Primary school is regarded as an important period when many health-related behaviors and life-styles begin to be formed. Acquiring them through school heath education has a strong influence on the health promotion of not only the family but also the community. The objectives of this study were to evaluate current oral health care of elementary schools in Chungnam province and to provide information for further development in elementary school oral health. We performed a questionnaire survey to 280 health teachers and among them, 155 teachers answered. The result of this study were as follows: 1. Sixty five percent of the health teachers had little interest in oral health. Major information sources for teaching oral health were books in 58.1% of the 155 teachers and 83.2% of teachers spent 30 minutes to 1hour per day in oral health care practice for the students. 2. Contents of the oral health education were composed of regular and special curriculums, and an average of education time during a semester was 2.6 hours in 3rd grade, and 1.3 hours in first and second grade. 60.6% of the teachers made the children practice the proper method of tooth brushing during the education time. 3. Major problems in oral health education were insufficient time, lack of equipment and difficulty in teaching method. The educational media were tooth models among 91.0% and OHP among 85.2% of the teachers. The tooth model was usually used in first to fourth grades and OHP in fifth to sixth grades. But 63.9% health teachers need to develop stronger educational methods using multimedia. 4. Meanwhile the most important strategy of oral health in urban schools was health education, that of rural schools was fluoride mouth-rinsing programme. Fluoride mouth-rinsing programmes were performed by 60.0% of the elementary school. Periodic dental examination was performed in all elementary schools. 98.2% of the schools sent the results home through school notification letters, but post-examination management was performed in only 67.1% of them 64.5% of the health teachers do follow-ups on the oral disease of the children after the examination. Only 0.7% of the schools have oral health education plans for the students' parents. Considering these major strategies for elementary school oral health care were health education, practicing proper methods of tooth brushing, periodic dental examinations, and fluoride mouth-rinsing programmes. But health teachers need more time for oral health education, practicing and management, and developing education materials. With regard to the high demand for oral health education and poor follow-up after periodic examination, the oral health education in elementary school should be considered as a formal educational course for more proper management of oral health, including application of major strategies to the children in earlier grades and efforts for increasing recognition and participation of the parents.
The purpose of this study was undertaken to determine the health interests by middle school students in Soo-Dong Myun. It was planned that this data would help nursing help students who is under the community health nursing pratice in Soo-Dong, and development of health education programmes. The instrument used which was orginially the Health Interest Inventory by Ramsdell, was modified. This study involed 358 students ranging from 1 st year to 3 rd year and was carried out from September 1 to 30, 1979. The results obtained as follows ; 1. Orbital blowout fractures are common consequence to blunt periorbital trauma. Pure orbital blowout fractures first occur at the weakest point of the orbital wall. Computed tomography(CT) is recognized to be the best imaging technique to evaluate orbital fractures. The extent and location of a blowout fractures in the CT scan were noted to have an effect on the clinical outcome. In the early posttraumatic period, the presence of significant enophthalmos is difficult to detect because of orbital edema. Early surgical intervention may improve the ultimate outcome because open reconstruction becomes more difficult if surgery is delayed. In this study, we evaluated isolated blowout fractures of the orbital floor by region-of-interest measurements from CT scans and their relationship to ophthalmologic findings. Six patients of the medial orbital wall fractures, eleven patients of the inferior orbital wall fractures, nineteen of the medial and the inferior orbital wall fractures confirmed by CT scan, were evaluated. The area of fracture and the volume of the displaced orbital tissue were determined from CT scan using linear measurements. Each of the calculated values for the area and the volume were compared with the degree of the enophthalmos, the diplopia, and the eyeball movement limitation to determine whether there was any significant relationship between them. The fracture area and the volume of the herniated orbital tissue were significantly positively correlated with the enophthalmos and the ocular motility limitation and not correlated with the diplopia. For the enophthalmos of 2mm or greater, the mean fracture area was 3.55{\pm}1.25cm^2$ and the volume of the herniated orbital tissue was $1.74{\pm}0.97cm^3$; for less than 2mm enophthalmos, $1.43{\pm}0.99cm^3$ and $0.52{\pm}0.49cm^3$, respectively. The enophthalmos of 2mm can be expected with $2.92cm^2$ of the fracture area and $1.40cm^3$ of the herniated orbital tissue. In conclusion, the enophthalmos of 2mm or more, which is a frequent indication for surgery. It can be expected when area of fracture is $2.92cm^2$ or more, or the volume of herniated orbital tissue is $1.40cm^3$ or more. And the CT scan using linear measurements has an application in the assessment of patients with blowout fractures and provides useful information in the posttraumatic evaluation of orbital fractures.
Plant extract has attracted considerable interest in oral disease therapy. The present study was performed to observe the antibacterial effect on cariogenic Streptococcus mutans GS5 and Streptococcus sobrinus 6715, and periodontopathic Actinobacillus actinomycetemcomitans Y4 of phytoncide from Chamaecyparis obtusa Sieb. et Zucc employing the measurement of optical density, viable cell counts, and antibiotic sensitivity. The results were as follows: 1. Minimum inhibitory concentration of the phytoncide for S. mutans, S. sobrinus, and A. actinomycetemcomitans was observed to be 0.5%, 1%, and 0.2%, respectively. 2. Minimum bactericidal concentration of the phytoncide for S. mutans, S. sobrinus, and A. actinomycetemcomitans was determined to be 0.5%, 2%, and 0.2%, respectively. 3. The bacteria exposed to the phytoncide become more sensitive to antibiotics. The phytoncide enhanced significantly antibacterial activity of ampicillin against S. mutans and S. sobrinus. It also increased significantly the activity of penicillin and amoxicillin against S. sobrinus. In contrast, the phytoncide augmented the activity of amoxicillin and cefotaxime against A. actinomycetemcomitans but the increase was not statistically significant. The overall results indicate that phytoncide from Chamaecyparis obtusa Sieb. et Zucc used for this study has a strong antibacterial activity against cariogenic and periodontopathic bacteria and that it also has permeabilizing effect on certain antibiotics against these bacteria. Therefore, the phytoncide may be used as a candidate for prevention and therapeutic agent against oral infectious disease including dental caries and periodontal disease.
Recently, the interest in the orthodontic treatment for children is increased by a rise in national income level. The number of cephalometric radiography that could diagnose a malocclusion and malposition between teeth and jawbone increased. It required attention to radiation exposure, because the subject of dental examination is children which are more sensitive to radiation and the head and neck, the object of that include radiation sensitive organ such as the thyroid, bone marrow, eyes, salivary gland, and so on. In this study, we measured two-dimensional dose distribution in cephalometric radiography system (VATEC Pax-400C) using Agfa CP-G Plus film and MagicMax Dosimeter, and calculated radiation organ dose of head and neck through MCNPX simulation. And then we designed a radiation protective device to decrease radiation dose. The dose distribution of the cephalometric radiography system irradiated the head and neck overall as well as the oral and maxillofacial parts. The radiation organ dose calculated that thyroid, oesophagus and eyes are irradiated high, and the radiation organ dose decreased about 70 ~ 80% by the application of the radiation protective device. The results of this study will be used construction of database for dental radiation exposure and research of reducing radiation dose.
Statement of problem. Among the physical properties of adhesion luting cement, the aspect that requires the most important factor is the degree of solubility and water sorption. Dissolution or an inadequate due to excessive water sorption inside the oral cavity compromises the while concurrently increasing the susceptibility to secondary dental caries. Susceptibility to dissolution and difficulty of removing remnant cement from the gingival sulcus have hindered the use of dental resin cement in the clinical practice, but the improved characteristics of newer generation resin cements have interest in and enabled resin cements to be widely used in adhesion of fixed prosthesis, such as laminate veneers and all-ceramic crowns. Purpose. The purpose of this study is to compare and analyze the degrees of solubility and water sorption of a variety of resin cements widely used for clinical purposes with different curing methods. Material and methods. Self-curing resin cements, $Avanto^{(R)}$, $C&B^{TM}$ CEMENT and Superbond C&B cements comprised group 1, 2 and 3. The dual-curing resin cements $Panavian^{TM}$ F, $Calibra^{(R)}$ and $Variolink^{(R)}$ II were divided into groups 4, 5, and 6, respectively. The investigation was carried out using disc-shaped specimens as specified by ANSI/ADA Specification No. 27. The degree of water sorption, water solubility and lactic acid solubility of each test group was analyzed statistically leading to the following conclusion. Results. The degree of water sorption was shown to increase in the following order : group 6, 5, 4, 2, 1 and 3. There were significant differences between the water sorption of each group. Results of the degree of water solubility were shown to increase in the following order : group 6, 5, 4, 2, 1 and 3. Statistically significant differences were found between each group, with the exception of groups 1 and 3. Finally, the degree of lactic acid solubility was found to increase in the following order : group 6,5,4,2,3 and 1. Significant differences were found between each group. In general dual-curing resin cements displayed substantially lower values than self-curing resin cements with regard to water sorption, water solubility, and lactic acid solubility. Conclusions. From the results of this study, dual-curing resin cements show a significantly lower degree of water sorption and solubility than their self-curing counterparts. Clinically, when selecting resin cements, the product with a lower degree of water sorption and solubility are preferred. The results of this study indicate that the use-of dual-curing resin cements is preferable to self-curing cements.

This study aims to determine potential differences in self-perceived oral health levels between blue-collar and white-collar workers. It is based upon questionnaire survey data dating from Mar. 1 to 30, 2011. All the data collected from 200 blue-collar workers and 100 white-collar worker was analyzed using statistical tools like SPSS ver. 19.0. Self-perceived oral health levels were analysed across three sub-factors - physical, psycho-social, and psychological factors - which were confirmed through factor analysis. The psycho-social factor was statistically significant for age and shift work. Self-perceived oral health levels across the three factors were quantitatively correlated except for psychological factors in blue-collar workers. The study found that occupational group affects workers' self-perceived oral health level. The explanatory power of these 4 variables total 51% in blue-collar group. In case of white-collar group, it was found one variable total 30%. Since oral health levels differ between blue-collar and white-collar workers, oral health promotion projects should differentiate between the two groups, and workers with an interest in their tooth for the prevention, yet negligent act because it will keep your personal oral health care in the prevention-oriented oral health promotion.
The purpose of this study was to be used as basic data for the development of future-type curriculum in health. The awareness and preparation of the forth industrial revolution were surveyed on 280 college students in health departments preparing medical technicians. A self-written structured questionnaire was used for data collection, and the recognition of the forth industry revolution was 2.74, 3D printing (3.59) was high, and neural network machine learning(2.33) was the lowest. Students majoring in Physiotherapy (3.00) had the highest perception, and those majored in Dental engineering(2.37) had the lowest perception, and there was a difference in the degree of perception of IoT by major (p=0.024). For the forth industrial revolution, 54.5% of students are preparing, and lack of interest (42.9%) is the most difficult reason to prepare, and 50.6% of educational experience and 60.9% of VR&AR game experience have experience. In the era of the forth industrial revolution, job loss (38.7%) was high, and the required competency was creative capacity (50.6%). Therefore, it is necessary to develop a curriculum related to the fourth industrial revolution and apply teaching methods that can increase the awareness and preparation of health college students in the era of the fourth industrial revolution.
