Purpose: The purpose of this study was to develop a new version of Spirituality Assessment Scale (N-SAS) and verify its reliability and validity. Methods: The total of 59 preliminary items for the N-SAS were selected through a literature review, two rounds of experts' content validation, cognitive interviews, and pre-tests. Verification of its reliability and validity was divided into two phases. In Phase I, questionnaires were collected from 219 adults. Reliability was tested using Cronbach's alpha, validity with item analysis, and exploratory factor analysis. In Phase II, questionnaires developed based on the results of Phase I were collected from 225 adults. Reliability was tested using Cronbach's alpha, validity with confirmatory factor analysis, and criterion validity. Results: The final version of the N-SAS comprised two dimensions (vertical and horizontal), four domains (relationship with God; meaning of life and self-integration; self-transcendence; and relationship with others, neighborhoods, and nature), and 44 items were identified. Total Cronbach's α was .97; those of each subscale ranged from .79 to .98. N-SAS scores were positively correlated with the scores of Howden's Spiritual Assessment Scale (r=.81, p<.001). Conclusion: Findings suggest that the N-SAS can be used to measure spirituality in adults. The use of N-SAS is expected to facilitate perceiving patient's spiritual needs and providing spiritual care.

This study introduces the possibility of the $9^{th}$ stage by Joan Erikson by adding Erikson's original theory of the $8^{th}$ stage and validates the gerotranscendece scale in later life. For this, 10 items from Erikson's scale was examined and the relationships among gerotranscendence, ego-integrity, and wisdom were examined using a sample of 244 elderly individuals over the age of 60. According to the results, the measurement of gerotranscendence based on Erikson was applicable to the Korean sample. In addition, ego-integrity and wisdom influenced gerotranscendence in later life. Based on these results, the validity of gerotranscedence, psychosocial development in the $9^{th}$ stage, discussed and the utility of Erikson's theory is emphasized.

Purpose: This study was designed to develop and test the Hope Scale for Korean cancer patients. Methods: The process for the development of the Hope Test was a selection of initial items drawn from a literature review and in-depth interviews. The selected items were assessed for content validity by experts. The Hope Scale was comprised of five factors and 30 preliminary items. The preliminary Hope Scale for Korean Cancer Patients (HS_KCP) was administered to 259 cancer patients from one university hospital and one cancer hospital in Busan. Data were analyzed using item analysis, factor analysis, Pearson correlation coefficients, and Cronbach's ${\alpha}$. Results: Eighteen items were selected for the final scale. Five factors (inner sense of control, trust and expectation for recovery of disease, interconnection, spirituality, emotional despair) evolved from the factor analysis, which explained 63.3% of the total variance. The convergent & discriminent validity was r=.83 (p<.001), r=-73 (p<.001). The internal consistency, Cronbach's ${\alpha}$ was .88 and reliability of the subscales ranged from .54 to .85. Conclusion: The Hope Scale for Korean cancer patients demonstrated acceptable validity and reliability. It can be used to assess the hope of cancer patients and is feasible within a clinical setting.
This study is a follow-up study of the Social Media Emotional Contagion(SECS) and it aims to validate the Social Media Emotional Contagion Scale(SECS) through CFA and criterion-related validity. The data was collected from 326 people in 20s. The criterion-related validity of SECS were confirmed with the Korean version of the Emotional Contagion Scale(K-ECS), the Basic Empathy Scale in Adult(BES-A), and the Rosenberg Self-esteem Scale(SES). As a result, the K-ECS and sub-factor of Emotional Contagion of BES-A, which are the same as the construction of SECS, converged. Other scales were differentiated from SECS. However, sub-factor of SES of positive self-esteem, which are the same as the construction of SECS, converged. Also, sub-factor of SES of negative self-esteem, which are the same as the construction of SECS of negative Emotional Contagion, converged. Finally, the significance and limitations of this study and future studies were discussed.
The purpose of this research was to develop an scale to measure mathematics anxiety coping behavior of elementary school children. Of the first 45 items selected from a review of literature, 33 items were selected by content validation, modification and revision. Validity, reliability, and item discrimination was based in responses of 1,831 subjects. Data were analyzed by factor analysis, correlation, Cronbach's, $\alpha$, mean, standard deviation, percentages, and t-test. The resulting Scale of Children's Mathematics Anxiety Coping Behavior consisted of 26 items with 5 factors : active problem-solving, aggressive emotion expression, aversive coping, passive coping, and seeking social support. Cronbach's $\alpha$ ranged from .67 to .86 for five factors. T-test showed the 26 items of the scale to be discriminant.
This study aims to development and validation a tool to measure physical education teaching anxiety(PETA) among preservice special teacher. In order to achieve this study purpose, first, the preliminary items for measurement scale were collected through open-ended questions and were developed by inductive content analysis from the 100 preservice special teacher. Second, investigation for construct validity was conducted on exploratory factor analysis from the 100 preservice special teacher. Third, in the final process, verify exernal validity was conducted by confirmatory factor analysis and t-test from the 300 presevice special teacher. As a result, the measurement scale of physical education teaching anxiety(PETA) among preservice special teacher consists of 4 main factors with 14 items: pedagogical content knowledge(n=4), understanding students(n=4), class environment(n=3), class management(n=3) factors and this scale has enough suitability.
In recent years, building architecture has become increasingly complex and larger in scale to accommodate many people. In densely populated facilities, the interiors are becoming more intricate and high-rise, with narrow corridors, hallways, and stairs. This poses challenges for evacuating occupants in case of emergencies such as fires, making it crucial to assess the evacuation safety in advance. In evacuation safety research, there are significant limitations to theoretical studies owing to their association with crowd behavior and human evacuation characteristics, as well as the risks associated with experiments involving human participants. Consequently, evacuation experiments conducted using simulation-based methodologies are gaining recognition worldwide. However, crowd simulations face validation difficulties because of variations in crowd movement and evacuation characteristics across different cases and scenarios, as well as the challenge of accurately reflecting human characteristics during evacuations. In this study, we investigated validation methods for evacuation simulations using the SAFEGUARD validation data set (SGVDS) provided by the University of Greenwich, UK. The SGVDS collects data on crowd evacuations through actual evacuation tests conducted on ColorLine's large RO-PAX ferry and Royal Caribbean International's cruise ships. The accuracy of the crowd simulations can be validated by comparing SGVDS and crowd simulation results. This study will contribute to the development of highly accurate crowd simulations by verifying various crowd simulations.
Purpose: Developmental care has been recognized as a very important component for the development and health promotion of preterm infants. However, research on how to assess developmental nursing competency has not been studied as expected. This study was done to develop and evaluate a new scale to measure nursing competency for developmental support of preterm infants. Methods: Concept analysis was done with using the Hybrid model of Schwartz-Barcott and Kim (2000), from which a preliminary new scale (30 items) was developed. To test the validity and reliability of the new scale being developed, data were collected from 122 NICU nurses at 4 hospitals in 3 cities in the Republic of Korea, from December, 2014 to March, 2015. Results: The final version of the Developmental Support Competency Scale for Nurses (DSCS-N) caring for premature infants was a 4-point Likert type scale, consisting of 19 items, and categorized as 6 factors, explaining 62.5% of the total variance. Each of the factors were named as follows; 'environmental support' (4 items), 'parental support' (3 items), 'interaction' (3 items), 'critical thinking' (3 items), 'professional development' (3 items), and 'partnership' (3 items). The Cronbach's ${\alpha}$ coefficient for the scale was .83 and the reliability of the subscales ranged from .60~.76. Conclusion: The psychometric evaluation of the new scale demonstrated an acceptable validity and reliability. Findings indicate that the DSCS-N can be used as the tool to test the effect of educational programs for nurses and contribute to advance developmental care for preterm infants.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to develop a scale to assess the transition shock experienced by newly graduated nurses, and test the validity and reliability of the scale. Methods: The initial items were identified through a review of literature and in-depth interviews with nine newly graduated nurses. Content validation of the items was evaluated by five nurse professors and three nurses. Participants were 269 newly graduated nurses who worked at six acute care hospitals in Busan, Ulsan, and Yangsan, South Korea. Data were analyzed using item analysis, exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis, criterion related validity, and internal consistency. Results: The final scale consisted of 18 items and six factors (conflict between theory and practice, overwhelming workload, loss of social support, shrinking relationship with co-workers, confusion in professional nursing values, and incongruity in work and personal life), which explained 71.3% of the total variance. The six subscale model was validated by confirmatory factor analysis. Cronbach's alpha for the total items was. 89. Convergent validity was evaluated by analyzing total correlation with burnout (r=.71, p<.001) and turnover intention (t=5.84, p<.001). Conclusion: This scale can be used in the development of nursing interventions to reduce the transition shock experienced by newly graduated nurses.
