Carpal tunnel syndrome is a common peripheral nerve entrapment syndrome that is characterized by pain, numbness, sensory disturbance along the distribution of the median nerve in hand. Diagnosis mainly depends upon careful examination and symptomatology. Treatments have included wrist immobilization, anti-inflammatory drug, local injection of steroid, nerve block and surgical decompression. This is a clinical report about 2 cases of carpal tunnel syndrome patients who undergo oriental medical treatment. Both of two cases, Symptoms were disappeared and physical examinations were improved. The results of this study demonstrate that oriental medicine treatment that including acupuncture and herbal medicine therapy can have noticeable effects in treating the carpal tunnel syndrome.
The female's part-cold hypersensitivity syndrome is a disease which the oriental people better than the western people suffer from and if it would be sick for a long time, it could bring into the other diseases. In the Oriental Medicine, the coldness is regarded as one of the most important causes which induce female's diseases. Nowadays the number of the female patients are ascending that serously appeal the coldness-sense and pain-sense at the particular part of the body, for example, hand, foot, abdomen, waist, external genital portion and so on. Background : The varieties of manifestations referred to headache and vertigo have been long complicated physicians in the efficient diagnosis and treatment of these diseases. Objectives : Establish a distinctive and efficient acupuncture method for the treatment of headache and dizziness based in literature research. Method : We reviewed four Korean medical literature, "治腫指南Guide to Swollen Sore Treatment", "東醫寶鑑Treasured Mirror of Eastern Medicine", "鍼灸經驗方Experiential Prescriptions of Acupuncture and Moxibustion", and "舍岩鍼法Essential Rhymes on Acupuncture and Moxibustion by Master Sa-am", and analyzed the therapeutic characteristics in the treatment of headache and vertigo. Result : 1. "治腫指南Guide to Swollen Sore Treatment" inserted needle in GV20百會 and waited until the skin erupts and heat burns, then applied in those regions affected. 2. "東醫寶鑑Treasured Mirror of Eastern Medicine" mostly applied moxibustion on headache, however, needling acupoints such as GV20百會, GV24神庭, GV23上星, GV22顖會 were also considered important. 3. "鍼灸經驗方Experiential Prescriptions of Acupuncture and Moxibustion" used moxa cones on headache in order to disperse heat and direct Gi downward. 4. "校勘 舍岩道人鍼法Essential Rhymes on Acupuncture and Moxibustion by Master Sa-am" defined the cause of dizziness, wood excavates earth and earth kills water. Conclusions : After previous study on eye, oral, glottal, labial, dental diseases and stroke, we could also find various efficient methods according to headache and vertigo, through literature research of Korean medical classics. This study will concurrently result in establishing distinctive therapeutic method characteristic of Korea.
Objectives : Among the patients at Seoul Veterans Hospital, there is a great demand for oriental medical treatments, and the number of patients of oriental medical part is on the increase. The purpose of this study is to show patients inclination statistically. Methods : The study was carried out on the 1045 patients came to Seoul veterans hospital from April 2003 to May 2004. 'Mu-acupuncture treatment(繆刺法)' and 'Geo-acupuncture treatment(巨刺法)' are the ways of taking acupuncture points on the sound side of a human body and not on the unsound side of a human body to treat disease, 'Mu-acupuncture treatment(繆刺法)' is applicable to 'Transverse meridian disease(絡脈病)', 'Geo-acupuncture treatment(巨刺法)' is applicable to 'Longitudinal meridian disease(經脈病)'. To diagnose a disease as transverse meridian disease or longitudinal meridian disease depends on 'Feeling pulse at the nine spots of three parts on a body for diagnosis (三部九候診)'. 'Mu-acupuncture treatment(繆刺法)' takes a 'Rak-acupuncture point(絡穴)' under a wrist and a ankle joint. The method of taking it, two ways, are 'Yu(痏)' and 'The treatment getting some blood(出血療法)'. 'Yu(?)' which is similar to 'Quick-getting acupuncture into and out (單刺法)' means the number of times doing acupuncture and is different from 'The treatment getting some blood (出血療法)' which is typically considered as 'Yu(?)'. Meanwhile, judging from the changes of the methods of feeling pulse for diagnosis and the symptoms of a certain disease, though it is a precondition that 'Biased-Gi(邪氣)' stays at 'The Large transverse meridian(大絡)' in 'The theory of Mu-acupuncture treatment(繆刺論)', it is hard to consider the symptoms of 'Transverse meridian disease(絡脈病)' described in 'The theory of Mu-acupuncture treatment(繆刺論)' as the pure symptoms of 'Transverse meridian disease(絡脈病)'.
Object : Waist circumference(WC), waist-hip ratio(WHR), waist-stature ratio(WSR), and body mass index(BMI) are commonly used for evaluating obesity. This Research were done to determine what is more sensitive obesity indexes(WC, WHR, WSR, BMI) Correlated with body composition such as body fat mass, body fat(%), visceral fat area, and fat free mass. And what is more sensitively correlated obesity indexes with % changes of body composition during weight reduction treatment. Methods : This clinical retrospective research were carried out 127 cases of female obese outpatients with weight reduction treatment during 1 month. Bioelectrical impedence analysis(for body composition) and body size(for anthropometric obesity indexes) were estimated in pre-treatment and post-treatment to evaluate the obesity indexes. Pearson correlation coefficients were used to select useful obesity index. Result & Conclusion : BMI is useful index for diagnosis and evaluation of obesity. WSR is sensitively correlated with visceral fat area and body fat(%). So, WSR is useful index for evaluating abdominal obesity and risk factors of metabolic syndrome. WC is correlated with both body fat mass and fat free mass. WHR is not optimal for diagnosis and evaluation of obesity.
The leukemia is caused by with abnormal changes of the hemotopoietic cell and in the various neoplasm group which occurs from lymph organization and the bone marrow occurs disrupts immigrates toward the blood of circumference and a hemotopoiesis and the arm discouragement royal tomb and is a disease which infiltrates with the organization. Western medical diagnosis and classification and presents eastern medicinal demonstration which is confronted in him about the leukemia, eastern medicinal diagnosis and treatment the clinical dissertation against precisely, saw and dissertation precisely tried about leukemia therapeutic effect of the herbal extract, last from conclusion like this dissertation precisely in the base which tries groped the direction of eastern medicinal treatment method research about the leukemia. Eastern medicine approach led about diagnosis and treatment of the leukemia and with leukemia treatment the medical herb which the eastern medicine possesses in development and room sacrifice an eastern medicine theory and the false eye presented the drug which is therapeutic possibility and they presented. The eastern medicine demonstration and therapeutic method is showing the therapeutic ratio which is effective about the leukemia. But according to the patient does a about prescription and therapeutic method differently and the room my composition is complicated and clinical day is consistent decides upon a reproducibility and a therapeutic ratio with difficult point of accumulation, with standardization of therapeutic method has the difficult point of supply. In treatment of the leukemia demonstrates a nature of a disease consequently with theory of eastern medicine and appropriately prescribes endeavors raises a therapeutic ratio and the medical herb and room proposal remedial value, under verifying reveals the clinical trial which is standardized leads and the medical herb and a room sacrifice and the verification and supply of effect and safety are necessary.

The dream is a well-known experience in the routine life. It is necessary to consider the dream to modality of diagnosis because many evidences that the dream represents the physiologic and pathologic changes in the human have been proved in recent days. The oneironosus(病夢) was caused by three factors, which are the external stresses of the body, malfunction of Jang-Bu(臟腑) and irregular of Yin-Yang(陰陽) and Gi-blood(氣血). The oneironosus(病夢) reflects the location, characteristics, progression and prognosis of the disease. In addition, it predicts the development of disease. The principle of treatment for the oneironosus(病夢) is making an effort for the stabilization of mind by eradicating the internal and external factors that make the spirit(神) been unstable.

Cheong-Gang Medical Chart is 60 years worth of diagnosis records kept by Oriental Medicine Doctor Kim Young Hoon [金永勳, 號 晴崗 1882-1974], who held practice in Seoul's Jong-ro from 1915 till 1974. Kim Young Hoon's eldest son, Kim Ki Su (金琦洙) donated the medical records exceeding a thousand volumes to KyungHee University, and researches are being made presently. The author of Cheong-Gang Medical Chart, Kim Young Hoon, was a medical scholar who studied the essence of the traditional medicine of his time. He was handed down the quintessence of traditional medicine by keeping in touch with the prominent oriental doctors in Seoul at that time, and he constantly applied it to his practice and made records of it. Consequently, his diagnosis charts contain a whole new form of prescriptions, treatment skills, and processes of clinical application that have never been seen before in the texts of Korean Medicine. The writer has written a paper on the present condition of Cheong-Gang Medical Chart, which was published in the Journal of Korean Oriental Medicine in 2004. This manuscript reports the results of the test studies made to develop an efficient database model as a prior step to organizing the medical records into a data bank.

Objective : To observe the trend in clinical study on atopic dermatitis(AD) over the last 3 years in order to develop a study methodology of AD in Oriental Medicine. Methods : Using the Pub med on line site; search terms: atopic dermatitis, field as title/abstract, limitation as published in the last 3 years, only items with links to full text, Humans, Clinical Trial, English. I observed the study contents of all this research and focused on the classification of treatments. I also observed of AD clinical trials registered on a clinical trial site(www.clinicaltrial.gov) on 23rd of June, 2007: study contents, localization and study designs. Results : Through the Pub Med site, I found 169 articles. Classified according to study subject, the studies related to treatment were 114(67.5%); physiology, pathology and prevention 12(7.1%); Diagnosis and Evaluation(7.1%); psychological aspects including quality of life 10(5.9%); diet and management 10(5.9%); epidemiology 7(4.1%); and others 7(4.1%). However, the treatment study of herb-medicine as intervention showed only 1 article. Futhermore, it wasn't based on Oriental Medicine philosophy. In the clinical trial site, there were 31 studies in which patients were recruited or planned for the future. The study on efficacy and safety of the medicine produced 14 trials, 5 comparative trials, 2 phototherapy, 2 diagnosis, 6 physiology and pathology, and 2 epidemiology. The trial institutions were concentrated in U.S.A. Conclusion : I suggest we'd better try to make a good clinical guideline and standardization of diagnosis and herb-medicine in order to develop a clinical study methodology of AD as soon as possible in the future. Even though it 's very hard to find the study methodology, we should aim to achieve positive results and show the evidence of the efficacy and safety of herb-medicine treatment for AD using Oriental Medicine.
