  • Recently, the table of contents (TOC) has been becoming increasingly accessible and utilized. The study conducted descriptive statistics and comparative analysis of the table of contents in terms of parts of speech and subject in text. For this purpose, this study chose the books of the social sciences field from acquisition lists of an academic library, obtained Dewey class numbers of target books from KERIS union catalog, and extracted TOC data from online bookstore. Morphological analysis was performed on each book titles and TOCs, and descriptive statistics and frequency analysis were carried out. As a result, nouns made up roughly half of the morphemes of titles or the TOCs. TOCs had about 50 times more nouns than titles. The percentage of unique nouns that appeared only in the table of contents is estimated to be 95.2% of the TOC's total nouns. The table of contents also showed a differences in its lengths depending on the field of social science.

Descriptive survey research design was used. Participants were 426 and the data collecting period was from July. 22. to July. 29. in 2008. The data were analyzed using descriptive analysis, chi-square test, Wilcoxon's signed rank test. The participants experiencing in hospice education program demonstrated higher perception level and education need about hospice than non-participants. Also, The participants experiencing in hospice education showed more concerning on effective education contents of hospice than non-participants. Therefore, hospice education program must be prepared in a continual and systematic way in order to provide for effective education of medical students in Korea.

  • Through investigating communication contents, extent of conflict, and its causes between medical residents and nurses/technicians, this study will provide the effective communication skills to ease interpersonal conflicts and maintain healthy partner relationships. This is a descriptive study to find out the communication contents, extent of conflicts and its causes between medical residents and nurses/technicians. Data were collected from April $1^{st}$, 2004 to April $8^{th}$, 2004 from 118 medical residents, 288 nurses, 85 radiology technicians and 107 laboratory technicians in 4 university hospitals in Seoul capital region. Data analysis was done with SPSS version 11.0 using descriptive statistics, ANOVA and chi-test. Interpersonal conflict towards medical residents were rated higher by nurses than technicians (Nurses > Technologists = Medical residents). Causes of conflict showed regional differences. In communication contents, all regions showed "Thank you" and "Well done" as most pleasant comments. Medical residents proved other medical residents' negative comments as most unpleasant and nurses and technicians proved residents' commanding phrases, disrespectful speech, and urging comments to be most unpleasant. Communication between the center members of the medical organization is very important in treating patients and understanding each other. For smooth conflict resolutions and maintaining healthy partner relationships, continued education and support for appropriate communication and interpersonal relationship skills is needed.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop descriptive metadata elements of contents of oral history records. First, the meaning of contents in transcripts and detailed interview lists, as well as the characteristics of metadata for oral history records, were examined. Second, elements related contents of domestic and international oral history metadata were compared to identify 18 elements, then streamlined 12 elements were set by removing duplicates. Third, 12 elements were compared with detailed interview lists based on transcripts of 6 interviewees who had interviews on knit business in Haebangchon. The result of this study discovered 1 additional element that designated as 'basic' and these were further categorized into 15 element of 'enhanced'. These elements are expected to contribute to expanding the scope of utilization of oral history records by supporting the structure and expression of that contents.

With taking the professional advise by interview and descriptive Questionnaires, the study suggested which governmental policies may be the mutual and proper winning strategies in internet industry, specifically between internet portal sites and content providers. Researcher kept in contact with five opinion leaders in this field and proposed thirteen candidate policies, which can give implications to the related governmental agencies, internet portals and contents providers. Some of these suggested policies may have been done and are being done conservatively in some area. But, in order to positively activate and develop the domestic digital contents industry, this study emphasized that the related agencies should perform the progressive policies and assign the financial supports to internet industry.

  • Descriptive problems can be used to grow student's ability of thinking logically and creatively, because it shows if the students had a reasonable way of thinking. Rate of descriptive problems is increasing in middle and high school exams. However, students in middle and high schools are generally used to answering multiple-choice or short-answer questions rather than describing the solving process. The purpose of this paper is to gain a theoretic ground to increase the rate of descriptive problems. In this study, students were to solve some multiple-choice problems, and after a few weeks, to solve the problems of same contents in the form of descriptive problems which requires the students to write the solving process. The difference of the scores were measured for each problems to each students, and students were asked what they think the reason for rise or fall of the score is. The result is as follows: First, average scores of 7 of 8 problems used in this study had fallen when it was in descriptive form, and for 5 of them in the rate of 11.2%~16.8%. Second, the main reason of falling is that the students have actual troubles of describing the solving process. Third, in the case of rising, the main reason was that partial scores were given in the descriptive problems. Last, there seems a possibility gender difference in the reason of falling. From these results, followings are suggested to advance the learning, teaching and evaluation in mathematics education: First, it has to be emphasized enough to describe the solving process when solving a problem. Second, increasing the rate of descriptive problems can be supported as a way to advance the evaluation. Third, descriptive problems have to be easier to solve than multiple-choice ones and it is convenient for the students to describe the solving process. Last, multiple-choice problems have to be carefully reviewed that the possibility of students' choosing incorrect answer with a small mistake is minimal.

  • Data is explosively growing, but many companies are still using data analysis only for descriptive analysis or diagnostic analysis, and not appropriately for predictive analysis or enterprise technology strategy analysis. In this study, we analyze the structured & unstructured patent data such as IPC code, inventor, filing date and so on by using big data analysis techniques such as network analysis and TF-IDF. Through this analysis, we propose analysis process to understand the core technology and technology distribution of competitors and prove it through data analysis.

  • It is often claimed that the descriptive way of documentation is insufficient to define software requirements as being unambiguous. This is caused by not only the difference of knowledge and understanding of the stakeholder as to system but also the difference in the way of documentation like method of representation as well as depth of description. The study explains the process and results of applying a diagraming tool like UML to improve the requirements of GLORY(GLObal Resource management sYstem) initially defined in descriptive way. Especially, the result shows that the requirements are more accurately improved with the good hierarchies and well-leveled functionalities, with the help of diagraming tool, expecting easy maintenance of requirements and prevention of omission of requirements.

  • Purpose: This study aims to identify factors influencing the stigma communication concerning HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus)/AIDS (Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome) patients between health and medical college students. Methods: In this descriptive study, the participants were 158 college students from a certain university. Data were collected from September 18 to September 30, 2018. Self-reported questionnaires were used to measure AIDS-related knowledge, homosexual awareness, fear of HIV/AIDS patients and stigma communication. The collected data were analyzed with descriptive statistics, an independent t-test, one way analysis of variance, Pearson's correlation and a stepwise multiple regression analysis using the SPSS 23.0 program. Results: The factors influencing the stigma communication between health and medical college students were a fear of HIV/AIDS patients (β=.47, p<.001) and homosexual awareness (β=-.15, p=.040), which together explained 28.0% of the variance in the model. Conclusion: The study findings suggest that an education program for health and medical college students should be developed. Additionally, when designing the education program, it is recommended that the contents for inducing attitude changes should include affective areas as well as knowledge-oriented contents. The study suggests that it is necessary to provide a systematic education program to decrease the stigma for HIV/AIDS patients before health care providers enter clinical practice.
