The Robust Derivative Code for Object Recognition

  • This paper proposes new methods, named Derivative Code (DerivativeCode) and Derivative Code Pattern (DCP), for object recognition. The discriminative derivative code is used to capture the local relationship in the input image by concatenating binary results of the mathematical derivative value. Gabor based DerivativeCode is directly used to solve the palmprint recognition problem, which achieves a much better performance than the state-of-art results on the PolyU palmprint database. A new local pattern method, named Derivative Code Pattern (DCP), is further introduced to calculate the local pattern feature based on Dervativecode for object recognition. Similar to local binary pattern (LBP), DCP can be further combined with Gabor features and modeled by spatial histogram. To evaluate the performance of DCP and Gabor-DCP, we test them on the FERET and PolyU infrared face databases, and experimental results show that the proposed method achieves a better result than LBP and some state-of-the-arts.

전자코를 이용한 홍삼 농축액의 원산지 판별을 위한 향기패턴 분석 (Analysis of Aroma Pattern for Geographical Origin of Red Ginseng Concentrated by Electronic Nose)

  • 중국산과 국내산 홍삼 농축액의 혼합비율에 따는 원산지 판별 가능성을 검토하기 위해 전자코를 이용하여 향기 패턴을 분석하였다. 중국산 홍삼 농축액과 국내산 홍삼 농축액의 원산지 판별이 가능하였고 중국산 홍삼농축액의 혼합비율이 증가할수록 검출되어지는 향기 성분의 패턴은 감소하는 경향을 나타내었다. Frequency pattern, derivative pattern을 Vapor printTM 으로 도형화 하여 비교한 결과 서로 다른 패턴을 보여주어 중국산 홍삼 농축액 첨가비율에 따른 차이는 물론 원산지의 차이도 뚜렷하게 나타났다.

  • 분말상태의 인삼속 식물들의 품종 및 원산지를 판별하기 위하여 SAW 센서가 내장된 PHGC를 이용하여 향기 패턴을 분석하였다. 한국 백삼을 1로 기준할 때 전체적인 Rt에 대한 frequency pattern의 면적비는 화기삼 $0.248{\sim}0.871$, 전칠삼 $0.030{\sim}0.674$, 중국산 백삼 $0.005{\sim}0.212$ 범위로 나타났다. 분명한 차이를 나타내는 몇 개의 특정 향기성분의 면적비를 보면 $Rt_{20.02}$에서 한국산 백삼 1일 때, 중국산 백삼 0.212, 화기삼 0.343, 전칠삼 0.065이었다. 또한 $Rt_{21.70}$$Rt_{24.90}$에서 검출되는 향기성분의 면적비도 품종간의 차이가 뚜렷하였다. 한국산 백삼과 중국산 백삼에서 검출된 Rt_26.15 향기성분의 면적비는 각각 1과 0.185로 나타나 원산지간의 차이도 분명히 나타났다. $Rt_{26.15}$의 향기성분은 화기삼과 전칠삼에서는 검출되지 않았다. Frequency pattern, derivative pattern을 Vapor $print^{TM}$을 사용하여 도형화하여 비교한 결과 한국 백삼(Korean Panax ginseng C.A. Meyer), 화기삼(미국삼, 서양삼, Panax quinquefolium L.), 전칠삼(Panax notoginseng F.H. Chen), 중국산 백삼(Chinese Panax ginseng)은 서로 다른 패턴을 보여주어 품종간의 차이는 물론 원산지의 차이도 뚜렷하게 나타났다.

3-D Reconstruction of Human Face Using the Derivative Moiré Topography

  • A new 3-D reconstruction algorithm for the human face is proposed using the derivative Moir$\acute{e}$ topography which ensures fast and robust reconstruction even for rough surfaces. The Moir$\acute{e}$ interference fringe pattern is initially obtained through the projection Moir$\acute{e}$ topography based on phase shifting, and then differentiated to provide a full unwrapped phase map for a human face. $2{\pi}$ ambiguity, which has been a chronically unsolved problem with Moir$\acute{e}$ topography, is successfully surmounted by differentiating the Moir$\acute{e}$ fringe patterns both in x- and y-directions when the object is located in the x-y plane. A real human face is used for verifying the proposed derivative Moir$\acute{e}$ topography. A human face of 4 different phase-shifted images taken in the fixed plane is almost fully reconstructed in 3-D format in 0.1 mm lateral resolution.

이차함수에서 두 변량사이의 관계 인식 및 표현의 발달 과정 분석: 민선의 경우를 중심으로 (A student's conceiving a pattern of change between two varying quantities in a quadratic functional situation and its representations: The case of Min-Seon)

  • The aim of this qualitative case study is twofold: 1) to analyze how an eleventh-grader, Min-Seon, conceive and represent a pattern of change between two varying quantities in a quadratic functional situation, and 2) further to help her form a concept of 'derivative' as a tool to express the relationship with employing a concept of 'rate of change.' The result indicates that Min-Seon was able to construct graphs of piecewise functions that take average rates of change as range of the functions, and managed to conjecture the derivative of a quadratic function, $y=x^2$. In conclusion, we argue that covariational approach could not only facilitate students' construction of an initial function concept, but also support their understanding of the concept of 'derivative.'

중풍 예방 검진에서 중풍 표준화 변증과 가속도맥파의 상관성 연구 (Clinical Study on Relationship between Pattern Identifications for Stroke and the Second Derivative of Photoplethysmogram Waveform from Stroke Preventive Examination)

  • This study was performed to find a relationship between each pattern identification and vascular status using the second derivative of photoplethysmogram waveform(SDPTG) indices. We analyzed 200 subjects who participated in stroke preventive examination. We classified the subjects into four groups of pattern identifications; Fire-Heat pattern(火熱證; FH), Yin Deficiency pattern(陰虛證; YD), Qi Deficiency pattern(氣虛證; QD) and Dampness-Phlegm pattern(濕痰證; DP) that based on Korean Standard Pattern Identifications for Stroke-Ⅲ. We studied a relationship between each pattern identification and the SDPTG. The total number of the subject group was 200, whereas the groups were divided into four groups; Fire-Heat pattern group(n=49), Yin Deficiency pattern(n=57), Qi Deficiency pattern(n=45), and Dampness-Phlegm pattern(n=49). b/a ratio was related with age and systolic blood pressure, c/a ratio was associated with age, systolic blood pressure, fasting blood sugar and Total cholesterol, d/a ratio was affected with age, diastolic blood pressure, and hypertension, e/a ratio was related with age and sex and SDPTG AI was associated with age. c/a ratio and d/a ratio were significantly higher in the Fire-Heat group than in the Qi Deficiency group. SDPTG AI was significantly higher in the Qi Deficiency group than in the Fire-Heat group. The Qi Deficiency group was significantly older than the Fire-Heat group and the number of hypertension patients was significantly more in the Fire-Heat group than in the Qi Deficiency group. Through this study, we found out some significant relationships between each pattern identification group and the SDPTG indices.

Fast Optimization by Queen-bee Evolution and Derivative Evaluation in Genetic Algorithms

  • This paper proposes a fast optimization method by combining queen-bee evolution and derivative evaluation in genetic algorithms. These two operations make it possible for genetic algorithms to focus on highly fitted individuals and rapidly evolved individuals, respectively. Even though the two operations can also increase the probability that genetic algorithms fall into premature convergence phenomenon, that can be controlled by strong mutation rates. That is, the two operations and the strong mutation strengthen exploitation and exploration of the genetic algorithms, respectively. As a result, the genetic algorithm employing queen-bee evolution and derivative evaluation finds optimum solutions more quickly than those employing one of them. This was proved by experiments with one pattern matching problem and two function optimization problems.

  • 본 논문에서는 기존의 에지 추출 알고리즘을 비교하여 알고리즘이 영상 처리 과정에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. 기존의 에지 추출 알고리즘인 Sobel, Prewitt, Roberts 등을 비교 분석 한 뒤 1차 미분 조건에 2차 미분의 단점을 보완한 에지 추출 마스크 방식을 제안한다.

국내·외 전투복의 카무플라주(Camouflage) 성능 연구 (A Study on Performance for Camouflage of Domestic and Foreign Combat Uniforms)

  • It is important to compare and analyze digital camouflage from different countries to promote the continuous development of a camouflage combat uniform. This effort should lead to developing a camouflage pattern suitable for the domestic environment and expand its performance of night camouflage. This study investigates digital camouflage by comparing camouflage fabrics sampled from Korea and eight other countries (USA, UK, Singapore, Croatia, Colombia, and Mongolia) in terms of textile, near-infrared reflectivity of colors, and color distribution. First, the fabric construction of camouflage from Korea, UK, US, Singapore, Span, and Croatia were all characterized by derivative plain weaves, while derivative twill weaves were generally used in Croatia and Mongolia. It is assumed that derivative plain weaves are adopted to improve the tearing strength of fine yarns. However, twill weaves enhance the flexibility of coarse yarn fabrics. Next, reflectivity change was analyzed based on camouflage color. The reflectivity of a combat uniform in Korea, Colombia, Croatia, and UK increased before 780nm in the visible light range, but remained consistent from 800nm which falls under the near-infrared range. In contrast, camouflage samples in Mongolia, Span, Singapore and USA showed a gradual increase of reflectivity in the near-infrared range. Finally, the color distribution analysis of digital camouflage found that camouflage of countries with desert or woodland combat settings dominantly contained brown colors. It indicates the color pattern consideration of different geographic regions is important to determine camouflage performance. This research involves basic study that will have implications for developing patterns and colors suitable for the South Korean environment and expand its use as night camouflage that helps achieve continuous improved camouflage performance.

수집약쑥의 휘발성 향기성분 패턴분석 (Pattern Analysis of volatile Components for Collected Mugwort (Artemisia spp.))

  • 약쑥의 식물종 판별을 위해 SAW센서가 부착된 GC로 구축된 시스템을 이용하여 휘발성 성분을 분석하였다. 사용된 재료는 별도의 전처리 과정없이 분석되어 15초 이내에 분석된 크로마토그램을 $VaporPrint^{TM}$ 이미지 소프트웨어를 사용하여 패턴화 하였으며 패턴인식을 통하여 비교한 결과, 싸주아리쑥과 사자발쑥, 인진쑥의 패턴 차이를 조사하였다. 1. 싸주아리쑥, 사자발쑥, 인진쑥의 휘발성분의 분석을 통해 polar derivative패턴이 확연히 차이가 있음을 확인할 수 있었다. 따라서 용매추출과 같은 복잡하고 시간이 오래 걸리는 전처리의 과정없이 20초간의 Vapor성분 분석만으로도 쑥의 종류를 구분할 수 있었다. 2.쑥의 보존기간별 향의 변화를 측정해 본 결과, 수확당년의 시료에 비해 해가 갈수록 성분들의 양이 줄어듦이 확인되었고 2년 이후의 시료들에서는 그 변화가 적음을 알 수 있었다. 그러나 4분대의 특정향기성분의 경우에는 오히려 그 양이 증가함을 볼 수 있었다.
