  • The effect of reaction condition, solvent addition and thermal treatment on the bulk density, crystallinity and chemical properties of the freeze-dried cefazohn sodium was inves tigated to prepare the cefazolin sodium powder for injection with good flowability. Crystalline cefazolin sodium powder with high untapped-bulk density (about 45%) and low compressibility (about 40%) was obtained by solvent addition to the very highly concentrated cefazohn sodium solution followed by subsequent thermal treatment before freeze-drying. The desirable solvent was low substituted alcohol such as isopropyl alcohol and anhydrous ethanol with the final concentration of about 9%. The pH adjustment and nitrogen gas purging during the reaction did not give significant effect on the chemical properties such as content, color, transmittance and pH of the reconstituted cefazolin sodium aqueous solution.

  • This study was performed to determine the effect of structural characteristics of selected wool fabrics on mechanical and thermal properties. 52 wool fabrics, including 18 plain woven fabrics and 34 twill and satin woven fabrics were used as samples woven with various weft density for the study. Several physical characteristics such as mechanical properties, keeping warmth ratio of wool fabrics were measured. Data analyses including 1) analysis of tactile and thermal comfort sensation were performed. the following were obtained from the results: The main factors affecting keeping warmth ratio were thickness and bulk density. The keeping warmth ratio of samples increased with increasing thickness and decreasing bulk density of samples. In addition, coefficient of friction of the samples increased with keeping warmth ratio of samples. The above results show that wearing sensation and comfort properties of fabrics are changed depending on the end-use, and thus, above results can be used to manufacture of fabrics for specific end-use with high comfort properties.

  • A plasticity theory applicable to the powdered metal compaction is briefly summarized and its varia-tional form for the finite element analysis is described. The compaction processes of axisymmetric solid cylinder are simulated. For the analysis of the friction effect on compaction process the investigations were performed for different compact geometries. Efforts are focused on the transmitted pressure through the compact and density distributions within the compacts. Numerical results show that :(1) the friction coefficient could be selected simply from the transmitted force data by the single acting compaction test and the simulated results ; and (2) density variations within the compacts rely on the compact geometry such as height to diameter ration and the frictional condition between compact and dies.

  • In this paper, we have investigated the effect of organic additives and prestressed D C. voltage on the impulse tree initiation in low density polyethylene. The five klnds of organic compounds was selected for the purpose of inhibiting tree initiation and 10 wt % of each additive was mixed in low density polyethylene. The positive or negative impulse voltage was applied after prestressed D.C. voltage was applied in order to investigate the effect of the space charge influenced on tree initiation. The lengths of tree initiation in case of belng same polarity between prestressed D.C. voltage and impulse voltage were longer than those in case of being different polarity between prestressed D.C. voltage and impulse voltage. When the polarity prestressed D.C. voltage was the different plarity of impulse voltage, the length of tree initiation increased with increasing the prestressed D.C. voltage and decreasing the rest time Among the organic additives used in this paper, the m-cresol can be shown to be the most effective inhibiter to tree initiation.

  • The swelling pressure of a potential buffer material was measured and the effect of dry density, bentonite content and initial water content on the swelling pressure was investigated to provide the information for the selection of buffer material in a high-level waste repository. Swelling tests were carried out according to Box-Behnken's experimental design. Measured swelling pressures were in the wide range of 0.7 Kg/$\textrm{cm}^2$ to 190.2 Kg/$\textrm{cm}^2$ under given experimental conditions. Based upon the experimental data, a 3-factor polynomial swelling model was suggested to analyze the effect of dry density, bentonite content and initial water content on the swelling pressure The swelling pressure increased with an increase in the dry density and bentonite content, while it decreased with increasing the initial water content and, beyond about 12 wt.% of the initial water content, levelled off to nearly constant value.

  • This study was performed to evaluate the effect of dietary protein level on Ca efficiency in bone mineral density in growing male rats. Twenty male rate were divided into two groups. The rats in one group were fed on casein 20% diet as control group and the others were fed on casein 40% diet as protein group. All rats were fed on experimental diet and deionized water ad libitum for 9 weeks. The total body, spine and femur bone mineral density and bone mineral content were measured using dual energy-x ray absorptiometry. Urinary calcium, phosphate, pyridinoline and creatinine, serum calcium, phosphate, total protein, albumin, alkaline phosphatase(ALP) and osteocalcin were measured. Urinary Ca excretion, pyridinoline and crosslinks value and serum ALP content seem to be increased in high protein group. It appears that the growing rats in high protein group had a higher bone resprption and bone formation than those in control group. Animal fad a high protein diet had a siginficantly higher Ca efficiency in BMD, BMC of total body, spine and femur. The results of this show that increasing of dietary protein level (40%) is beneficial of improvement of Ca efficiency during growing period.

  • In this study, an electrolyzing device for the production of metal powders was designed and fabricated. The production of copper powders was performed using a variety of current densities, anode-cathode distances and power removal times. The effect of these parameters on powder particle size and shape was determined. Particle size was measured using a laser diffraction unit while the powder shape was determined by SEM. Experimental results show that an increase in current density leads to a decrease in powder particle size. In addition particle shape changed from globular dendritic to acicular dendritic with increasing the current density. Distance between the cathode and anode also showed a similar influence on powder particle size and shape. An increase in time of powder removal led to an increase in powder particle size, as the shape changed from acicular dendritic to globular dendritic.

  • This paper deals with free vibration analysis of nanosize rings and arches with consideration of surface effects. The Gurtin-Murdach model is employed for incorporating the surface effect parameters including surface density, while the small scale effect is taken into consideration based on nonlocal elasticity theory of Eringen. An analytical Navier solution is presented to solve the governing equations of motions. Comparison between results of the present work and those available in the literature shows the accuracy of this method. It is explicitly shown that the vibration characteristics of the curved nanosize beams are significantly influenced by the surface density effects. Moreover, it is shown that by increasing the nonlocal parameter, the influence of surface density reduce to zero, and the natural frequency reaches its classical value. Numerical results are presented to serve as benchmarks for future analyses of nanosize rings and arches.

  • In the construction of earth dam, embankment, highway by filling, a compaction is to increase the density of applying pressure. By compaction interspaces between the soil graivos decrease so that density and adhesion increase but void and permeability decrease. Good compaction results in higher stablilty. The effect of the compaetion depends on a number of factors, of which the most important are soil charactesistics. Water content, and external force. In this study discussed is about sandy loam that since, with indentical force exerted and indentical compaction method, the effect of the compaction will be different due to the soil characteristics, the change of optimum moisture content and of maximum dry density by compaction yields difference in Compaction for a same sample.

  • To estimate the influence of electrical properties due to the poly back seal(PBS). we were investigated defect density in surface by deposition thickness and breakdown voltage in specimens. Deposition thickness of specimen is prepared from 7,000[$\AA$] to 13,000[$\AA$], respectively. From the results, it is confirmed that PBS deposition thickness of 10,000[$\AA$] among the specimen is decreased defect density by contribution of the gettering effect.
