  • An algorithm to enhance spectra matching of acceleration time history used in the seismic analysis of nuclear power plants(NPP) is proposed. The new scheme provides the solution on the highly fluctuating and over conservatism problems that happened in order to satisfy design spectrum enveloping criteria in the traditional method. To obtain optimized spectrum for a time history, a spectrum matching procedure that adapts a system identification technique is also developed. The algorithm also introduces maximum displacement control, baseline correction, clipping and raising of maximum peak of time history, and power spectral density (PSD) control of time history. It is verified through numerical examples that this new scheme can definitely generate acceleration time history, closely matching the target spectra and satisfying other stipulated requirements.

  • This paper introduces the outlines of review and approval processes, general criteria and usual practices taken in Japan for the seismic design of high-rise buildings. The structural calculations are based on time-history analyses followed by performance evaluations. This paper also introduces structural design of two high-rise buildings: one is a 100 m high reinforced concrete residential building, and the other is a 300 m high steel building for mixed use.

  • This study is on landscape design of existing rural village focused on for improvement of community. It's so one of serious problems in landscape in almost rural area of the nation. For the finding clue of landscape design of village view through this study, we surveyed 1 village located in Sangju city. By surveying landscape design factor of village, we can propose design method and a few results as follow; Firstly, the structure of village landscape has five principle factors. The five factors of landscape are history and culture, housing and building, nature, agriculture, and environment design. Secondly, color existing of housings is to contain a primary color on roof which is not in harmony. Nevertheless, we can also find the reform measure and the possibility because of the knowledge of village people.

  • Digital representations of products and parts have largely replaced physical drawings as the form in which product data are stored, analyzed, and communicated among the people contributing to the design of an automobile. Many individuals and companies participate in the design of an increasingly complex automobile; hence, the design process depends critically on team members' ability to share information about essential design elements. These trends have elevated the importance of the quality of product data and its efficient exchange. In this paper, we show state-of-the-art on Product Data Quality(PDQ), and activities of PDQ assurance. And we propose a novel design history-based approach for diagnosis and healing of a CAD model.

  • The purpose of this paper is to study the $boutonni{\grave{e}}re$, a floral decoration, history of $boutonni{\grave{e}}re$, a floral decoration, with a focus on its aesthetics, its practical use and its traditional meaning. After the examination of its history, the paper, recreated the proceeds by taking into consideration both the contemporary men's fashion, as well as the $boutonni{\grave{e}}re$ designs of the past. The three factors of contemporary $boutonni{\grave{e}}re$ design, in brief, are its historical meaning, the visual aesthetics and the wearability. In this paper, the research and design steps are as followed below. First, the paper examined the history of men's fashion leading up to the twenty-first century in order to get a deeper understanding of the history of $boutonni{\grave{e}}re$. Second, the paper attempted to find the most suitable fabric materials and flowers for the $boutonni{\grave{e}}re$, in order to produce diverse $boutonni{\grave{e}}re$ that can be worn in any season and occasion. As for the fabrics that can be used to make the $boutonni{\grave{e}}re$, organza can be used for the S/S season, and wool, tweed and suede can be used for the F/W season. The major characteristics that differentiate the kinds of $boutonni{\grave{e}}re$ are the "Carnation" and the "Rose of Sharon". The 'Rose of Sharon' $boutonni{\grave{e}}re$ as the symbol of our nation possesses an intricate meaning and practical function, so that this $boutonni{\grave{e}}re$ is used as an alternative badge of the national assembly and other social-national institutions and their members. This idea expands into other social and individual features that the $boutonni{\grave{e}}re$ is a differentiated fashion item that provides other personal styles and expresses individuality.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the utilization of history of science and STEAM and the elementary school teachers' perceptions about design-based STEAM instruction applying the history of science in science class. To research the utilization of the history of science and STEAM in elementary science class, educational value of design-based STEAM instruction applying the history of science, the questionnaire was revised based on research conducted by Lee & Shin(2014), Park et al.(2010), Shin & Han(2011) and developed questionnaire a total of 20 questions. It was administered to reply the questionnaire to 201 teachers of elementary school in D and G area. The results of this study were as follows: elementary school teachers did not teach actively the history of science, made it read students by simply introducing himself. They did not teach actively STEAM due to not enough time(busy to take a magnitude). They were difficult to teach, but the most focused on the 'Creative Problem-solving' process. And elementary school teachers perceived positively about the educational value of design-based STEAM instruction applying the history of science. Especially, they perceived that it can help elementary school students find a hint for solving the problem through examples of cases of scientific principles and a scientist. In conclusion, it implicates that it is need to regard elementary school teachers' perceptions on application of the history of science and STEAM, and develop specific design-based STEAM program applying the history of science in order to be applied successfully in elementary school for the STEAM settlement.

  • This study identifies the current status of hanok design process and required design information through individual survey and interview with hanok architects and builders to suggest a proposal. Current design system turns out to be a common design process not reflecting hanok's unique mechanism of production. The proposal consists of the alternative design process, 'Initial survey / Site and structural planning / Spatial layout and form / Openings, interior and exterior elements design / Detail design', containing the specialty of hanok's mechanism, and the lists of design information required in its each stage. The proposed design process also emphasizes the significance of consultation in a way of designing coordination, and classifies the specific contents for each consultation moments. The study is expected to contribute for architects including the group who are not specialized in hanok to improve the architectural quality by following the systematic design process. Also the design system provides a framework to organize the vast range of design information being recently developed in the technique-oriented area.

  • Geographically Korea is located near the Southeast Asia and her volume of trade with countries in this region is just next those with America and japav. It is also true, however, that we do not have enough data for the region even though there have been increasing investments and travels from Korea to countries in the region in recent years. Especially, the same is true of the design it may be safely said that we have been indifferent. The purpose of this study is to suggest new design translation ways to find new markets in the Southeast Asian counties, probably away to break off with the so- called IMF era competing with those countries ranging from the Design Powers of European countries, america, and Japan to those countries that have long held markets in the region -Hongkong, Australia, New Zealand, Taiwan, and Singapore. Seemingly, markets in the Asian countries would be good means for us to complete our policy of the internationalization or globalizatiov. As the region has more various races, cultures, customs, and historical backgrounds than any other countries or regions in the world, not only general political and economical situations based on each one's history and culture are reviewed but also construction markets in the Southeast countries, one of barometers for modernization, examined with a view to suggesting means to develop interior design manpower to be more competitive than the counterpart of the advanced counties. The 21st century will be of design culture without fail. Through our design history is relatively short, we have and proud of the five - millennium long history which is just individual source of the creativeness and aesthetics to lead the design field in the world with god competitiveness.
