Objectives : The purpose of this report is to know the effect of Korean medicine treatments on Allergic Contact Dermatitis. Methods : We treated a 63-years-old man patient with Allergic Contact Dermatitis on the left medial calf with Korean medicine. After Korean medical treatment for 26 days, we identified a reduction in size of erythema and loss of color fading, exudates and edema. We recorded pictures of changes on symptoms. Results & Conclusions : The symptoms of Allergic Contact Dermatitis were improved. Erythema, edema, exudate were lost. Thus Korean medicine treatments are effective on allergic contact dermatitis.

Objectives : The aim of this study is to report the effect of Gagamtongchung-san and Korean medicine on the treatment of nummular eczema. Methods : A 52-year-old male had suffered from nummular eczema in forearm, dorsum manus and fossa cubitalis. We treated him with herbal medicine, acupuncture and herbal external medicine. In order to evaluate the results of these treatments, we observed pruritus and heat sensation of the patients and took photographs of the lesions. Results : After treatment, the nummular eczema lesions of patient was remarkably disappeared, NRS of pruritus and heat sensation decreased from 10 to under 2 and DLQI score changed from 28 to 9. Conclusions : According to the result, Gagamtongchung-san and Korean medicine can be effective for the treatment of nummular eczema and the improvement of quality-of-life.

Objective : The purpose of this study is to report the efficacy of using oriental medical treatment(herb-medicine, acupuncture) with Melonix Calyx Vomiting Therapy for atypical facial pain. Methods : We experienced two cases of atypical facial pain treated with oriental medical treatment(herb-medicine, acupuncture) and Melonix Calyx Vomiting Therapy(MCVT). MCVT is a traditional treatment, which induces vomiting by eating Melonix Calyx powder with water. To evaluate the results of this treatment, we used the Visual Analogue Scale(VAS) and Pain Rating Scale(PRS). Result : After using MCVT with oriental medical treatment, VAS, PRS and clinical symptoms of 2 patients were improved remarkably. Conclusion : This study suggests that using MCVT with oriental medical treatment is effective on atypical facial pain.

Objectives : This study covers the effects of burn treatments using oriental herbal medicine. Methods : The relevant literature was extensively investigated through domestic and international databases and finally 14 papers was selected. The literatures were systematically reviewed and 10 papers capable of quantitative analysis were meta-analyzed. Results : Oriental herbal medicines had a effect on reducing wound healing time, pain and the risk of infection and skin transplantation. Conclusions : We found that oriental herbal medicine was effective and safe for burn treatment.

Objectives : The purpose of this report is to know the effect of Younkyopaedok-san(連翹敗毒散), Sammulhwanggum-tang(三物黃芩湯) on eczema worsened by drug eruption and Gungguigyoae-tang(芎歸膠艾湯) on chronic eczema. Methods : We experienced one case of eczema treated with Younkyopaedok-san, Sammulhwanggum-tang and Gungguigyoae-tang. We used visual analogue scale(VAS). Results : After the treatment the grade of VAS was decreased and clinical symptoms were gradually disappeared. Conclusion : Younkyopaedok-san, Sammulhwanggum-tang and Gungguigyoae-tang had improved the signs and symptoms of eczema. 1. Younkyopaedok-san and Sammulhwanggum-tang were effective on the treatment of inflammatory eczema. 2. Gungguigyoae-tang was effective on the treatment of chronic eczema.

Objective : The purpose of this study is to analyze research trends on facial synkinesis after bell's palsy in order to build stepping stone in the hope of further related study in Korean medicine society. Methods : We searched Pubmed with the title "facial synkinesis" only developed after bell's palsy for the last 10 years and analyzed their impact factors, interventions, types of study, published countries, journals and years. Results : We found 12 papers and interventions included in each studies turned out to be effective and showed meaningful outcomes, but, the number of papers is still inadequate though, constantly published annually. And we were unable to find any studies with oriental treatments. Conclusions : Further attention and studies are needed on this topic in Korean medicine society in order to search appropriate oriental clinical care for the bell's palsy patients suffering facial synkinesis.

Objectives : The study is to report a case of acute lymphangitis with tinea pedis treated with pharmacopuncture(Bee venom, Soyeom) and Yeonkyopaedok-san. Methods : The mixed pharmacopuncture(Bee venom, Soyeom) was applied to the lesion area for 7 days, and Yeonkyopaedok-san was administered for 9 days for antibacterial and anti-inflammatory effects. Results : After treatment, the symptoms of acute lymphangitis disappeared, and the treatment duration and effect were similar to those when antibiotics were used. Conclusions : Acute lymphangitis can be treated through herbal medicines with anti-inflammatory and antibacterial effects.

Objectives : The aim of this study is to report the effect of Korean medicine treatment on diabetic retinopathy vitreous hemorrhage. Methods : A 66-year-old female who had diabetes for over 20 years showed vitreous hemorrhage of Grade 4 at initial visit. For about 2 months, acupuncture, moxibustion and herbal medicine treatment were performed. Prognosis was confirmed by funduscopic examination, automatic refractive examination and visual acuity test. Results : In the fundus photographs, we can observe the recovery of turbidity in Grade 4, which decreases to Grade 1, and the result of refraction in the right eye and visual acuity that was not measured when the turbidity is severe. Conclusions : This study was a case of a patient with diabetic retinopathy vitreous hemorrhage complaining of decreased visual acuity. Patients were given herbal medication, acupuncture and moxibustion. Through the funduscopic examination, the treatment effect on the absorption of vitreous hemorrhage was confirmed.

Objectives : The purpose of this study is to report the effect of low level laser therapy and acupuncture on hair loss. Methods : The patient with alopecia caused by bed sore and alopecia areata was treated with 29 times of laser therapy, acupuncture and took herbal medicine during about 3 months. The treatment effect was evaluated by standardized photography. Results : Hair loss had shown a marked improvement. Entire scalp had been replaced with new hairs. Conclusions : LLLT(low level laser therapy) is effective method for treating alopecia. It can shorten the length of treatment of alopecia.

Objective : The aim of this study is to report the effect of Hani-maehwa laser(fractional mode) treatment on acne scar. Methods : The patient with atrophic facial acne scars was treated with 5 sessions of laser therapy at 4-week intervals. The therapeutic response to treatment was assessed at 3 months after last laser session. The treatment effect was evaluated by standardized photography, anti aging, skin brightness and flatness. That was measured by micro fluorescence measurement camera(ECO SKIN, Cuvitz Inc.) in 16(left zygoma) and 26(right zygoma) spot. And side effects were also checked. Results : Atrophic facial acne scars have improved markedly. Anti aging, skin brightness and flatness were improved. Especially anti aging and flatness were noticeably improved. Adverse effects were not reported.Conclusions : Korean medicine cautery method applies to high level laser(CO₂ Hani-maehwa laser). These are different designs but same principle. It can be considered that laser therapy is effective method for treating acne scars.
