In the present work the knowledge of dental health as well as dental prosthesis has been studied on the basis of analysis of current dental prosthetic treatments for dental diseases prophylaxis and the final decision for dental prosthetic appliance. The results have been analyzed by the current dental health care and the subjective acknowledgement from 700 people of urban as well as rural inhabitance in our country. The results from the present work have been summarized as following: Depending dental status has been shown worse to be in the cases of divorce and bereavement, age and less educated or jobless. It is also interesting to note that the dental status has shown to be even worse than health status. It has been shown that the dental prosthetic treatments have been mainly caused by the oral disease (62.2%) and depend on the age and the educational level. According to the actual status of dental prosthetic treatments, the fixed partial denture was the most case (78.9%) that increased as divorced, bereavement and as less educated, less income, retired and jobless as well as from urban to rural. As a clinic for the dental prosthetic treatments, dental clinics have been most frequent visited as indicated by 59.6%, then the un-licensed dentist (6.5%), then the hospitals (3.7%), then the public health centers (2.2%). Most of those who are older in age, less educated and jobless have been treated by the un-licensed dentists. In point of view on the cost for dental prosthetic treatments, 93.1% have claimed to be too expensive, in as the divorced and the bereaved, the older age, the less educated and the jobless. About satisfaction of dental prosthetic treatments, 51.4% was satisfied, 39.4% was normal and 9.2% was dissatisfied. Most of people experienced increasing levels of satisfaction as their income increase. Most in the age range of 40-60 have wanted to be insured for the dental prosthetic treatments. It is also interesting to note that the older age and the less educated wanted to apply this kind of insurance.
Objectives : This purpose of this study was to examine worker's Dental care utilization patterns and its related factors, to prepare basic data for oral health promotion of workers. Methods : The study subject were 1016 industrial workers from7 working places in Gyung-Sang-Buk Do and Daegu-City. Data for this study was obtained by self-administrated questionnaire. The questionnaire consists of general characteristics, yes or no of dental care utilization before six month, purpose of visit, yes or no of dental disease form the results of dental examination screening before one years, yes or no of and patterns dental care utilization of workers with dental disease, etc. The data was utilized using frequency test and $x^2-test$. Results : Rate of dental care utilization was 40% within six month last, among the general characteristics, it were statistically significant that higher age, married state, bad oral health state, high Work period. Rate of dental disease as a result of their dental examination last was 53.1% among the general characteristics, it were statistically significant that enough economic state, bad oral health state, blue collar work type. Dental care utilization's rate of dental disease as a result of their dental examination last was 48.6% among the general characteristics, it were statistically significant that Enough economic state, higher age, married state, high Work period. Conclusions : In order to promote workers of abnormal opinions to take the medical treatment on their dental diseases later dental examination, it is necessary to educate them consistently for the importance of early medical treatment.
Objectives: Oral diseases can be prevented, and early treatment through dental checkups is important. This study was investigated the relationship between dental checkups and unmet dental care needs in Korean adults. Methods: From the data of the 7th Korean national health and nutrition survey (2016-2017), the final 9,300 of the 16,277 participants selected as the method for extracting stratified colonies by complex sample design. A structured questionnaire interview was used, and chi-square test and multiple logistic regression analysis were performed. Results: The relationship between dental checkups and unmet dental care needs for the last one year was analyzed by controlling demographic characteristics, variables related to health conditions, and "use of dental clinics for the last year." The unmet dental care needs were 7.57 times higher (CI: 6.49-8.83) for non-users of dental clinics for 1 year, and 1.32 times (CI: 1.13-1.54) for dental checkups for 1 year compared to non-dental checkups patients. Conclusions: As described above, there was a close relationship between adult dental checkups and unmet dental care needs. Therefore, it is suggested that it is necessary to expand educational publicity and prepare policy strategies such as visiting dental checkups to improve the adult dental checkups.

1) Objective ${\lceil}Wai-Tai-Mi-Yao{\rfloor}$ had been made by Wang-Dao(王燾) in Tang Dynasty(唐朝). It included fumigation therapy and aroma therapy. Therefore we would like to bring out use sphere and detailed method of Fumigation therapy and Aroma therapy in Tang Dynasty and before period. 2) Conclusions (1) Fumigation therapies of ${\lceil}Wai-Tai-Mi-Yao{\rfloor}$ have contained boil and burn. The effects of fumigation therapy are made by cooperation effect of medicine and heat. (2) Aroma therapies of ${\lceil}Wai-Tai-Mi-Yao{\rfloor}$ have been used to cure infectious, internal, psychologic, dental, pediatric, dermatologic and surgical diseases. Especially these therapies have a good effect on cough. (4) Aroma therapies of ${\lceil}Wai-Tai-Mi-Yao{\rfloor}$ have been used to cure infectious, internal, psychologic, dental, ophthalmic, otolaryngologic, obstetrics, gynecologic, dermatologic and surgical diseases. Expecially this therapy has an good effect on nightmare.
The periodontal diseases are infections caused by bacteria in oral biofilm, a gelatinous mat commonly called dental plaque, which is a complex microbial community that forms and adhere to tooth surfaces. Host immune-pathogen interaction in periodontal disease appears to be a complex process, which is regulated not only by the acquired immunity to deal with ever-growing and -invading microorganisms in periodontal pockets, but also by genetic and/or environmental factors. However, our understanding of the pathogenesis in human periodontal diseases is limited by the lack of specific and sensitive tools or models to study the complex microbial challenges and their interactions with the host's immune system. Recent advances in cellular and molecular biology research have demonstrated the importance of the acquired immune system in fighting the virulent periodontal pathogens and in protecting the host from developing further devastating conditions in periodontal infections. The use of genetic knockout and immunodeficient mouse strains has shown that the acquired immune response, in particular, $CD4^+$ T-cells plays a pivotal role in controlling the ongoing infection, the immune/inflammatory responses, and the subsequent host's tissue destruction.
Necrotizing fasciitis (NF) is defined as rapidly progressive necrosis of subcutaneous fat and fascia. Although NF of the face is rare, its mortality rate is nearly 30%. It usually originates from dental infection and can lead to involvement of the neck, mediastinum, and chest wall. Complications resulting from pre-existing systemic diseases can increase the mortality rate. Known complication factors for NF include diabetes, malnutrition, advanced age, peripheral vascular disease, renal failure, and obesity. Here, we report a case of NF originating from dental infection in an 88-year-old woman already diagnosed with hypertension, thoracic aortic aneurysm, and renal diseases. Such conditions limited adequate surgical and antibiotic treatment. However, interdisciplinary treatment involving multiple departments was implemented with good results.
Molecular mimicry is an attractive mechanism for triggering autoimmunity. In this review, we explore the potential role of evolutionary conserved bacterial proteins in the production of autoantibodies with focus on granulomatosis with polyangiitis (GPA) and rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Seven autoantigens characterized in GPA and RA were BLASTed against a bacterial protein database. Of the seven autoantigens, proteinase 3, type II collagen, binding immunoglobulin protein, glucose-6-phosphate isomerase, ${\alpha}$-enolase, and heterogeneous nuclear ribonuclear protein have well-conserved bacterial orthologs. Importantly, those bacterial orthologs are also found in human-associated bacteria. The wide distribution of the highly conserved stress proteins or enzymes among the members of the normal flora and common infectious microorganisms raises a new question on how cross-reactive autoantibodies are not produced during the immune response to these bacteria in most healthy people. Understanding the mechanisms that deselect auto-reactive B cell clones during the germinal center reaction to homologous foreign antigens may provide a novel strategy to treat autoimmune diseases.
This study is proposed to analyze statistically the causes of extraction of permanent teeth among outpatients who visited our dental department of Sung-Sim Hospital, Chung-Ang University from Jan. 29th 1979 to Nov. 30th 1980. the results are as follows. 1. The group of patients aged 25-34 had more number of extracted teeth than any other age group. 2. It was found that woman's (0.13) was more than man's(0.9) in average number of extracted teeth per patient. 3. In analyzing the causes of extraction, it was identified as caries 37.5%, periodontal diseases 27.2%, wisdom teeth 17.6%, for orthodontic treatment and impacted supernumerary teeth and others 8.0% trauma and fracture 4.2%. 4. The primary cause of extraction was found to be changed from caries to periodontal diseases according to the increase of age. 5. The number of teeth that were extracted by trauma was found that man's (38) was more than twice as much as woman's (17) and the group of patients aged 35-44 had the most number of all age groups.
Objectives : This study was examine a relationship those variables with health-related quality(HRQOL) of life in the elderly and provide basic information on HRQOL and evidence for establishing effective health policies for old ages ultimately. Methods : This research was conducted through individual interviews using a structured questionnaire and oral status examinations of 600 residents The data have been analyzed using $X^2$-test through PASW Statistics 18.0.0(SPSS Korea Datasolution Inc.) and Structural Equation Modeling through LISREL ver8.8. Results : According to the Structural Equation Modeling, independent variables which influence the health-related quality of life are as follows: sex the highest, followed by existence of chronic diseases, perceived health, age, perceived oral health the lowest. Parameters are as follows: oral health-related quality of life the highest, followed by subjective oral symptoms, and oral health status the lowest. Conclusions : In order to improve the quality of life of olds, it is not only necessary to improve perceived health through reduce of chronic diseases, but is also required to regular tooth check-up to reduce subjective oral symptoms for increase oral health-related quality of life.
Korean society is experiencing a very rapid change in population aging. Oral diseases, including dental caries and periodontal disease, are usually cumulative and make oral health worse with age. Preventing tooth loss through the prevention and treatment of caries and periodontal diseases are essential for retaining oral function later in life. This study aimed to identify the trend in oral health status among elderlies over 65 years old, using major oral health indicators of Health Plan 2020. The fifth, sixth, and seventh Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (KNHANES V, VI, VII) were used in the present study to estimate the number of remaining natural teeth, the rate of 20 or more natural teeth, the rate of chewing difficulty, and the rate of oral health check-up of elderly. The number of remaining natural teeth increased from 15.6 in 2010 to 17.1 in 2015, and the rate of 20 or more natural teeth also increased from 45.8% in 2010 to 53.7% in 2015. The rate of chewing difficulty was similar but declined a little from 44.3% in 2010 to 42.9% in 2017. Finally, the rate of oral health check-ups of the elderly increased significantly from 12.2% in 2010 to 21.1% in 2017.
