (38.2%) in institutional children's foodservices (P<0.001). The most important factor when choosing the meal kit was "quality" (41.1%). Respondents on having an experience with using the meal kit were low at 34.8%, and the reasons for not using the meal kits were "expensive" (67.3%) and "not fresh food ingredients" (18.4%). The main reasons for not using children's foodservice meal kits were "expensiveness" (64.4%) and "necessity of adding disinfection process" (16.1%). Most of the reasons for not wanting to use children's foodservice meal kits were that they did not trust the safety of the meal kits. The use of meal kits in children's foodservices may reduce the preparation process and increase the efficiency of foodservice although the safety and quality of meal kits should be guaranteed. The appropriate hygiene management standards need to be set, and HACCP should be applied to develop meal kits for children's foodservices.
This case study investigated the assessment and treatment of bilingual children using a 4.5 year old bilingual child. We also compared treatment methods for bilingual children in the U.S. and in Korea, respectively. Given the lack of unbiased assessment tools, it was difficult to evaluate the child properly. In addition, the study of the linguistic characteristics of bilingual children have not been researched extensively in Korea. As a result, there were limitations in assessing the child. However, once all requisite information had been gathered, he was assessed as a bilingual child with specific language impairment (SLI) and his skill in both languages was considered equivalent. During treatment sessions, the child exhibited diverse linguistic characteristics and interesting error patterns which were not evident in monolingual SLI. However, it was difficult to assess whether the error patterns exhibited by the subject were attributable to his own bilingual characteristics or not. This was further complicated by the lack of previous research on the bilingual child's linguistic characteristics. His progress differed from one area to another. Furthermore, we illustrated some of the limitations in assessing bilingual children and proposed several considerations that should be met before treatment is initiated.
Even though there are lots of learning theory and learning Instruments today, it is still difficult to teach the children individually taking their learning ability into consideration. In this case lower level children may be discouraged and cannot catch up the next course. The purpose of this paper is to design and develop webb-based courseware on arithmetics for the disabled children and apply the program to the class field. This program is very useful for the left-behind children because it enables the repetitive and visible learning.
