  • Mobile devices are being widely used to access Internet contents. However, most available web pages are designed for desktop computers and consequently it is inconvenient to browse large web pages on mobile devices with small screen. Text identification is a process to extract texts from the body of a web page, which are then displayed in a comfortable way for reading. In this paper, we propose a text extraction scheme and discuss its implementation.

  • [ $T_EX$ ] is a typesetting system created by Donald E. Knuth for producing publication-quality scientific books and journals. It is famous for the line breaking algorithm, the formatting of complex mathematical formula, and the powerful macro programming capability. Recently $T_EX$ plays a new role of an automatic typesetting engine. The paper describes $T_EX$ in the framework of typography by comparing with DTP softwares and word processors.

  • We proposed eight dimensions and their constituents of product advantage in the last issue. In this study, using the dimensions and constituents, gap analyses are conducted on some product categories(; desktop computer, PCS terminal, and washing machine) in order to know what dimensions or constituents are major areas to be improved. For the purpose of strategic use of the dimensions of product advantage, Kano analyses are also applied. Based on the results of the gap analyses and Kano analyses, the future directions of new products development for the selected products are suggested.

  • 최근 주목을 받고 있는 시맨틱 웹의 핵심인 온톨로지는 특정 도메인의 지식들을 정형화하고, 그들 간의 관계를 표현한 것이다. 이러한 온톨로지를 구축하는는 데에 RDF, OWL, DAML+OIL 과 같은 다양한 언어들이 사용되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 RDF 를 이용하여 데스크탑 컴퓨터 조립을 위한 컴퓨터 부품 온톨로지를 구축하고, RDQL 로 온톨로지를 검색하는 방법을 소개한다. 향후 연구는 기존의 단순 매칭을 통한 검색을 포함한, 추론을 거쳐 최적화된 부품 조합을 얻기 위한 연구를 할 것이다.

  • 기존의 CAVE 를 이용한 분자구조 visualization 혹은 교육 시스템에서는 CAVE 시스템의 특징을 반영하지 않은 desktop 방식의 상호작용(interaction) 방법과 조망(viewing) 방법을 제공했다. 이러한 기존의 방법들은 CAVE 시스템의 장점을 충분히 이용하지 못한 것이다. 우리는 사용자에게 CAVE 시스템의 장점을 잘 살릴 수 있는 일인칭 시점의 조망을 제공하는 분자구조 교육 시스템을 개발함으로써 사용자에게 좀더 교육적으로나 경험적으로 효과가 큰 분자구조 교육 시스템을 제안한다. 또한 간단한 실험을 통해서 우리가 제안한 시스템의 효과를 알아보았다.

Recent Liquid Crystal Material Development for VA-TFT

  • A large size flat panel LCD-TV must fulfill different requirements than a desktop LCD-monitor: The contrast must be much larger, the viewing angle should be as wide as possible and the switching times must be shorter to allow moving pictures to be displayed naturally. The "Vertically Aligned" technology is most promising to realize such a product. LC-material development for this technology began at Merck about 10 years ago. New materials based on the 1,1,6,7-tetrafluoroindane skeleton were recently synthesized via ortho-metallation and intramolecular Heck cyclization followed by an oxidative fluorination procedure. The materials offer improved properties over liquid crystals currently employed in flat panel LCD-TVs.

  • In this paper, we propose and developed a keyglove using the touch-typing method as new solutions to the problem of text input into the mobile computing devices. This device recognizes that character is typed in though the hand's movements analysis and requires no additional space on a person's desktop or work surface, and can be easily used with computers of any size, even the smallest mobile computer, and is designed as an input device for wearable computers and virtual environment. The concept of the wearable input device based on human hand-molies recognition.

  • IT technologies(Chips, Grid and e-Science) are rapidly changed from 1965. In 1965, Intel co-founder Gordon Mooresaq the future. His prediction popularly known as Moore's law, state that the computer chips double in power every 18 months Grid computing offers a model for solving massive computational problems by making use of the unused resources of large numbers of disparate, often desktop, computers treated as a virtual cluster embedded in a distributed telecommunications infrastructure.
