This paper introduces GP(Genetic Programming) based corner detectors for an image processing. Various empirical algorithms have been studied to improve computational speed and accuracy including typical approaches, such as Harris and SUSAN. The these techniques are highly efficient, because properties of corner points are inspected and reflected into the algorithms. However these approaches are limited in discovering an innovative algorithm. In this study, we try to discover a more efficient technique by creating corner detector automatically using evolution of GP. The proposed method is compared to the existing corner detectors for test images.
Low temperature micro-calorimeters have been employed in the field of high resolution alpha spectrometers. These alpha detectors typically consist of a superconducting or metal absorber and a temperature sensor. The temperature sensor can be a transition edge sensor (TES), a metallic magnetic calorimeter (MMC) or other low temperature detectors for an accurate measurement of temperature change due to an alpha particle absorption. We report a recent study of the heat flow between a replaceable absorber and a temperature sensor. A piece of gold foil in $2.4{\times}2.7{\times}0.03\;mm^3$ is used as an absorber. A $40\;{\mu}m$ diameter Au:Er paramagnetic sensor is attached to another small piece of gold foil in $400{\times}200{\times}30\;{\mu}m^3$ to serve as the temperature sensor. This sensor assembly, Au:Er and gold foil, is placed on a miniature SQUID susceptometer in a gradiometric configuration. The thermal connection between the absorber and the sensor was made with three gold bonding wires. The measured thermal conductance shows a linear dependence to the temperature. The values are in a good agreement with Wiedemann-Franz type thermal conductance of the gold wires.
An experimental study for an optimum etching of commercialized cellulose nitrate SSNTD, CA 80-15 and LR 115-1 for detecting alpha particles, was carried out. Alt-hough ordinary etching condition of the detectors has been recommended by the producer, a remarkable discrepancy in etching tine was found. The detectors were irradiated with a $0.1{\mu}Ci\;^{241}Am$ alpha source under a known geometrical arrangement. Analysis on the track size as functions of etching time and etchant concentration and comparative examination of theoretically predicted number of tracks per unit area with that recorded on the detectors were made, including a study on the variation of detection efficiency with the effective energy of the incident alpha particles.
Silicon carbide (SiC) is a promising material for neutron detection at harsh environments because of its capability to withstand strong radiation fields and high temperatures. Two PIN-type SiC semiconductor neutron detectors, which can be used for nuclear power plant (NPP) applications, such as in-core reactor neutron flux monitoring and measurement, were designed and fabricated. As a preliminary test, MCNPX simulations were performed to estimate reaction probabilities with respect to neutron energies. In the experiment, I-V curves were measured to confirm the diode characteristic of the detectors, and pulse height spectra were measured for neutron responses by using a $^{252}Cf$ neutron source at KRISS (Korea Research Institute of Standards and Science), and a Tandem accelerator at KIGAM (Korea Institute of Geoscience and Mineral Resources). The neutron counts of the detector were linearly increased as the incident neutron flux got larger.
Electron microbursts, energetic electron precipitation having duration less than 1 sec, have been thought to be generated by chorus wave and electron interactions. While the coincidence of chorus and microburst occurrence supports the wave-particle interaction theory, more crucial evidences have not been observed to explain the origin of microbursts. We propose the measurement of energy dispersion of microbursts could be an evidence supporting wave-particle theory. During chorus waves propagate along magnetic field, the resonance condition should be satisfied at different magnetic latitude for different energy electrons. If we observed electron microbursts at low altitude, the arrival time of different energy electrons should make unique dispersion structures. In order to observe such energy dispersion, we need a detector having fast time resolution and wide energy range. Our study is motivated from defining the time resolution and energy range of the detectors required to measure microburst energy dispersions. We performed test particles simulation to investigate how electrons interact with simple coherent waves like chorus waves. We compute a large number of electron's trajectories and successfully produce energy dispersion structures expected when microbursts are observed with 10 msec time resolution detectors at the altitude of 600 km. These results provide useful information in designing electron detectors for the future mission.
A flame detector responds either to radiant energy visible to the human eye or outside the range of human vision. Such a detector is sensitive to glowing embers, coals, or flames which radiate energy of sufficient intensity and spectral quality to actuate the alarm. An infra-red detectors can respond to the total IR component of the flame alone or in combination with flame flicker in the frequency range of 5 to 30 Hz. A major problem in the use of infrared detectors receiving total IR radiation is the possible interference of solar radiation in the infrared region. When detectors are located in places shielded from the sun, such as vaults, filtering or shielding the unit from the sun's rays is unnecessary. In this study, we proposed method for redue a false alarm with using filtering & sensor technology for distinguish of causes of raise a false alarm and pure flame.
Fire detectors are designed to minimize loss of life from a fire alarm system as an alarm to help evacuate more quickly until the completion of the evacuation alarm should be continued. the purpose of such alarms in order to achieve the characteristic fire heat release rate reaches a certain level, or when a certain time has elapsed, when the heat detector is to be alarms to answer. Requires a quick response, it is desirable to install the sensor as much as possible, but taking into account the cost of installation problems by engineering approach to minimize the quantity and rapidity of detection capability should be increased. In order to increase the rapidity of fire detectors in a room according to the height of the sensing period is to be maintained the optimum distance of the fire detector detects characteristics should be considered. Differential spot-type heat detectors installed domestic basis, depending on the type of sensor that can detect one sensor area is limited and less than 4m ceiling height regulations and simply double the number in excess of 4m and intended to be installed.

The spectrum weighted responses of various detectors were calculated to provide guidance on the proper selection and use of survey instruments on the basis of their energy response characteristics on the neutron fields. To yield the spectrum weighted response, the detector response functions of 17 neutron-measuring devices were numerically folded with each of the produced calibration neutron spectra through the in-house developed software 'K-SWR'. The detectors' response functions were taken from the IAEA Technical Reports Series No. 403 (TRS-403). The reference neutron fields of 21 kinds with 2 spectra groups with different proportions of thermal and fast neutrons have been produced using neutrons from the $^{241}Am$-Be sources held in a graphite pile, a bare $^{241}Am$-Be source, and a DT neutron generator. Fluence-average energy ($E_{ave}$) varied from 3.8 MeV to 16.9 MeV, and the ambient-dose-equivalent rate [$H^*(10)/h$] varied from 0.99 to 16.5 mSv/h.
This paper presents the development of an electrical fire detection system using digital temperature and current detectors in order to sound for electrical fire in advance. As the demand for electricity is increasing and industrial facilities are getting more complex and larger in size, the losses of human life and property are on the increase by electrical fires. In order to prevent electrical fires, it is required to find out fire signatures, or electric signal of the overcurrent and overheating. Therefore, in this paper, developed is an electrical fire detection system based on the detection of signal for overcurrent and overheating to prevent electrical accidents in advance that happen in electrical wires. The developed system gives an alarm by computer monitor, speaker system and mobile phone before electrical fires occur and give severe damages to human beings and properties, and the system can be implemented and supplied for business and residental buildings at a low price. The usefulness and validity of the system, also, verified in this paper by case study and experiments.

We derive decision regions of the maximum likelihood(ML) and suboptimum ML(S-ML) detectors in the first order moving average(FOMA) of an impulsive process. The ML and S-ML detectors are compared in terms of the bit-error-rate in the antipodal signaling system. Numerical results show that the S-ML detector, despite its reduced complexity and simpler structure, exhibits practically the same performance as the optimum ML detector. It is also shown that the performance gap between detectors for FOMA and independent and identically distributed noise becomes larger as the degree of noise impulsiveness increases.
