The domestic and foreign seismic design codes have specified that time history covers design response spectrum when the response spectrum, which calculated from the time history, is smaller than the design response spectrum at five points or less. In order to verify the design codes, time history analysis for a pier was performed by using five artificial time histories conforming design code with various characteristics and its member forces were evaluated according to them. It was confirmed from analysis results that, regardless of the conformity to design code requirement, seismic design using the artificial time histories could not guarantee earthquake resistant design if the response spectrum from them is lower than design response spectrum at the similar period to the natural frequency of structure. Thus, the time history generating method to make its acceleration response spectrum to be greater than design response spectrum at all period was proposed by two modification function in this study. It was also verified whether time histories from the proposed method satisfy the seismic design codes or not.

For CAD data users, few things are as frustrating as receiving CAD data that is unusable due to poor data quality. Users waste time trying to get better data, fixing the data, or even rebuilding the data from scratch from paper drawings or other sources. Most related works and commercial tools handle the boundary representation (B-Rep) shape of CAD models. However, we propose a design history?based approach for healing CAD model errors. Because the design history, which covers the features, the history tree, the parameterization data and constraints, reflects the design intent, CAD model errors can be healed by an interdependency analysis of the feature commands or of the parametric data of each feature command, and by the reconstruction of these feature commands through the rule-based reasoning of an expert system. Unlike other B Rep correction methods, our method automatically heals parametric feature models without translating them to a B-Rep shape, and it also preserves engineering information.

The purpose of this study was to verify the stability of environmental disposition through analyzing the short term effect of the 'Interior Design History' course on students environmental dispositions, especially their interior image preferences toward traditional/modern, female/masculine, and simple/complex characteristics. The pre-test post-test control group experimental design was used. The independent variable was the experience of the Interior Design History course, and the dependent variable was environmental disposition measured by IIPS(Interior Image Preference Scale). The measurements were done at both beginning and end of fall semester, 1997. Subjects were using 71 undergraduate students of Drafting course (control group) and 35 undergraduate students of Interior Design History course (experimental group) at Y University. Data were analyzed using frequency, percentage, mean, and F-test through ANOCOVA. This research revealed no effect of the Interior Design History course on students interior environmental dispositions. The stability of those environmental dispositions and also the validity of the IIPS were proved.

The machine structure or parts has been arrive at a fracture, depend on crack by repeated load. Machine designer is estimate of fatigue strength in early stages the design for prevent fatigue fracture, then necessary its load history. This research study is using diesel locomotive in measurement of load history for fatigue design of rolling stock. The relation between velocity and amplitude of load history was found. We confirmed that the increase of velocity make to increase the magnitude of amplitude.

Design history has been thought a secondary studies for design practice. Design historians have been accused of being unimaginative and unadventurous in sticking to dominant types of design such as products, furnitures and graphics. But Design history is still young subject which could be exploited in wide range and topics, and it should be thought a lot of researches could be done. Under this consciousness and circumstance, this study reviews the situation and perspective of design history studies in Korea by critical search on canonical books in the area such as Pevsner's, Banham's, Hesket's, Sparke's, and Chung's those translated into Koreans and Korean originals.

Display and art have different purposes. But they share a common mean, so-called artistic experience. These two formative business that seeks the profit as a commercial design, it has some relationship with art in the aspect of socialization of pursuit of aesthetics. Although the historical status and directivity of display have not been established systemiically yet, and aesthetic expansion of displace is uncertain it would be effective that the present and future of display art is connected with art history in the view of dynamic state of art history. In this thesis, the issues such as what is the relationship between display and art history or whether display can be mentioned as a formative art were analyzed by matching them with the trends in art history like naturalism, high tech, minimalists and so on. Modern display is a commercial design that can be developed in various ways and that is related to the as development of art history.

This research analyzes the involvement of hermeneutics in architectural history and theory studies and its pedagogy in the West after the 1950s. The research focuses on representative architectural schools in the West. In particular, this paper examines from the curricula of Joseph Rykwert and Dalibor Vesely at the University of Essex to their former students who played a significant role in expanding the history and theory courses in the late 20th century in the North America such as Alberto $P{\acute{e}}rez-G{\acute{o}}mez^{\prime}s$ (McGill University) and David Leatherbarrow (University of Pennsylvania). Through their leadership and other related architectural historians' efforts: 1) hermeneutics have been applied in architectural history studies from the critical perspectives of post-modern philosophy; 2) hermeneutics help stimulate discussions of thoughtful architectural design, enabling strong interactions between design theories and the embodied meanings of buildings; 3) these schools have produced and involved many prominent scholars who actively practice and develop the discourse of architectural history and theory from the perspectives of hermeneutics; 4) Finally, the hermeneutic approach in architectural history studies has enlightened many achieved architects' thoughtful design practice and theories within the emerging context of regional criticism and international cross-cultural architecture.
