  • This paper describes recent development activities of the GENESIS code, which is a transport code for heterogeneous three-dimensional geometry, focusing on applications to reactor core analysis. For the treatment of anisotropic scattering, the concept of the simplified Pn method is introduced in order to reduce storage of flux moments. The accuracy of the present method is verified through a benchmark problem. Next, the iteration stability of the GENESIS code for the highly voided condition, which would appear in a severe accident (e.g., design extension) conditions, is discussed. The efficiencies of the coarse mesh finite difference and generalized coarse mesh rebalance acceleration methods are verified with various stabilization techniques. Use of the effective diffusion coefficient and the artificial grid diffusion coefficients are found to be effective to stabilize the acceleration calculation in highly voided conditions.

  • In this article, we consider the uniqueness problem of the shift polynomials $f^n(z)(f^m(z)-1){\prod\limits_{j=1}^{s}}f(z+c_j)^{{\mu}_j}$ and $f^n(z)(f(z)-1)^m{\prod\limits_{j=1}^{s}}f(z+c_j)^{{\mu}_j}$, where f(z) is a transcendental entire function of finite order, cj (j = 1, 2, …, s) are distinct finite complex numbers and n(≥ 1), m(≥ 1), s and µj (j = 1, 2, …, s) are integers. With the concept of weakly weighted sharing and relaxed weighted sharing we obtain some results which extend and generalize some results due to P. Sahoo [Commun. Math. Stat. 3 (2015), 227-238].

  • This paper aims to improve the alternative formulation of the fifth- and sixth-order accurate weighted essentially non-oscillatory (AWENO) finite difference schemes. The first is to derive the AWENO scheme with sixth-order accuracy in the smooth region of the solution. Second, a new weighted polynomial functions combining the perturbed forms with conserved variable to the AWENO is constructed; the new form of tunable functions are invented to maintain non-oscillatory property. Detailed numerical experiments are presented to illustrate the behavior of the new perturbational AWENO schemes. The performance of the present scheme is evaluated in terms of accuracy and resolution of discontinuities using a variety of one and two-dimensional test cases. We show that the resulted perturbational AWENO schemes can achieve fifth- and sixth-order accuracy in smooth regions while reducing numerical dissipation significantly near singularities.

  • The studies of congruence in organizational research have explored the concepts such as person-job fit person-organization fit, or person-environment fit. The relevant studies dealt with the fit level as an important influencing factor on the performance. In particular, researchers have agreed that employees can be motivated by the high level fit of person-organization. However, few research developing an alternative methodological approach has been done. For the purpose mentioned above the statistics like D, |D| or $D^2$ and the Q values such as Q(the correlation between two sets of interval measures) or $Q_r$(the correlation between two rankings) have been conventionally adopted in spite of numerous methodological problems. In general, these traditional indices such as difference scores, or Q values, are nondirectional and add an extra weight to differences of lager magnitude. Therefore, Edwards (1993) introduced the polynomial regression and the response surface analysis to overcome flaws with conventional approaches. However, the method-ological approaches did not reflect the profile characteristics of person-organizational value fit and wouldn't be a proper solution for the fit level of person-organization value maximizing performance. Hence, this paper investigates alternative methodological approaches, the multivariate polynomial regression and the multiple response surface analysis, to avoid the problems issued from conventional ways.

  • Satellite cameras are calibrated before launch in detail and in general, but it cannot be guaranteed that the geometry is not changing during launch and caused by thermal influence of the sun in the orbit. Modem satellite imaging systems are based on CCD-line sensors. Because of the required high sampling rate the length of used CCD-lines is limited. For reaching a sufficient swath width, some CCD-lines are combined to a longer virtual CCD-line. The images generated by the individual CCD-lines do overlap slightly and so they can be shifted in x- and y-direction in relation to a chosen reference image just based on tie points. For the alignment and difference in scale, control points are required. The resulting virtual image has only negligible errors in areas with very large difference in height caused by the difference in the location of the projection centers. Color images can be related to the joint panchromatic scenes just based on tie points. Pan-sharpened images may show only small color shifts in very mountainous areas and for moving objects. The direct sensor orientation has to be calibrated based on control points. Discrepancies in horizontal shift can only be separated from attitude discrepancies with a good three-dimensional control point distribution. For such a calibration a program based on geometric reconstruction of the sensor orientation is required. The approximations by 3D-affine transformation or direct linear transformation (DL n cannot be used. These methods do have also disadvantages for standard sensor orientation. The image orientation by geometric reconstruction can be improved by self calibration with additional parameters for the analysis and compensation of remaining systematic effects for example caused by a not linear CCD-line. The determined sensor geometry can be used for the generation? of rational polynomial coefficients, describing the sensor geometry by relations of polynomials of the ground coordinates X, Y and Z.

  • To a first approximation, phase behavior of a system becomes increasingly skew in proportion to the boiling point difference of system-forming constituents. Therefore, phase behavior data of a system of a large boiling point difference are to be experimentally measured for thorough understanding of the thermodynamic characteristics of such system. In this work, isobaric vapor-liquid equilibrium of a mixture consisting of toluene and cresol, which shows a large boiling point difference of nearly $100^{\circ}C$ and is consequently expected to be considerably nonideal, was measured by using a recirculating equilibrium cell at various subatmospheric pressures ranging from 10 kPa to 60 kPa. The measured VLE data were correlated with NRTL and UNIQUAC models in a satisfactory manner and the accompanying thermodynamic consistency test represented soundness of the measurements. In addition, the excess molar volume of the mixture was also measured with a vibrating densitometer and correlated with a Redlich-Kister polynomial. A negative excess volume prevailed over the whole concentration range, which indicates a favorable attraction between toluene and cresol isomers and results in an extensive miscibility.

  • This study presents an extended finite difference method based on moving least squares(MLS) method for solving potential problems with interfacial boundary. The approximation constructed from the MLS Taylor polynomial is modified by inserting of wedge functions for the interface modeling. Governing equations are node-wisely discretized without involving element or grid; immersion of interfacial condition into the approximation circumvents numerical difficulties owing to geometrical modeling of interface. Interface modeling introduces no additional unknowns in the system of equations but makes the system overdetermined. So, the numbers of unknowns and equations are equalized by the symmetrization of the stiffness matrix. Increase in computational effort is the trade-off for ease of interface modeling. Numerical results clearly show that the developed numerical scheme sharply describes the wedge behavior as well as jumps and efficiently and accurately solves potential problems with interface.

  • In the sum and difference pattern synthesis problem of the equi-spaced monopulse tracking linear array antennas, an efficient numerical approach to deriving the relative excitation current weights of antenna elements is presented for the desired patterns. This method is based on the optimum perturbation of null points which are inherent to the Schelkunoffs polynomial representing the pattern array factor. Accordingly, opposite to the conventional method in which the excitation weights are directly optimized, this method is advantageous in that the patterns with the desired individual sidelobe levels(SLLs) and the corresponding excitation weights are easily synthesized by the control of null points. Furthermore, it is showed that two types of difference patterns can be synthesized as imposing the different initial values of null points in the optimization process. The proposed method is numerically validated by synthesizing the patterns with the arbitrary SLLs and substituting the extracted results into the array factor equation.

  • In this study, we showed a comparison and analysis making use of DWI(diffusion weighted image) using early diagnosis of cerebral Infarction and with the classified T2 weighted image, FLAIR images signal intensity for brain infarction period. period of cerebral infarction after the condition of a disease by ischemic stroke. To compare 3 types of image, we performed polynomial warping and affined transform for image matching. Using proposed algorithm, calculated signal intensity difference between T2WI, DWI, FLAIR and DWI. The quantification values between hand made and calculated data are almost the same. We quantified the each period and performed pseudo color mapping by comparing signal intensity each other according to previously obtained hand made data, and compared the result of this paper according to obtained quantified data to that of doctors decision. The examined mean and standard deviation for each brain infarction stage are as follows ; the means and standard deviations of signal intensity difference between DWI and T2WI for each period are $197.7{\pm}6.9$ in hyperacute, $110.2{\pm}5.4$ in acute, and $67.8{\pm}7.2$ in subacute. And the means and standard deviations of signal intensity difference between DWI and FLAIR for each period are $199.8{\pm}7.5$ in hyperacute, $115.3{\pm}8.0$ in acute, and $70.9{\pm}5.8$ in subacute. We can quantificate and decide cerebral infarction period objectively. According to this study, DWI is very exact for early diagnosis. We classified the period of infarction occurrence to analyze the region of disease and normal region in DW, T2WI, FLAIR images.

  • This study analyzes the effects between stock returns and interest rate spread, difference between long-term and short-term interest rate through the polynomial linear regression analysis. The existing research concentrated on the business forecast through the interest rate spread focusing on the US market. The previous studies verified the interest rate spread based on the leading indicators of business forecast by moderating the period of long-term/short-term interest rates and analyzing the degree of leading. After the 7th reform of composite indices of business indicators in Korea of 2006, the interest rate spread was included in the items of composing the business leading indicators, which is utilized till today. Nevertheless, there are a few research on stock returns of each industry and interest rate spread in domestic stock market. Therefore, this study analyzed the stock returns of each industry and interest rate spread targeting Korean stock market. This study selected the long-term/short-term interest rates with high causality through the regression analysis, and then understood the correlations with each leading period and industry. To overcome the limitation of the simple linear regression analysis, polynomial linear regression analysis is used, which raised explanatory power. As a result, the high causality was verified when using differences between returns of corporate bond(AA-) without guarantee for three years by leading six months and call rate returns as interest rate spread. In addition, analyzing the stock returns of each industry, the relation between the relevant interest rate spread and returns of the automobile industry was the closest. This study is significant in the aspect of verifying the causality of interest rate spread, business forecast, and stock returns in Korea. Even though it could be limited to forecast the stock price by using only the interest rate spread, it would be working as a strong factor when it is properly utilized with other various factors.
