The purpose of this study was to examine how clients who visited dental institutions perceived client services, what sorts of client services were provided to them and to what extent they were satisfied with them. It's ultimately meant to seek ways to enhance and enlarge client services. A survey was conducted on 379 residents who used dental institutions in Seoul and Gyeonggi provinces, and the findings of this study were as follows: 1. 64.6 percent of the people investigated weren't aware of client services, and 33.0 percent viewed them as part of medical services. 77.5 percent had grievances about dental institutions they'd ever used. 2. The biggest complaint was that the dental treatments they received weren't covered by the dental insurance. As for how to solve their grievances, the largest group of them told the employees of the dental institutions about their complaints or didn't use them again. When asked whether the dental institutions took any steps to get rid of their grievances, the greatest group replied they had no idea. and the second largest group answered they took no measure. 3. By age and educational level, those who were in their 60s and up and stopped at elementary school were best cognizant of client services. Among client service variables, they were most satisfied with how the employees handled their complaints, and as to overall satisfaction, their willingness to revisit ranked highest. 4. Concerning connections among client service awareness, service variables and overall satisfaction level, their awareness of client services had a positive correlational relationship with every service variable and satisfaction level. Among the service variables, prompt client services and employee attitude were positively correlated to overall satisfaction level, but service procedure, facilities and information services exercised little impact on that. 5. As for what factors affected their content with client services, their client service awareness was identified as one of the important factors to influence their use of dental institutions, the outcome of their visit and their willingness to revisit. The above-mentioned findings suggested that dental institutions should strengthen publicity activities to inform people of client services, and encourage them to express their grievances. In addition, they should take an immediate action to remove their complaints, and try to get a successful feedback to offer higher-quality medical services and customer-oriented services.

The awareness of nursing bottle caries was highest in infants aged over 37 months 58.7%, and next, in 13~24 months 57.9% and in 25~36 months 54.8%, and lowest in infants younger than 13 months 33.3%, suggesting the necessity of education on nursing bottle caries(p=0.423). 3. As to the time of the first visit to dental clinic, 50.0% of infants younger than 13 months, 52.6% of those aged 13~24 months, and 49.3% of those aged 25~36 months replied the completion of the eruption of primary teeth, and 36.5% of those aged over 37 months replied the occurrence of dental caries. Thus, the motives for visiting dental clinic were different among the age groups, and the differences were statistically significant(p=0.005). 4. The age of toothbrushing to be started by mother's opinion was 6 months in 0.5%, 12 months in 68.8%, 18 months in 22.9%, 24 months in 5.9%, and 25 months in 1.0%, and no statistically significant difference was observed according to age. 5. The number of toothbrushing was usually once a day after meal. and increased by in age was shown statistically significantly difference(p=0.035). 6. The most frequent method of preventing nursing bottle caries was regular toothbrushing in all the age groups, and next restriction of sugar intake, regular dental consultation, and fluoridation in order The most effective prevention of dental caries was regular visit to dental clinic and next, toothbrushing after meal.
This study is designed to take a look at college women's understanding of the actual condition of their smoking and the harmfulness of their smoking, to make an analysis of smoking factors affecting oral health and to present basic materials for the development of oral health education programs. Self-administered questionnaires were given to the subjects from May 22 through June 2, 2003. The results were as follows. 1. 71.7 percent of the subjects said that they had no experience. 16.7 percent of them said that they had had experience. 11.6 percent of them said that they are now smoking. The oftener they don't live with their parents, the more monthly money they had, the more smoking experience they had(p<0.001). 2. 37.4 percent of the subjects said that they brush their teeth three times a day. And 52.2 percent of them said that they brush their teeth after smoking. 3. The rate of using dental floss and interdental brushes accounts for 46.5%, and the ratio of having tartar scaled from their teeth accounts for 45.5%. There was no significant difference in accordance with smoking or nonsmoking. 4. The subjects with no smoking experience(76.0%) thought that they had better teeth condition than their counterparts(64.3%). But there was no significant difference. 5. 56.5 percent of the subjects responded that their dental condition was related to their smoking, but 43.5 percent of them said that it was not.
In pediatric dentistry, sedation therapy is one of methods for managing children's behavior, and various types of sedation therapy are being used. Thus, this study surveyed the awareness of and satisfaction with sedation therapy in 204 parents who visited the Pediatric Dentistry using a self-administered questionnaire during the period from June to December 2008 in order to get information necessary in behavior management for pediatric patients, and obtained results as follows. 1. The most common path of learning about sedation therapy was dentistry (49.5%), and the most common reason for choosing sedation therapy was 'The child was young'(42.3%), which was followed by 'The child is too afraid'(18.8%), 'There are many teeth to be treated'(16.0%), 'To adjust the number of visits'(11.3%), and 'For behavior management'(3.1%). 2. Most of the parents felt anxiety about sedation therapy, and the reasons for the anxiety were 'The child was young'(33.0%), 'Worry about side effects'(31.3%), 'Worry about recovery of consciousness'(25.7%), 'Worry about the blunting of intellectual abilities'(7.6%), and others (2.4%). 3. Satisfaction with sedation therapy was higher in men than in women, and was high in order of 'Stationing of an anesthetist', 'One time completion of treatment', and 'Cautions'. Statistically significant difference was observed between men and women only in question "Have you ever heard about sedation therapy?"(p=0.018). 4. According to age, satisfaction with sedation therapy was highest in parents whose child was less than 48 months old. Satisfaction was high in order of 'Stationing of an anesthetist', 'One time completion of treatment', and 'Cautions', 'Choice of sedation therapy', and statistically significant difference was observed according to age only in question "Have you ever heard about sedation therapy?"(P=0.005). 5. Positive correlation was observed among questions on satisfaction with sedation therapy. In the survey on the awareness of and satisfaction with sedation therapy in parents visiting the dentistry, awareness and satisfaction were generally high with regard to the parents' choice of sedation therapy, but many of the parents answered that they chose sedation therapy and felt anxiety because their child was young. The results of this study need to be considered for behavior management in pediatric dentistry and there should be systematic education and promotion of sedation therapy.
This study was conducted to examine the oral health awareness, needs of dental treatment and the oral and maxillofacial pains targeting pneumoconiosis patients of care hospitals for the purpose of providing basic data for preparing a plan to improve the oral health of patients plagued with pneumoconiosis. As the subjects of survey, total 120 patients who have agreed to the research among the patients of three care hospitals, were enrolled between March and July in 2015. As the result of the study on the factors that influence the oral health perception, it was verified that the persons of an average monthly income of 2 million won or more, were shown to have significantly better oral health awareness than the subjects of monthly earning of less than 2 million won (p<0.05), thus showing that the oral health awareness by the people of monthly income of more than 2 million won, was 0.77 times higher compared to the others. Therefore, in order to improve the oral health awareness of pneumoconiosis patients, the economic stability of the patients should be taken into account as a priority when examining the oral health policy decisions and it was recommended that the survey and research on the oral health of patients with pneumoconiosis can be done in amore systematic manner.
