A Study on the Ultrasonographic Liver Fat Density , Obesity Index and Serum Lipids in Korean Adults (성인남녀의 초음파조영술로 측정한 간지방밀도와 혈청지질의 상관관계 연구)

  • This study was to investigate the ultrasonographic liver fat density , obesity index, and serum lipids. One hundred and one (43 males, 58 females)healthy adult subjects were examined using anthropometric indices, biochemical measurements and ultrasonography. The average levels of ULFD, TC, TG, HDL-C, LDL-C were 122.4mg/dl, 201.1mg/dl, 144.9mg/dl, 49.8mg/dl 122.3mg/dl, respectively for males and 117.9mg/dl, 199.1mg/dl, 130.6mg/dl, 50.6mg/dl, 122.3mg/dl, respectively for females. Males had higher levels of ULFD, TC , TPH, LPH and AI than the females but the differences were not significantly. LDL-C, TC , LPH, TPH and AI of obese groups by KI were significantly higher than those of nonobese groups. Ultrasonnographic liver fat density showed positive correlation with BW, W/H and TG. Objective measurement of ultrasonographic liver fat density is useful for the parameter of obesity.

The Effect of Refining Load on the Paper Properties (고해부하가 종이의 물성에 미치는 영향)

  • The effects of refining load on the paper properties were investigated. HwBKP, SwBKP and SwUKP were refined with PFI mill at the load of 3.33 N/mm and 6.00 N/mm. Higher Scott bond was obtained at the higher refining load for three pulp used in this study. However any changes in the light scattering coefficient with the change of refining load were not observed. Although the effect of refining load on the formation index for SwUKP was not observed, higher refining load gave the better formation for HwBKP and SwBKP. The fiber mass and fiber crowding factor were not affected by the refining load. Higher apparent density and tensile index were obtained with the higher refining load. However, the higher refining load did not improve the tensile index at the same apparent density. The tear index was decreased with the increase of refining load.

  • One of the most important factor for the comfort of the passenger vehicles is the minimization of the compressible transmissibility during the running vehicles. Seat foam materials of I2 series(index 95 and the contents of isocyanate TDI was changed in percentages 75, 70, 65, 60, 50, 40) and DI series(density 50kg/$\textrm{m}^3$, index was changed 100, 95, 90) showed the significant differences in their transmissibility depended upon their chemical constitution such as index and contents of isocyanate TDI. The minimum trasmissibility of seat foam materials of I2 series was found from the materials with the contents of 65% isocyanate TDI and the index 95 at the frequency 4.79~5.31Hz. Also the minimum transmissibility of seat foam materials of DI series was found from the materials with the index 90 and the density of 50kg/$\textrm{m}^3$ at the frequency of 4.79~5.31Hz.

Effect of Isocyanate Index on the Properties of Rigid Polyurethane Foams Blown by HFC 365mfc

  • Rigid polyurethane foams (RPUFs) were fabricated from crude MDI (CMDI) and polypropylene glycols (PPGs) of various isocyanate indices with a physical blowing agent (HFC 365mfc). There was a tendency for the gel time to decrease and the tack-free time to increase with increasing index value. With increasing index value the foam density and compression strength decreased and the glass transition temperature, dimension stability and thermal insulation increased, while the cell size and closed cell content were virtually unchanged. Allophanate crosslinks and condensation reactions between the isocyanate groups, which are favored with a high index value, exerted significant effects on the properties of RPUFs.

  • In boreal conifers in China's Northeast area, maximum latewood density (MXD) of tree-ring varies in response to growing season temperature. Forest net productivity can be estimated using the Normalized-difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) calculated from satellite sensor data. MXD from the Mohe site in this area was compared with estimates of NPP for 1982-1999 produced by the NDVI model, which was established based on the relationship of leaf area index (LAI) and NDVI. The result shows that the MXD series correlated significantly with the NDVI model estimates series, suggesting that MXD appeared to be an appropriate index for productivity or canopy growth in region where forest productivity is strongly temperature-related.

  • Soil volume conversion factors are used for estimation of an excavated the soil volume which will be removed or added in levelling the ground surface of a construction site. An accurate evaluation method will help us reduce a construction cost and time consuming. In this study, we performed the laboratory tests, including grain size measurement, water content, specific gravity, porosity, density and XRD tests, to suggest reliable soil volume conversion factors and weathering indices in field using nondestructive methods. The weathering index and soil volume conversion factor L are obtained for different types of soils. At results, the CIW index is the best method measuring the weathering index and the factor L is relative to natural porosity, void ratio, density and dry density.

Relationship between Bone Mineral Density and Bone Metabolic Biochemical Markers and Diet Quality Index-International(DQI-I) in Postmenopausal Obese Women (폐경비만여성의 골밀도와 골대사 지표 및 식사의 질 상관성 조사)

  • Objectives: This study compared the differences of postmenopausal women's bone mineral density in relation to the degree of obesity, metabolism index and dietary factors that affect bone mineral density. Methods: The subjects included in the study are 39 postmenopausal women of normal weight with body mass index less than $25kg/m^2$ and 32 postmenopausal who are obese. Anthropometry and biochemical analysis were performed and nutrient intakes and DQI-I were assessed. Results: Normal weight women were $56.03{\pm}3.76years$ old and obese women were $58.09{\pm}5.13years$ old and there was no significant difference in age between the two groups. The T-score of bone mineral density was $0.03{\pm}1.06$ in normal weight women and $-0.60{\pm}1.47$ in obese women and this was significantly different between the two groups (p<0.05). Blood Leptin concentration was significantly lower in normal weight women ($6.09{\pm}3.37ng/mL$) compared to obese women in ($9.01{\pm}4.99ng/mL$) (p<0.05). The total score of diet quality index-international was $70.41{\pm}9.34$ in normal weight women and $64.93{\pm}7.82$ in obese women (p<0.05). T-score of bone mineral density showed negative correlations with percentage of body fat (r = -0.233, p=0.05), BMI (r = -0.197, p=0.017), triglyceride (r = -0.281, p=0.020) and leptin (r = -0.308, p=0.011). The results of multiple regression analysis performed as the method of entry showed that with 22.0% of explanation power, percentage of body fat (${\beta}=-0.048$, p<0.05), triglyceride (${\beta}=-0.005$, p<0.05) and HDL-cholesterol (${\beta}=0.034$, p<0.01), moderation of DQI-I (${\beta}=-0.231$, p<0.05) affected T-score significantly. Conclusions: The results of the study showed that obese women have less bone density than those with normal weight women. In addition, the factor analysis result that affect bone mineral density showed that intake of fat is a very important factor. Therefore, postmenopausal women need to maintain normal weight and manage blood lipid levels within normal range. They also need to take various sources of protein and reduce consumption of empty calorie foods that have high calories, fat, cholesterol and sodium.

The effect of dynamic stabilization exercise on unstable surface on thickness, density of back muscle (불안정 지지면에서의 동적 안정화 운동이 허리근육의 두께 및 밀도에 미치는 효과)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of dynamic stabilization exercise on unstable surface on thickness, muscle density and white area index (WAI) of transverse abdominis muscle and multifidus muscle. The subjects were 20s healthy adults and 27 people were measured for muscle thickness and muscle density, white area index after the experiment conducted during a six-week dynamic stabilization exercises divided into three groups, each in a different plane. The results showed a significant difference between the three groups (p <.05). Repeated measures analysis of variance (repeated ANOVA) results, transverse abdominis muscle and multifidus muscle thickness showed a significant difference between the groups in the time difference (p <.05), and between multifidus muscle density and white area index in the comparison between groups showed a significant difference (p <.05). In conclusion, showed significant difference in lumbar stabilization exercise part. These results seems to be utilized as a basis for future research on the lumbar stabilization exercise.

Effects of Nutrient Intake of College Women in the Daegu Area on Body Content and Bone Mineral Density (대구지역 여대생의 영양소 섭취 상태가 체성분 및 골밀도에 미치는 영향)

  • Body content bone mined density and nutrient intake status of 129 college women in Daegu area are analyze4 The mean age was 23.1 years. Bone mineral density was measured in their right heel by SONOST-2000 ultrasound bone densitometer, and nutrient intake was assessed by a Questionnaire. Diet intake data were obtained by using a 24 hours recall method to evaluate the subject's usual diet. The average energy, Ca, Ee, Zn and folate intakes were 64.2, 47.5, 54.7, 62.9 and $57.4\%$ of RDA, respectively. Ca/P and Ca/Protein ratio were 0.46 and 6.7, respectively. The mean adequacy ratio(MAR), an index of overall dietary quality wag 0.6. The index of nutritional quality was under 1.0 for protein(0.7), vitamin A(0.9), E(0.7), $B_1(0.8)$, niacin(0.8), $B_6(0.6)$ and phosphorus(0.6). The less the protein and energy intake, the less the bone mineral density(p<0.05). The intakes of protein(p<0.05) and that of phosphorus(p<0.001) were positively correlated with bone quality index(BQI). The calcium intake was positively correlated with Z-score(p<0.05). The phosphorus intake was positively correlated with T-score(p<0.001) and Z-score(p<0.0001). In conclusion, this study indicates that nutrient intake of the college women is considerably lower than the RDA. Also the BQI is lower than standard.

Development for the Index of an Anesthesia Depth using the Power Spectrum Density Analysis (뇌파 스펙트럼 분석에 의한 마취 심도 지표 개발)

  • In this paper, new index was developed to estimate the depth of anesthesia during general anesthesia using EEG. Analysis of the power spectral density(PSD) of EEG was used to develop new parameters because EEG signal tends to have slow wave during anesthesia. Classifier for index creator was developed by using SEF, BDR and BTR parameters, which are calculated by power spectral density. EEG data were obtained from 7 patients (ASA I, II) during general anesthesia with Sevoflurane. The anesthetic depth evaluation indexes ranged from 0 to 100. The average were $86.05{\pm}10.1$, $36.98{\pm}20.2$, $15.33{\pm}13.6$, $50.87{\pm}16.5$ and $87.72{\pm}11.7$ for the states of pre-operation, induction of anesthesia, operation, awaked and post-operation, respectively. The results show that while the depth of anesthesia was evaluated, more accurate information can be provided for anesthetician.
