The Differentiated Services (Diffserv) framework has been proposed by the IETF as a simple service structure that can provide different Quality of Service (QoS) to different classes of packets in IP networks. IP packets are classified into one of a limited number of service classes, and are marked in the packet header for easy classification and differentiated treatments when transferred within a Diffserv domain. The Diffserv framework defines simple and efficient QoS differentiation mechanisms for the Internet. However, the original Diffserv concept does not provide a complete QoS management framework. Since traffic flows in IP networks are unidirectional from one network point to the other and routing paths and traffic demand get dynamically altered, it is important to monitor end-to-end traffic status, as well as traffic status in a single node. This paper suggests a distributed QoS monitoring method that collects the statistical data of each service class in every Diffserv router and calculates edge-to-edge QoS of the aggregated IP flows by combining routing topology and traffic status. A format modeling of edge-to-edge Diffserv flows and algorithms for aggregating edge-to-edge QoS is presented. Also an SNMP-based QoS management prototype system for Diffserv networks is presented, which validates our QoS management framework and demonstrates useful service management functionality.
In this paper, an efficient Adaptive quality-of-service (QoS) traffic control scheme with priority scheduling is proposed for the multimedia traffic transmission over wireless access networks. The objective of the proposed adaptive QoS control (AQC) scheme is to realize end-to-end QoS, to be scalable without the excess signaling process, and to adapt dynamically to the network traffic state according to traffic flow characteristics. Here, the reservation scheme can be used over the wireless access network in order to get the per-flow guarantees necessary for implementation of some kinds of multimedia applications. The AQC model is based on both differentiated service model with different lier hop behaviors and priority scheduling one. It consists of several various routers, access points, and bandwidth broker and adopts the IEEE 802.1 le wireless radio technique for wireless access interface. The AQC scheme includes queue management and packet scheduler to transmit class-based packets with different per hop behaviors (PHBs). Simulation results demonstrate effectiveness of the proposed AQC scheme.
In this paper, the authors propose methods for determining the differentiated price for elastic traffic in IP (Internet Protocol) network. First, we investigate the behavior in the consumption of bandwidth of elastic traffic in IP network. Next, we propose a method to relate the bandwidth usage with the pricing for the elastic traffic, which is based partially or fully on the usage rate of the network bandwidth. After that, we propose a charging function for elastic traffic, which is based on the de facto usage of the bandwidth. Finally, we will illustrate the implication of the work via simple numerical experiments.

The purpose of this research is to develop and evaluate a traffic engineering architecture that uses local state information. This architecture is applied to an Internet protocol radio access network (RAN) that uses multi-protocol label switching (MPLS) and differentiated services to support mobile hosts. We assume mobility support is provided by a protocol such as the hierarchical mobile Internet protocol. The traffic engineering architecture is router based-meaning that routers on the edges of the network make the decisions onto which paths to place admitted traffic. We propose an algorithm that supports the architecture and uses local network state in order to function. The goal of the architecture is to provide an inexpensive and fast method to reduce network congestion while increasing the quality of service (QoS) level when compared to traditional routing and traffic engineering techniques. We use a number of different mobility scenarios and a mix of different types of traffic to evaluate our architecture and algorithm. We use the network simulator ns-2 as the core of our simulation environment. Around this core we built a system of pre-simulation, during simulation, and post-processing software that enabled us to simulate our traffic engineering architecture with only very minimal changes to the core ns-2 software. Our simulation environment supports a number of different mobility scenarios and a mix of different types of traffic to evaluate our architecture and algorithm.
QoS support for the Internet traffic becomes an important future requirement of various network devices such as routers and switches. Differentiated Services(Diffserv) is considered as an efficient feasible solution for providing different service characteristics to different classes of network users. IETF Diffserv working group has already defined a general architecture of Diffserv and is extending its detail features. Network vendors also start implementing Diffserv enabled network devices. However, the management of Diffserv is not fully standardized yet. This paper, we present methods of traffic flow control in Diffserv Networks. we have designed a Diffserv Traffic Control system.
