  • A method of detecting the three phase currents for a voltage-fed pusle width modulated(PWM) inverter is proposed, where only one current sensor is utilized on the dc-link. The proposed method has the constant sampling time by employing he modified space-vector PWM technique which generates the rearranged switching pattern to detect a phase current from ad dc-link current. Experimental results show that eh proposed scheme provides a very good detection method of three phase currents without phase current sensors. This method is very simple and has small detection errors.

  • This paper presents a simple and fast method for end point detection under low-level noisy environment. The proposed algorithm uses a threshold logic with LSP distances and takes vocoded packets as input to the recognition system. The results from the proposed method are compared with those manually checked in decoded speeches. From the result it exhibits acceptable accuracy.

  • Recently, the importance of an early response has been emphasized due to the large fire. The most efficient method of extinguishing a large fire is early response to a small flame. To implement this solution, we propose a fire detection mechanism based on a deep learning artificial intelligence. In this study, a small amount of data sets is manipulated by an image augmentation technique using rotating, tilting, blurring, and distorting effects in order to increase the number of the data sets by 5 times, and we study the flame detection algorithm using faster R-CNN.

  • The influences of background and environmental noise on coincidence detection are investigated with entangled photons produced by parametric down-conversion process. When the down-converted photons are mixed with thermal light, the coincidence rate did not vary with increasing noise level because the accidental coincidences are discriminated at the short resolving time window. The entangled photon source and the coincidence technique can effectively be used for a noise-free communication channel in the new field of quantum information transmission and processing. ssing.

  • The detection limit of boron has been lowered further in the capture gamma-ray measurement after preconcentration of boron by placing natural lithium brick in front of Ge(Li) detector. The experimental detection limit is found to be 0.30ppm, 0.18ppm, 0.045ppm and 0.090ppm for the samples of aluminum, steel, uranium dioxide and graphite, respectively. An alternate counting technique kas been also used for neglecting the error caused by the fluctuation of neutron flux during counting.

  • Salt deposited on the surface of insulators used in electric power system causes flash-over accidents. Therefore, the quantity of salt on insulators should be monitored not to exceed a critical value. We propose a new remote sensing technique to measure the quantity of salt on insulators of power systems. A pulsed laser beam is focussed on ah insulator to dissociate the salt to sodium atoms. The amount of the salt is measured from the intensity of the spontaneous mission from the sodium atoms. In this paper, a compact salt meter composed of pulsed Nd:YAG laser and omission signal detection system will be introduced. And measurement condition such as the sensitivity, detection range, required laser fluence will be investigated.

  • This paper presents a new method for the motion detection of vehicles using hierarchical motion estimation and parallel processing. It captures the road image by using a CMOS sensor. It divides the captured image into small blocks and detects the motion of each block by using a block-matching method which is based on a hierarchical motion estimation and parallel processing for the real-time processing. The parallelism is achieved by using the pipeline and the data flow technique. The proposed method has been implemented with an embedded system. Experimental results show that the proposed method detects the motion of vehicles in real-time.

  • The simultaneous determination of As(III), As(V), and DMA has been performed by ion chromatography (IC) coupled with inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry (ICP-MS). The separation of the three arsenic species was achieved by an anionic separator column (AS 7) with an isocratic elution system. The separated species were directly detected by ICP-MS as an element-selective detection method. The IC-ICP-MS technique was applied for the determination of arsenic species in a NIST SRM 1643d water sample. An As(III) only was detected in the sample. The detection limits of As(III), As(V) and DMA were 0.31, 0.45, and 2.09 ng/mL, respectively. It was also applied for the determination of arsenic species in a human urine obtained by a volunteer, and three arsenic species were identified. The determination of total As in human urines that were obtained from 25 volunteers at the different age was also carried out by ICP-MS.

  • A high-performance liquid chromatographic method with fluorometric detection was evaluated for analysis of ofloxacin in plasma. Biological fluids (plasma, $200\;{\mu}L$) were prepared for assay by protein precipitation with chlorofurm. The detection of ofloxacin and triamterene as an internal standard were performed at 358 nm for excitation and 495 nm for emission. The HPLC separation was carried out on Ultrasphere ODS column (4.6 mm${\times}25\;cm,\;5\;{\mu} m$) with acetonitrile $(45\%)$-phosphoric acid $(1.5\%)\;containing\;0.3\%$ sodium laurylsulfate as the mobile phase. The flow-rate was 1.0 mL/min. The calibration graphs were linear from 3.0 to 80 ng/mL with r=0.998. The minimal detectable concentration in plasma was 1.5 ng/mL. The proposed technique is reproducible, selective, reliable and sensitive.

  • In order to improve sensing performance when the noise variance is not known, this paper considers a so-called blind spectrum sensing technique that is based on eigenvalue models. In this paper, we employed the spiked population models in order to identify the miss detection probability. At first, we try to estimate the unknown noise variance based on the blind measurements at a secondary location. We then investigate the performance of detection, in terms of both theoretical and empirical aspects, after applying this estimated noise variance result. In addition, we study the effects of the number of SUs and the number of samples on the spectrum sensing performance.
