This article is a continuing report about a development of disposable diapers for the elderly in need. In previous report, the first prototypes of disposable diapers in two different categories have been developed. One was a panty type and the other was a pad type. These prototypes were results of property test and wear test of existing disposable diapers in each categories. Yet, in order to develop useable products, the second property and wear tests using the first prototype diapers were carried out. Considering the resets of the second tests, enhancements to the first prototypes were made to refine the second prototypes. The panty type diaper were altered to be longer to prevent evacuation from leaking and fit better. The pad type diapers were altered to reduce thickness for comfort and wearing appearance when get dressed. Ultimately a lot more disposable diapers will be required in future. Resulting suggestions are as follows. Anthropometric data around hip area of elderly in both sexes have to be collected to give meaningful information to diaper manufacturers, so that they can manufacture for different sizes and different sexes. Also we suggests that diapers for specific disease such as diabetics have to be designed accordingly.
Transnational exchange has been an inseparable part of both the ancient and modern Silk Road. This paper shows how Rumi (1207-1273), a famous Persian Sufi poet, travels along the Silk Road in the $21^{st}$ century. With the birth of a Rumi phenomenon in the West, Silk Road artists have rediscovered and adapted him for different purposes. Elif Shafak, the Turkish-British novelist and women's rights activist, espouses feminist beliefs in her bestseller, The Forty Rules of Love (2010). Benefiting from the views of feminist theorists like Woolf, de Beauvoir and Friedan, this paper reveals how Shafak appropriates Rumi for her feminist purposes. Forty Rules of Love's protagonist, Ella Rubinstein is analyzed, compared and contrasted with her former literary counterparts Pinhan and Zeliha, heroines of Shafak's previous novels. By adapting Rumi's definition of equality, Shafak shows how egalitarianism must pervade the relationship between women and men. The adaptation of Rumi's ideas regarding the equality of sexes finds a different dimension when Shafak reveals that all humanity possesses femininity and masculinity at the same time. By means of ideas prevalent in the ancient Silk Road, the five classical elements theory, and the yin and yang principle, Shafak portrays unity within contradictions. It is concluded that although individuals might belong to different typologies of the five symbolic elements of nature, they can at the same time complement one another's inharmonious personalities peacefully. The process of integration of female and male sexes can be expedited by opening up one's heart to a universal love.

In order to find out the influences upon not only the thermal resistance of human body but also the clothing action and the clothing weight which are caused by the differences in the thermal living conditions by using air conditioner and so on to adapt themselves to the changes of their residential environment according to the changes of seasons we investigated the clothing practices upon the male and female students in Seoul and Korean male and female students in Yanbian who are estimated to have different thermal living conditions in spite that they are same folk as well as living in the same age. 1. The total clothing weight of body surface erea was increased in order of summer autumn spring and winter seasons and by seasons the changes of the clothing weight were found in both areas, In Seoul the changes of upper outwear clothing weight were found on both sexes but in Yanbian the changes of underwear weight were found on both sexes. And the underwear weight of both sexes in Seoul was lighter than that of both sexes in Yanbian. 2. Those in Seoul tended to fell colder in winter and hotter in summer than those in Yanbian on account that the formers are more sensitive of thermal conditions than the latters. 3. Comparing clo-value claculated by the fomula of with the Winshlow's clo-value those in Yanbian had higher thermal resistance than those in Seoul. Consequently those in Seoul adapted thermselves to the seasons by controling the upper outwear weight but those in Yanbian did it with underwear weight, The male and female students in Seoul tended to feel colder in winter and hotter in summer than hose in Yanbian because the thermal sense of the former is more sensitive than that of the latter.

This study was conducted to investigate the effects of threonine:lysine ratios on growth performance, apparent nutrient digestibility and blood urea nitrogen (BUN) concentration, and to estimate the optimal threonine:lysine ratios for growing barrows and gilts. A total of 150 pigs (Landrace${\times}$Yorkshire${\times}$Duroc, $16.75{\pm}0.42kg$ average body weight, 75 barrows and 75 gilts) was randomly allotted into six treatments in a $2{\times}3$ factorial design. Six diets were formulated to contain 1.12% lysine for barrows and 1.33% lysine for gilts with three threonine:lysine ratios (50, 60 and 70%) for both barrows and gilts. Throughout the whole experimental period (16 to 56 kg body weight), there was no interaction between sex and dietary threonine:lysine ratio in average daily gain (ADG), average daily feed intake (ADFI) and feed conversion rate (FCR). Between sexes, there was a clear sex-effect showing better growth performance of barrows. Barrows consumed more feed (p<0.01) and grew faster (p<0.01) than gilts. For barrows, there was a trend to improved ADG and FCR with increasing threonine:lysine ratio. For gilts, there was a trend to improved ADG and FCR up to threonine:lysine ratio of 60%, but not significant. There was no interaction between sex and threonine:lysine ratio in nutrient digestibilities of growing pigs except for crude ash (CA). Between sexes, there were differences in nutrient digestibilities, except for calcium for which gilts showed higher a digestibility (p<0.01). Among dietary threonine:lysine ratios, there were no differences in nutrient digestibilities. Mean values of essential amino acids (EAA), non-essential amino acids (NEAA) and total amino acids (TAA) digestibilities were not affected by sex and dietary threonine:lysine ratio. There was no evidence of an interaction between sexes and dietary threonine:lysine ratio. Between sexes, total BUN concentration was lower in gilts than barrows (p<0.05). It was concluded that a 70 and 60% dietary threonine:lysine ratio for barrows (1.12% lysine) and gilts (1.33% lysine) tended to result in better growth performances and nutrient utilization and lower BUN concentration than other threonine:lysine ratios.
We used rats as the experimental animal for the elucidation of metabolic patterns and pharmacokinetic profiles of SMZ in the rat, by use of the urine and plasma from predetermined intervals, respectively. Information herefrom would give some insight into species differences and sex differences in the metabolism and pharamcokinetics of drugs, at least SMZ in particular. Results would be summarized as follows: 1. There were two hydorxy metabolites(5-hydroxysulfamethazine and 6-hydroxyethylsulfamethazine) and an acetyl derivative($N_4$-acetyl sulfamethazine) in the 24h-collected urine, on confirmation with each standard materials. There were also two unknown metabolites therein. 2. In the viewpoint of quantitative aspect, $N_4$-acetylsulfamethazine was the largest, hence it is assumed that the acetyl pathway is the major one in the metabolism of SMZ in the rat. 3. As regards sex difference in the rat, the male had more metabolic capacity than the female in metabolism of SMZ. 4. The concenteration-time curves of sulfamethazine(20mg/kg, po) in the plasma compartment were fitted to a one-compartment open model by use of a computer program(NONLIN). 5. There were significant differences(P<0.05) in the pharmacokinetics of sulfamethazine between two sexes in the rat, with higher disposition rate in the male. 6. The emergence of $N_4AcSMZ$ metabolized from SMZ was fast in the plasma of the rat. Half-life of $N_4AcSMZ$ was also. significantly different(P<0.05) between two sexes, suggesting differences in the eliminatory capacity of $N_4AcSMZ$.
This study was undertaken to compare the obesity related dietary factors among rural middle school students living in Korea. Anthropometric data showed that mean height and weigh were 161.7$\pm$13.0 and 49.8$\pm$10.3kg in 226 male students and 158.3$\pm$6.1 and 48.2$\pm$7.5kg in 212 female students. Mean BMIs for boys and girls were 19.10$\pm$2.47 and 19.26$\pm$2.35, respectively. 71.68% of male students and 72% of female students were underweight by the BMI index. The BMI of older students was higher than young ones in both sexes. Most nutrient intakes of the subjects were below the RDA. In particular Ca and Fe intakes were extremely low in both sexes. 66.88% of the students skipped breakfast and it was found that the reasons for missing a meal for both sexes were significantly different. Compared to males, more female respondents felt guilty and depressed related to eating. Furthermore, females were more significantly concerned with body image, diet, and body weight(p〈0.001), and they were not satisfied with their weight. The sources of information on obesity and diet were from radio and TV in males while females got information from magazines and friends. In male students their ideal body weight was higher was higher than actual body weight. In contrasting, female students desired a thin body shape. A different approach for nutrition education for adolescents should be developed and implemented based on sex.
Aggression in horses may cause serious accidents during riding and non-riding activities. Hence, predicting the temperament of horses is essential for selecting suitable horses and ensuring safety during the activity. In certain animals, such as hamsters, plasma melatonin concentrations have been correlated with aggressive behavior. However, whether this relationship applies to horses remains unclear. To address this research gap, this study aimed to evaluate differences in the plasma melatonin concentrations among horses of different breeds, ages, and sexes and examine the correlation between plasma melatonin concentrations and the temperament of the horses, including docility, affinity, dominance, and trainability. Blood samples from 32 horses were collected from the Horse Industry Complex Center of Jeonju Kijeon College. The docility, affinity, dominance, and trainability of the horses were assessed by three professional trainers who were well-acquainted with the horses. Plasma melatonin concentrations were measured using an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. The consequent values were compared between the horses of different breeds, ages, and sexes using a three-way analysis of variance and least significant difference post hoc test. Linear regression analysis was employed to identify the relationship between plasma melatonin concentrations and docility, affinity, dominance, and trainability. The results showed that the plasma melatonin concentrations significantly differed with breeds in Thoroughbred and cold-blooded horses. However, there were no differences in the plasma melatonin concentrations between the horse ages and sexes. Furthermore, plasma melatonin concentrations did not exhibit a significant correlation with the ranking of docility, affinity, dominance, and trainability.
Callosobruchus chinensis (Coleoptera: Bruchidae) is the main pest of mungbean (Vigna radiata) especially during seed storage. To provide background information for chemical ecology studies, we examined the externalmorphology of the antennal, maxillary palp and labial palp sensilla of this insect with scanning electron microscopy. The antennae of adult C. chinensis exhibited sexual dimorphism. The female have serrated antenna and the male have pectinate morphology. Eight sensillum types have been observed on the antennae of both sexes: $B\ddot{o}hm$ bristles, sensilla chaetica, sensilla trichodea, sensilla basiconica, sensilla styloconicum, sensilla coeloconica, sensillum campaniformia, sensilla cavity. There are no differences on the morphology of maxillary palp and labial palp between female and male. Four different types of sensilla are present on the labial and maxillary palps of both sexes of C. chinensis: sensilla chaetica, sensilla twig basiconica, sensilla basiconica, sensilla digitiformia.
This study is to investigate, from the perspective of implicit theory, what elements influence children's motivation to learn and how their configurations are different according to different sexes. One analysis was based on answers to a motivation questionnaire by fourth to sixth graders from four different cities in South Korea. The subjects children were most highly motivated to learn were math and science for boys, and math and English for girls, respectively. Factors influencing the motivation were near 30 in number, including later happier life, joy of learning, parental rewards, pleasure of being informed, and meeting parental expectations, among others. Another analysis was an exploratory and confirmative factor analysis on motivation to learn among 856 fourth to sixth graders randomly sampled from 7 different cities all over South Korea. Factors revealed to contribute to the motivated learning here were five factors of utility, interest, recognition, knowledge acquisition(being informed), and expectancy sufficiency. There were some differences in the structure of factors between sexes; importance was given to five factors of utility, interest, recognition, knowledge acquisition, and expectancy sufficiency in descending order for boys, and six factors of interest, utility, rewards, recognition, expectancy sufficiency, and competition for girls.
Objectives: This study was conducted to explore recent trends in the prevalence of pediatric elevated blood pressure and hypertension (HTN) in Korea and the United States, applying the new HTN reference values for adolescents. Methods: This study analyzed 17 339 (8755 Korean and 8584 American) adolescents aged 10 to 17 who participated in the Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey and the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, respectively, between 2005 and 2016. HTN was defined using percentile-based reference values for non-overweight adolescents from 7 nations, and obesity was defined by body mass index (BMI) based on country-specific growth charts. All analyses were stratified by sex and year-over-year changes were evaluated by calculating the p for trend. Results: Systolic blood pressure showed a statistically meaningful upward trend in Korean boys and girls, while diastolic blood pressure did not show any significant changes. Both systolic and diastolic blood pressure levels declined among United States boys and girls. The prevalence of elevated blood pressure and HTN remained similar in Korean adolescents, but declined in both sexes among United States adolescents. BMI increased in both sexes among Korean adolescents, although the overweight and obesity rates stayed the same. No significant trends were found in any obesity indices among United States adolescents. The prevalence of elevated blood pressure and HTN by obesity level was higher among Korean adolescents than among their United States peers in both sexes, and the gap became higher at more severe levels of obesity. Conclusions: Despite the strong correlation between obesity and HTN, recent trends in the prevalence of HTN and obesity among Korean and United States adolescents were strikingly different. Follow-up studies are necessary to determine why the prevalence of HTN was more than twice as high among Korean adolescents than among their United States counterparts.
