With society becoming more advanced and complex, the required management engineering makes essential the development of human resources that can propose solutions for problems of new phenomena from a different perspective. As an example of such phenomena, we note a consumer electronics 'Eco-point' system campaign in this study. To mitigate global warming, revitalize the economy, and encourage the adoption of terrestrial digital compatible TVs, the consumer electronics Eco-point system campaign was implemented in May 2009 in Japan. In this study, we note a model which is constant term with exponential curve with notion of the growth phenomenon (Nakagiri and Kurita, Journal of the Operations Research Society of Japan, 2002). In our study, we call this model the 'differential equation model of the growth phenomenon.' This model represents a phenomenon with a hierarchical structure for capturing the properties of n species. In this study, we propose a new model which can represent not only the impact of largescale campaigns but also seasonal factors. Accordingly, we understand the phenomenon of fluctuation of sales of some products caused by large-scale campaigns and predict the fluctuation of sales. The final goal of this study is to develop human resources that can propose provision and solution for pre-consumption and reactionary decline in demand by understanding the impact of large-scale campaigns. As the first step of this goal, our objective is to propose a new regression method with different conventional perspective that can describe the fluctuation of sales caused by large-scale campaigns and show the possibility of new management engineering education.
This study investigated the impact of the fire disturbance and the pattern of recovery of soil dwelling oribatid mite communities with respect to the resilience from the fire disturbance. Oribatid mites are important decomposer animals of plant debris in soil with the feeding habits of saprophagy and mycophagy. Massive wild fire reduced soil oribatid mite abundance and diversity. The impact varied relative to the intensity of the disturbance. The proportion of the species common to the non-disturbed natural site increased as the time after the disturbance elapsed, which implying some degree of naturalness occurring in reorganization phase of the oribatid mite community. From the sites with different degree of fire impact, we found higher diversity in intermediately disturbed sites than in severely disturbed or non-disturbed site, supporting the intermediate disturbance hypothesis. Also this study showed that with differential degree of disturbance plots, resilience pattern after the disturbance can be explored even with shorter period research relative to the ecological succession of community.
This paper describes the formulation and application of a dynamic model for a conventional rail track subjected to arbitary loading functions that simulate wheel/rail impact forces. The rail track is idealized as a periodic elastically coupled beam system resting on a Winkler foundation. Modal parameters of the track structure are first obtained from the natural vibration characteristics of the beam system, which is discretized into a periodic assembly of a specially-constructed track element and a single beam element characterized by their exact dynamic stiffness matrices. An equivalent frequency-dependent spring coefficient representing the resilient, flexural and inertial characteristics of the rail support components is introduced to reduce the degrees of freedom of the track element. The forced vibration equations of motion of the track subjected to a series of loading functions are then formulated by using beam bending theories and are reduced to second order ordinary differential equations through the use of mode summation with non-proportional modal damping. Numerical examples for the dynamic responses of a typical track are presented, and the solutions resulting from different rail/tie beam theories are compared.

In this paper, a generalized guidance law with an arbitrary pair of guidance coefficients for impact angle control is proposed. Under the assumptions of a stationary target and a lag-free missile with constant speed, necessary conditions for the guidance coefficients to satisfy the required terminal constraints are obtained by deriving an explicit closed-form solution. Moreover, optimality of the generalized impact-angle control guidance law is discussed. By solving an inverse optimal control problem for the guidance law, it is found that the generalized guidance law can minimize a certain quadratic performance index. Finally, analytic solutions of the generalized guidance law for a first-order lag system are investigated. By solving a third-order linear time-varying ordinary differential equation, the blowing-up phenomenon of the guidance loop as the missile approaches the target is mathematically proved. Moreover, it is found that terminal misses due to the system lag are expressed in terms of the guidance coefficients, homing geometry, and the ratio of time-to-go to system time constant.
The effects of cooling rate on the microstructures, precipitation of Cu-cluster, .epsilon.-Cu and impact toughness of high strength low alloy(HSLA) steel were studied using hardness tester, impact tester, DSC(differential scanning calorimetry), AES(auger electron spectroscopy) and TEM(transmission electron microscopy). Not only the Cu-precipitates but also the segregation of Cu, As, Sb, P, S, N, Sn along grain boundary were not observed at the specimens heat treated from 800.deg. C to 300.deg. C with the cooling time of 12-125 sec. The Cu-cluster, .epsilon.-Cu are formed by introducing ageing after cooling and the effect of precipitates on hardening increase after cooling was the same in all cooling rate. The peak hardness was obtained at an ageing of 500.deg. C in all cooling conditions. The impact energy become higher as the cooling time increases. This fact can be explained to be due to the tempering effect applied on the cooling stage since the present alloy has a relatively high Ms temperature and the local high concentration of the retained austenite.

Free axisymmetric vibrations of layered cylindrical shells of variable thickness are studied using spline function approximation techniques. Three different types of thickness variations are considered namely linear, exponential and sinusoidal. The equations of axisymmetric motion of layered cylindrical shells, on the longitudinal and transverse displacement components are obtained using Love's first approximation theory. A system of coupled differential equations on displacement functions are obtained by assuming the displacements in a separable form. Then the displacements are approximated using Bickley-spline approximation. The vibrations of two-layered cylindrical shells, made up of several types of layered materials and different boundary conditions are considered. Parametric studies have been made on the variation of frequency parameter with respect to the relative layer thickness, length ratio and type of thickness variation parameter.
The analysis of nonlinear vibrations, buckling, post-buckling, flutter boundary determination and post-flutter behavior of a homogeneous curved plate assuming cylindrical bending is conducted in this article. Other assumptions include simply-supported boundary conditions, supersonic aerodynamic flow at the top of the plate, constant pressure conditions below the plate, non-viscous flow model (using first- and third-order piston theory), nonlinear structural model with large deformations, and application of mechanical and thermal loads on the curved plate. The analysis is performed with constant environmental indicators (flow density, heat, Reynolds number and Mach number). The material properties (i.e., coefficient of thermal expansion and modulus of elasticity) are temperature-dependent. The equations are derived using the principle of virtual displacement. Furthermore, based on the definitions of virtual work, the potential and kinetic energy of the final relations in the integral form, and the governing nonlinear differential equations are obtained after fractional integration. This problem is solved using two approaches. The frequency analysis and flutter are studied in the first approach by transferring the handle of ordinary differential equations to the state space, calculating the system Jacobin matrix and analyzing the eigenvalue to determine the instability conditions. The second approach discusses the nonlinear frequency analysis and nonlinear flutter using the semi-analytical solution of governing differential equations based on the weighted residual method. The partial differential equations are converted to ordinary differential equations, after which they are solved based on the Runge-Kutta fourth- and fifth-order methods. The comparison between the results of frequency and flutter analysis of curved plate is linearly and nonlinearly performed for the first time. The results show that the plate curvature has a profound impact on the instability boundary of the plate under supersonic aerodynamic loading. The flutter boundary decreases with growing thermal load and increases with growing curvature.

Federated Learning (FL) has emerged as a potent methodology for decentralized model training across multiple collaborators, eliminating the need for data sharing. Although FL is lauded for its capacity to preserve data privacy, it is not impervious to various types of privacy attacks. Differential Privacy (DP), recognized as the golden standard in privacy-preservation techniques, is widely employed to counteract these vulnerabilities. This paper makes a specific contribution by applying an existing, task-specific adaptive DP mechanism to the FL environment. Our comprehensive analysis evaluates the impact of this mechanism on the performance of a shared global model, with particular attention to varying data distribution and partitioning schemes. This study deepens the understanding of the complex interplay between privacy and utility in FL, providing a validated methodology for securing data without compromising performance.
Dynamic behaviour of beam carrying masses has attracted attention of many researchers and engineers. Many studies on the analytical solution of beam with concentric tip mass have been published. However, there are limited works on vibration analysis of beam with an eccentric three dimensional object. In this case, bending and torsional deformations of beam are coupled due to the boundary conditions. Analytical solution of equations of motion of the system is complicated and lengthy. Therefore, in this study, Differential Transform Method (DTM) is applied to solve the relevant equations. First, the Timoshenko beam with 3D tip attachment whose centre of gravity is not coincident with beam end point is considered. The beam is assumed to undergo bending in two orthogonal planes and torsional deformation about beam axis. Using Hamilton's principle the equations of motion of the system along with the possible boundary conditions are derived. Later DTM is applied to obtain natural frequencies and mode shapes of the system. According to the relevant literature DTM has not been applied to such a system so far. Moreover, the problem is modelled by Ansys, the well-known finite element method, and impact test is applied to extract experimental modal data. Comparing DTM results with finite element and experimental results it is concluded that the proposed approach produces accurate results.

The objective of this paper is to analyze power system dynamics influenced by UPFC(Unified Power flow Controller) operation and to develop a refined DCRM(Differential Current Relaying Method) to protect the transmission line with UPFC effectively. The implementation of control strategies for UPFC introduces new power system dynamic problems that must be considered while applying the conventional DCRM. In this paper, impact of UPFC operation on the DCRM has been reviewed and a refined DCRM has been proposed to detect faults properly in spite of UPFC operation. The porposed method is verified by simulation on the line-faulted system with UPFC.
