This study aimed to examine emo fashion, a very recent music-related fashion trend spreading fast amongst youths, and understand emo ideas and methods of expression for a greater understanding of contemporary youth sub-cultures and fashion trends. Documentary research, positive research and in-depth interviews were used throughout the study. 4 Korean emo bands and 4 U.S. emo bands were selected based on music chart rankings, and a total of 37 photographs from the bands' Internet websites were selected, and their clothes shown in the photographs were examined. 5 Korean emo band musicians were subjects of in-depth interviews, and they were asked about their emo culture, music, fashion, ideas and styles, and photographs were taken of the subjects and evaluated, too. Lastly, Korean and U.S. emo kids were studied through photographs, and comparatively analyzed. Both Korean and U.S. emo musicians wore slim silhouettes, skinny jeans, t-shirts, sneakers, black, studded belts and plastic-framed glasses. Korean fashion expressed a less depressive atmosphere with color and other details compared to the United States, and did not prefer dark black eye make-up, which United States emo style appeared to express frequently. Korean musicians' emo fashion was closer to other youth fashions, whereas U.S. emo fashion included more formal styles such as ruffled shirts and pin-striped vests. Korean emo kids wore clothes not much different from most Korean youths, but U.S. emo kids wore a lot of eye make-up and black t-shirts with graphic or skull prints, and had more geometrical hair styles, as if cut at home. The reasons for such differences were found to be a longer emo music and culture history in the United States leading to more elaborate fashion expressions and a difference in the states of mind, such as Korea pursuing to express love, and the United States pursuing loneliness.
The present study is to develop the hydrologic analysis procedure for the purpose of drawing the probable isohyetal charts in Korea. In the establishment of optimal distribution types, the eleven continuous probability distribution types included the transformed variable normal distribution (Y-k method) is applied to the annual maximum rainfall depth series in each duration. The optimal selection of distribution is done by Chi-square test and Kolmogorov-Smirnov test in the eui-class interval. The application of probability distribution is checked by the fitting on four durations of annual maximum rainfall data(10 min., 60 min., 6 hrs., and 24hrs.) at four meteorological stations in Korea (Seoul, In Cheon, Bu san, and Kwang Ju). The properties in hydrologic application of the considered distribution and the hydrologic characteristics of the applied rainfall data groups are investigated from the results of this study.

This paper describes on the evaluation and management of work process in suction hopper dredger and grab bucket dredger as an application of a PC-based ECDIS system. The dynamic tracking of dredging bucket and the data logging of grab dredging information were performed by using the grab dredging vessel "Kunwoong G-18". The position and route tracking of the dredger moving toward the ocean dumping site of dredged material was performed by using the hopper dredging vessel "Samyang-7". The evaluation of wok process in the dredging field, for grab dredger, was continuously carried out on January to May, 2006, in Incheon Hang and for hopper dredger, on July to December, 2003, in Busan Hang, Korea. The dredging information, such as dredger's position, heading, dredging depth and route track which was individually time stamped during the dredging operation, was automatically processed in real-time on the ECDIS and displayed simultaneously on the S-57 ENC chart. From these results, we conclude that the ECDIS system can be applied as a tool in order to manage the work process during the dredging operation, and also in order to generate the factual record of the dredging activities that is sufficient for dredging inspector to accurately evaluate the contract performance even in the absence of a full-time onboard inspector.

The integrated navigation system(INS) for fishing boat which organized the marine radar, global positioning system(GPS) compass, automatic identification system(AIS), echo sounder, GPS and electronic nautical chart(ENC) was manufactured to reduce the marine accidents of fishing boats occurred frequently at coastal and offshore. The application possibility of INS for fishing boat was examined for basic experiments in the sea. Integration display of various information, such as other vessel's behavior, depth, own vessel's position etc. was done to help the operate user who understood the circumstance around own boat. Therefore, the system will be utilized as a useful equipment for safety voyage and fishing work on the fishing ground.
Applying the numerical scheme developed by Semtner (1974), we investigate the circulation system in the Japan Sea in response to the air-sea interaction and the wind. In spite of blocking straits, resulting surface circulation pattern is similar to the schematic surface current chart introduced by Uda(1934) and Naganuma (1972); the northward flow along the Korean coast and the anticlockwise gyre in the northeastern part of the Japan Sea. Also the southward current flows along the Korean coast at depth of 100-200 m as similar to the North Korean Cold Current suggested by Kim and Kim (1983). And the sinking phenomenon of relatively saline water in the northeastern part of the Japan Sea is similar to the formation of the Japan Sea Proper Water.
Road subsidence, frequently occurring in urban areas, is caused by collapsing of surface layer due to underground cavities followed by a loss of soils. To better understand this phenomenon, the mechanism of cavity formation should be identified firstly. Two kinds of possible subsidence mechanisms were established through previous case studies and the numerical analyses based on Distinct Element Method were conducted for each of these mechanisms. It was confirmed that particle loss and surface settlement can develop differently depending on slit size, void ratio, and particle shape among the various factors influencing the road subsidence. The result demonstrated that the effects of varying cavity diameter and depth could be quantified as a damage chart.

We explored a method to evaluate imaging performance for the optimal assembly of an endoscopic miniature lens and a sensor constituting an imaging module at the distal end of gastrointestinal endoscopy. For the assembly of the imaging module, the image sensor was precisely located at the focal plane when collimated light passed through the endoscopic lens. As another method, the distance between the lens and sensor was adjusted to obtain the highest focus index from images measured the star chart of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) standard at various positions. We analyzed the slanted-edge modulation transfer function (MTF), corresponding depth of field, and number of line pairs for MTF 50% and 20% at each working distance within the range of 5-100 mm for imaging modules assembled in different ways. Assembly conditions of the imaging module with better MTF performance were defined for each working distance range of 5-30 mm and 30-100 mm, respectively. In addition to the MTF performance, the focus index of each assembled module was also compared. In summary, we examined the performance of imaging modules assembled with different methods within the suggested working distance and tried to establish the optimal assembly protocol.

This study was conducted to develop the effects of site environmental factors on estimation of site index function for Chamaecyparis obtusa Endlicher stands. We derived nonlinear growth equation and the draw site index curves by applying this estimated equation. This study with Chapman-Richards function showed significant P-value which was less then 0.0001 and $R^2$ value 0.5947. This study was conducted to develop the feasible site index equation of Chamaecyparis obtusa Endlicher. For the table, the data of 82 sample areas that were thought to be without errors among the data of Chamaecyparis obtusa Endlicher sample area located on the value-oriented forest location chart were used and estimated. After analyzing the quantification method I based on 13 environmental factors to develop the score table for the site-index estimation of Chamaecyparis obtusa Endlicher, $R^2$ value of the model was 0.7555. It has been analyzed that the scope value of Soil moisture in horizon A was 7.5045, that of total soil depth was 6.3896, that of topography was 5.3471, that of slope was 4.7000 and that of aspect was 3.2038. After analyzing the partial correlation to examine the factors that affected most the site-index of Chamaecyparis obtusa Endlicher, it has been noted that the partial correlation of climatic zone was 0.4987, which was highest, and it was followed by Soil moisture in horizon A (0.4592), slope (0.4537), topography (0.3299) and total soil depth (0.1035). As a result of conducting the significance test for partial correlation, it has been found that topography, climatic zone, parent rock, slope, altitude, aspect, Soil moisture in horizon A, soil hardness in horizon A and total soil depth were recognized significant with 1% of significance level and sedimentary type and soil texture in horizon A were recognized significant with 5% of significance level.
A study was undertaken to investigate the distribution of Streptomyces spp. in soil in Korea. Among the different types of soil surveyed, the highest population of Streptomyces spp. recording $5.6{\times}10^5\;CFU/g$ was observed in upland soil. With reference to the soil depth, most of their population was distributed from soil surface to 5cm depth and the highest value was found in $0{\sim}2cm$ soil depth. Comparing the population of Streptomyces spp. with different soil color (by Munsell soil color chart), the highest value of $9.2{\times}10^\;CFU/g$ was showed in Oliver yellow soil (2.5Y, 6/4). On the basis of the acidity of soil samples subjected to Streptomyces spp. isolation, it is considered that the optimum pH range for Streptomyces spp. in soil lies between 6.0 to 7.5, showing the highest value of $1.05{\times}10^6CFU/g$ at pH 7.5. Among the colors of isolated colonies, gray and white colonies occupied 60% and 26% of the total isolates respectively.
We surveyed the distribution of soil layers on Dongdo and Seodo of Dokdo and measured the physical properties of the soils. To investigate the distribution of soil layers, the soil depth was measured directly in accessible locations, and visual observations of inaccessible locations were carried out using drones and boats. Soil depths ranged from 3 to 50 cm, and most soil layers had depths of 10~20 cm. Based on these results, a map of the soil layer was drawn using 5 cm intervals for soil depth. To analyze the soil characteristics of Dokdo, soil samples were collected from 13 locations on Dongdo and 13 locations on Seodo, in consideration of various geological settings. According to the results of grain size distribution tests, sand contents were >75%, and soil from Seodo contained more gravel-sized particles than that from Dongdo. Using the unified soil classification system (USCS) and textural classification chart of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), most of the soil samples from Dokdo are classified as sand, and some are classified as loamy or clayey sand. In addition, well-graded loamy or clayey sands are more common in Dongdo, and poorly graded sands with gravel are more common in Seodo. These results are expected to be important for studying soil characteristics on Dokdo.
