Tool Path Generation for Rough Cutting Using Octree (옥트리를 이용한 황삭 가공경로생성)

  • Rouge cutting process takes the major portion of machining operation using NC milling machine. Especially, most of the machining time is spent in this process when molds are machined. Therefore, an efficient algorithm for generating the tool path for rough cutting is suggested in this paper. The first step of the procedure is getting the volume to be machined by applying the Boolean operation on the finished model and the workpiece which have been modeling system. Basic principle of determining machining procedure is that a large tool should be used at the portion of the simple shape while a small tool should be used at the complex portion. This principle is realized by representing the volume to be machined by an octree, which is basically a set of hexahedrons, and matching the proper tools with the given octants. When the tools are matched with the octants, the tool path can be derived at the same time.

  • In this paper, a precise sensitivity measurement system of ultrasonic transducer in the frequency range from 1 MHz to 15 MHz, which can implement the reciprocity principle is constructed. All of the elements of this system such as the ultrasonic preamplifier, ultrasonic absorber, water tank, water degassing system, and four-axes translator and reflector are constructed. For the performance evaluation of the calibration system, a standard hydrophone precisely calibrated from PTB(Physikalisch Technische Bundesanstalt) in Germany are used. And the system parameters which affected the evaluation of the measurement accuracy and the reproducibility in various measuring conditions are considered. The measurement uncertainty of the calibration system is estimated within $\pm$ 2.0㏈.

  • When imaginary numbers were first encountered in the 16th century, mathematicians were able to calculate the imaginary numbers the same as they are today. However, it required 200 years to mathematically acknowledge the existence of imaginary numbers. The new mathematical situation that arose with a development in mathematics required a harmony of real numbers and imaginary numbers. As a result, the concept of complex number became clear. A history behind the development of complex numbers involved a process of determining a comprehensive perspective that ties real numbers and imaginary numbers in a single category, complex numbers. This came after a resolution of conflict between real numbers and imaginary numbers. This study identified the new perspective and way of mathematical thinking emerging from resolving the conflicts. Also educational implications of the analysis were discussed.

  • Kinetic studies of the reaction of Z-aryl cyclopropanecarboxylates with X-pyridines in acetonitrile at 55.0 ℃ have been carried out. The reaction proceeds by a stepwise mechanism in which the rate-determining step is the breakdown of the zwitterionic tetrahedral intermediate, $T^{\pm}$. These mechanistic conclusions are drawn base on (i) the large magnitude of ρx and ρz, (ii) the positive sign of ρxz and the larger magnitude of ρxz than normal $S_N2$ processes, (iii) a small positive enthalpy of activation, Δ$H^≠$, and a large negative, Δ$S^≠$, and lastly (iv) adherence to the reactivity-selectivity principle (RSP) in all cases.

  • In the light of the properties of colloids, in the surface of disperse phase and dispersion, there exist specific characters such as adsorption or electric double layer, which seems to play important roles in determining the physiochemical properties in the dyeing system. Nylon, wool and silk, the typical amphoteric fibers were dyed with Acid dye and various combinations were prepared by combining pH, temperature and dye concentration, in order to generate flowing electric potential which were measured by microviolt meter and specific conductivity meter. The results were transformed to Zeta potential by Helmholtz-Smoluchowski formular and to surface electric charge density by Suzawa formular, surface dye amount, and effective surface area of fibers, and these data were statistically analysed by principle component analysis.

  • In the transportation network problems, it is often more desirable to select multiple number of optimal parths to prepare for additional constratints being imposed than to choose single optimal path. This paper addresses 'the problem of finding the k-shortest paths visiting p-specified nodes in a network'. The solution method is derived and the example of application is shown. The keypoint for determining the k-shortest paths via p-specified nodes is to combine the Shier's k-shortest path algorithm and the principle of optimality of dynamic programming method. Finally, for a transportation network problem consisting of national main routes, the k-shortest paths via some specified cites are obtained by using the solution method developed here.

  • An analytical method for determining the degree of wave refraction is investigated. The ray tracing method previously used to calculate wave propagating cannot explain the degree of refraction caused by different kinds of conditions. In this study, we suggest the index of refraction degree using the principle that refraction is caused by the difference of phase velocities along the crest line.

  • In order to enhance the 8 principle pattern diagnosis rate comparing with diagnostic method by self-report questionnaire on cold/heat pattern in the clinical practice, a new diagnostic method using form-color-pulse-symptom (FCPS) system is proposed. FCPS system is composed of outputs of cold/heat pattern through the calculation process of contribution degree to the cold, heat pattern and qi, blood, yin, yang deficiency patterns, based on analysis of 16 mechanisms of disease calculated by diagnostic system of oriental medicine (DSOM) first. And second component is an output of differentiated 8 principle patterns in detail through binding and calculating process with digital informations of pulse, color, form, constitution obtained by computerized measurement system. Putting together above two processes consecutively, cold-heat complex or true/false cold/heat patterns and personalized characters of cold/heat patterns of each patient can be subdivided through a computation method of determining each pattern. In conclusion, 8 principle pattern identification can be performed more accurately using FCPS system than existent self report questionnaire method. These hypothetic proposal is needed to be proven by clinical trial for the future and then the accurate numbers used in each calculational function should be revised properly.

  • The advance of traction motor control technology and the complexity of the traction power supply system makes the simulation essential in determining the dimension of the traction power supply system. The conventional method, use of the simplified and/or empirical equations, becomes inadequate in optimization of the design. The simulator presented in this paper is a numerical time based simulator running on a PC. The input to the simulator includes the track data, the train characteristic, network data and operating data. Basically the simulator conducts train running simulation and loadflow study repeatedly. The principle algorithms and its output is discussed in the paper.

  • Based on the principle of complementary energy an analytical method is developed for determining thermal stress distribution in an thermal barrier coating. This method gives the stress distributions which satisfy the stress-free boundary conditions at the edge. Numerical examples are given in order to verify the method and to investigate the thickness effects of the ZrO$_2$-8wt%Y$_2$O$_3$ top coat on the integrity of thermal barrier coating consisted of IN738LC substrate and MCrAlY bond coat.
