Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify knowledge, facilitators, and barriers of breast self-examination(BSE) in Korean couples for developing a continuous regular BSE promotion program. Method: This descriptive study was undertaken with a focus group methodology including 27 couples of husbands and wives recruited by convenience-sampling. Data transcribed from audiotapes was analyzed to identify common themes. Results: Knowledge of breast cancer and BSE included 'the risk factors of breast cancer', 'prevention of breast cancer', and 'how to do BSE'. Facilitators to BSE included 'self, health professional, and spouse-facilitating factors'. Barriers to BSE included 'cognitive, psychological, informational, and physical barriers'. Conclusion: To promote compliance with BSE among women, tailored programs according to the stage of change of BSE adoption are crucial, not only reflecting the specific needs of the individual by the stage of change, but also utilizing husbands as facilitators.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of academic resilience and interpersonal competence on the happiness of nursing students. A descriptive design was used to study 158 nursing students in nursing school through convenience sampling. IBM SPSS ver. 23.0 (IBM Corp., Armonk, NY, USA) was used to analyze data for descriptive statistics, t-test, analysis of variance, Tukey post hoc test, Pearson's correlations, and multiple regressions. The results showed that the level of nursing students' happiness was lower than that of college students in other majors, but academic resilience and interpersonal competence among nursing students were relatively high. Nursing students' happiness was positively correlated with academic resilience and interpersonal competence. The factors affecting happiness were academic resilience (${\beta}=0.459$, p<0.001), satisfaction with major (${\beta}=0.272$, p=0.006), perceived subjective health status (${\beta}=0.223$, p=0.013), and interpersonal competence (${\beta}=0.185$, p=0.003). Explained variance for happiness was 56.4%, and academic resilience was the most influential factor in the happiness of nursing students. Nursing students are caring human beings and should be able to pursue a happy life; therefore, it is necessary to improve satisfaction levels with the nursing major, guide students to excel in their academic achievement, prepare health education programs, and design curriculum that inspires confidence in interpersonal relationships.
Purpose: This study was done to examine the relationship between sexual permissiveness, family function and parent-adolescent communication among adolescents. Method: A descriptive correlation approach was used and the participants were 956 male and female students. Data were collected by questionnaire survey using convenience sampling. The instruments were the Family APGAR Questionnaire by Smilkstein(1978), PAC by Olson and Barnes(1982), and the Premarital Sexual Permissiveness Questionnaire by Reiss(1967). Data were analyzed using the SPSS 10.0 program with descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation coefficients, t-test, and ANOVA. Results: Family function was significant according to school record, economic status, living arrangement of parent. Parent-Adolescent Communication was significant according to religion, economic status, having a boy/girl friend, and experience of sexual intercourse. Sexual permissiveness was significant for all except economic status. Correlation among the variables showed that parent-adolescent communication was negatively correlated to sexual permissiveness(r=-.127, p=.000) and positively to family function(r=.368, p=.000). Conclusion: The findings suggest that parent-adolescent communication and family function are associated with sexual permissiveness, and the findings of this study are expected to make a contribution to creating an ideal sexual culture for youth.

Purpose: This study was conducted to explore the relationship between simulation-based clinical judgment and performance ability for tracheal suction in nursing students. Methods: With a convenience sampling, 207 nursing students participated in this descriptive study. Lasater clinical judgment rubric was used for self-reported clinical judgment in addition to observe the skill of tracheal suction using a checklist. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test and Pearson's correlation coefficients using the SPSS/WIN 22. Results: A scenario with pneumonia patient was developed to observe the skill of tracheal suction during simulation-based practices. Then self-reported clinical judgment was scored. The mean score of total sum of clinical judgment, total mean of clinical judgment, and performance skill were $36.44{\pm}4.82$, $13.44{\pm}1.71$, and $42.32{\pm}5.05$, respectively. Statistically, students having good skills in suction showed significant differences in clinical judgment of interpreting (p=.031) compared to students having fair skills. Conclusion: The results of this study show that a structured debriefing method utilizing Lasater clinical judgment rubric is helpful. Also, simulation-based practice related to adult nursing in the respiratory system was useful for increasing the core basic skills among nursing students.
Purpose: This study was done to identify the relationship of trait anger, health state, physical symptoms. and general characteristics to physical symptoms and to identify factors affecting physical symptoms of elderly in urban areas. Methods: The research design for this study was a descriptive survey design using a convenience sampling. Elders (n=276), who agreed to participate in this study completed a self-reporting questionnaire. The collected data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and multiple regression. Results: Study participants reported low trait anger (M=18.61), physical symptoms (M=7.15), and moderate health state (M=3.30). The 45.4%of variance in physical symptoms was significantly explained by emotional function health state (${\beta}$=-.284, p=.013), which is one of the sub-domain of the elderly health state, and trait anger (${\beta}$=3.841, p<.001). Conclusion: Findings of this study provide that the most important factors in explaining physical symptoms for the elders in Korea were emotional function health state and trait anger. Based on the findings of this study, further nursing practice and nursing research for the elders with physical symptoms should be focused on emotional support.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate parents' perceptions and attitudes regarding a screening test for and subsequent management of students' emotional and behavioral problems. Methods: A descriptive research design was used, and included disproportional stratified and cluster random sampling. The sample comprised 223 parents of elementary, middle, and high school students. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Chi-squared test, and ANOVA with SPSS/WIN 21.0. Results: Overall, parents responded that they knew of the goals, types, and tools of screening tests for students' emotional and behavioral problems. In total, 64.6% of parents reported having information for the screening test in advance. Only 13.5%(n=30) of students had emotional and behavioral problems in the last year. Among these students, 56.7%(n=17) were referred to mental health facilities but only 29.4%(n=5) of them received ongoing management from these facilities. Conclusion: These findings suggest that parents should receive information about the screening test for and subsequent management of students' emotional and behavioral problems. Health professionals need to build strategies to provide ongoing management for students who have emotional and behavioral problems.

The study tested a hybrid model with constructs drawn from the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) and Diffusion of Innovation (DOI) theory in order to examine the moderating effect of productivity and relative advantage (RA) on perceived usefulness (PU) vis-à-vis electronic information resources (EIR) adoption in private university libraries in Ogun and Osun States of Nigeria. The descriptive research design was adopted in the study. The population consisted of 61 (55.0%) librarians and 50 (45.0%) library officers (totaling 116—100%) in Babcock University, Bells University, Covenant University, Bowen University, Oduduwa University, and Redeemer's University. Purposive sampling procedure was adopted after which total enumeration was used since the total population is small. The questionnaire was used for data collection. Of the 116 copies of the questionnaire administered, 111 (95.7%) were found usable. The instrument was structured based on a 4-point Likert agreement scale of Strongly Agree, Agree, Disagree, and Strongly Disagree. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics like tables of frequency counts and percentage. The findings revealed that productivity and relative advantage are significant moderators of perceived usefulness of EIR adoption in private university libraries in Ogun and Osun States, Nigeria.
Purpose: The study investigated the relationship of health behavior with bone mineral density (BMD) for college students. Methods: A descriptive study was done using a convenient sampling of college students (n=116) enrolled in a health-related department. Height, weight, body mass index (BMI), health behaviors recognition of subjective health, smoking, drinking, exercise, food habits, intake of calcium, and family history of fracture were measured. BMD was measured at the right forearm using Hologic lunar duel-energy X-ray absorptiometry. Data were analyzed using descriptive analysis, t-test, ANOVA and multiple linear regression. Results: The prevalence of osteopenia and osteoporosis was 41.4% and 22.4%, respectively. Significant relationships were observed between BMD of right forearm and gender, BMI, subjective health recognition, drinking, and exercise (p<.05). Results of linear regression after adjusted BMD were increased concerning subjective health recognition and regular exercise (p<.05). Conclusions: Subjective health recognition and exercise carries positive effects on BMD. We recommend for college students that healthy behaviors like proper weight, smoking cessation, regular exercise, regular food habits, and health awareness are helpful to BMD.
