The Origin-Destination(OD) matrix is very important in describing transport movements in a region. The OD matrix can be estimated using traffic counts on links in the transport network and other available information. This information on the travel is often contained in a target OD matrix and traffic counts in links. To estimate an OD matrix from traffic counts, they are the major input data which obviously affects the accuracy of the OD matrix estimated, Generally, the quality of an estimated OD matrix depends much on the reliability of the input data, and the number and locations of traffic counting points in the network. Any Process regarding the traffic counts such as the amount and their location has to be carefully studied. The objective of this study is to select of the optimal location of traffic counting points for the OD matrix estimation. The model was tested in nationwide network. The network consists of 224 zones, 3,125 nodes and 6,725 links except to inner city road links. The OD matrix applied for selection of traffic counting points was estimated to 3-constrained entropy maximizing model. The results of this study follow that : the selected alternative to the best optimal counting points of six alternatives is the alternative using common links of OD matrix and vehicle-km and traffic density(13.0% of 6,725 links), however the worst alternative is alternative of all available traffic counting points(44.9% of 6,725 links) in the network. Finally, it should be concluded that the accuracy of reproduced OD matrix using traffic counts related much to the number of traffic counting points and locations.
Cities will soon host two third of the population worldwide, and already today 80% of the world energy is used in the 20 largest cities. Urban areas create 80% of the greenhouse gas emission, so we should take care that urban areas are smart and sustainable as implementations have especially here the greatest impact. Smart Cities (SC) or Smart Sustainable Cities (SSC) are the actual concepts that describe methodologies how cities can handle the high density of citizens, efficiency of energy use, better quality of life indicators, high attractiveness for foreign investments, high attractiveness for people from abroad and many other critical improvements in a shifting environment. But if we talk about Entrepreneurship Ecosystem and Innovation, we do not see a lot of literature covering this topic within those SC/SSC concepts. It seems that 'Smart' implies that all is embedded, or isn't it properly covered as brick stone of SC/SSC concepts, as they are handled in another 'responsibility silo', meaning that the policy implementation of a Science and Technology Park (STP) is handled in another governing body than SC/SSC developments. If this is true, we will obviously miss a lot of synergy effects and economies of scale effects. Effects that we could have in case we stop the siloed approaches of STPs by following a more holistic concept of a Smart Sustainable City, covering also a continuous flow of innovation into the city, without necessarily always depend on large corporate SSC solutions. We try to argue that every SSC should integrate SP/STP concepts or better their features and services into their methodology. The very limited interconnectivity between these concepts within the governance models limits opportunities and performance in both systems. Redesigning the architecture of the governance models and accepting that we have to design a system-of-systems would support the possible technology flow for smart city technologies, it could support testbed functionalities and the public-private partnership approach with embedded business models. The challenge is of course in complex governance and integration, as we often face siloed approaches. But real SSC are smart as they are connecting all those unconnected siloes of stakeholders and technologies that are not yet interoperable. We should not necessarily follow anymore old greenfield approaches neither in SSCs nor in SP and STP concepts from the '80s that don't fit anymore, being replaced by holistic sustainability concepts that we have to implement in any new or revised SSC concepts. There are new demands for each SP/STP being in or close to an SC/SCC as they have a continuous demand for feeding the technology base and the application layer and should also act as testbeds. In our understanding, a big part of STP inputs and outputs are still needed, but in a revised and extended format. We know that most of the SC/STP studies claim the impact is still far from understood and often debated, therefore we must transform the concepts where SC/STPs are not own 'cities', but where they act as technology source and testbed for industry and new SSC business models, being part of the SC/STP concept and governance from the beginning.
Korea is a global steel producer and a major consumer while iron ore producing is very low compared to the demand. On the other hand, North Korea holds tremendous amount of iron reserves and, however, its producing rate is limited. Moreover, the data regarding mineral resources of North Korea is very limited and uncertain because of political isolation. This study estimated the amount of iron ore resource and production amount for the Musan Iron mine, the world-known open-pit mine of North Korea, using satellite imagery(Landsat MSS, ASTER) and digital maps between 1976 to 2007. As a result, the mining area of Musan mine was increased by $6.1km^2$ during the 30 years and the mining sector was estimated as $4.9km^2$. We estimated the iron resources and production amount of 0.7 and 0.2 billion metric tons, respectively based on 3D modeling and average iron ore density of Anshan formation in China. This amount indicates 8.1 million tons of annual average production and it coincides well with previous reports. We expect this study would be utilized significantly on inter-Korean exchange programs by providing trustable preliminary data.
The screening of the microorganisms degrading chlorinated organic compounds such as PCP (pentachlorophenol) and TCE (trichloroethylene) was conducted with soil and industrial wastewater contaminated with various chlorinated organic compounds. Isolates (GP5, GP19) capable of degrading PCP and isolates (GA6, GA15) capable of degrading TCE were identified as Acetobactor sp., Pseudomonas sp., Arthrobacer sp., Xanthomonas sp. and named Acetobacter sp. GP5, Pseudomonas sp. GP19, Arthrobacer sp. GA6 and Xanthomoas sp. GA15, respectively. The microbial augmentation, OC17 formulated with the mixture of bacteria including isolates (4 strains) degrading chlorinated organic compounds and isolates (Acinetobacter sp. KN11, Neisseria sp. GN13) degrading aromatic hydrocarbons. Characteristics of microbial augmentation OC-17 showed cell mass of $2.8{\times}10^9CFU/g$, bulk density of $0.299g/cm^3$ and water content of 26.8%. In the experiment with an artificial wastewater containing PCP (500 mg/l), degradation efficiency of the microbial augmentation OC17 was 87% during incubation of 65 hours. The degradation efficiency of TCE (300 uM) by microbial augmentation OC17 was 90% during incubation of 50 hours. In a continuous culture experiment, analysis of the biodegradation of organic compounds by microbial augmentation OC17 in industry wastewater containing chlorinated hydrocarbons showed that the removal rate of COD was 91% during incubation of 10 days. These results indicate that it is possible to apply the microbial augmentation OC17 to industrial wastewaters containing chlorinated organic compounds.

To provide essential information of the role of marine bacteria on the dinoflagellate blooms, distribution of marine bacterial flora and dinoflagellate species was investigated in Chinhae Bay located in southern part of Korea from August 1989 to April 1990. Two hundred and fifty one strains of marine bacteria were isolated from seawater samples collected from the study area. Among them, Flavobacterium spp. and Acinetobacter spp. were the most dominant in bacterial flora. Another 32 strains which comprised 13 percent of total strains were Erythrobacter spp.. Based on the physiological character, Erythrobacter spp. were identified as Erythrobacter longus, Erythrobacter sp.(J-2) and Erythrobacter sp. (J-8). From the phytoplanktonic community, fourteen genera and twenty nine taxa of dinoflagellate species were identified. Based on the spatio-temporal frequence and abundance Gymnodinium sanguneum, Prorocentrum micans and Prorocentrum minimum were the aestival dominent species. However, Heterocapsa triquetra was appeared as predominant species in April. Cell density of about 2,000 cells/ml was prevailed in the bloom of August, but it developed into more intensive bloom of above 500 cells/ml in September. The water quality showed eutrophic or hypereutrophic condition, which was proved by high concentration of dissolved inorganic nitrogen, ortho-phosphate and chemical oxygen demand. Oxygen deficient water mass was found in the bottom overlying waters in August and September. High relationship between abundant bacterial flora and persistent dinoflagellate blooms in eutrophic condition would be approvable.

Recently, for a smart city, there is a demand for a technology for acquiring traffic information using an intelligent road infrastructure and managing it. In the meantime, various technologies such as loop detectors, ultrasonic detectors, and image detectors have been used to analyze road traffic information but these have difficulty in collecting various informations, such as traffic density and length of a queue required for building a traffic information DB for moving vehicles. Therefore, in this paper, assuming a smart city built on the basis of a camera infrastructure such as intelligent CCTV on the road, a solution for calculating the traffic DB of moving vehicles using Vision Tracking of road CCTV cameras is presented. Simulation and verification of basic performance were conducted and solution can be usefully utilized in related fields as a new intelligent traffic DB calculation solution that reflects the environment of road-mounted CCTV cameras and moving vehicles in a variable smart city road environment. It is expected to be there.
The time for evacuation of residents in emergency planning zone(EPZ) of Uljin nuclear site in case of a radiological emergency was estimated with traffic analysis. Evacuees were classified into 4 groups by considering population density, local jurisdictions, and whether they ate residents or transients. The survey to investigate the behavioral characteristics of the residents was made for 200 households and included a hypothetical scenario explaining the accident situation and questions such as dwelling place, time demand for evacuation preparation transportation means for evacuation, sheltering place, and evacuation direction. The microscopic traffic simulation model, CORSIM, was used to simulate the behavior of evacuating vehicles on networks. The results showed that the evacuation time required for total vehicles to move out from EPZ took longer in the daytime than at night in spite that the delay times at intersections were longer at night than in the daytime. This was analyzed due to the differences of the trip generation time distribution. To validate whether the CORSIM model fan appropriately simulate the congested traffic phenomena assumable in case of emergency, a benchmark study was conducted at an intersection without an actuated traffic signal near Uljin site during the traffic peak-time in the morning. This study indicated that the predicted output by the CORSIM model was in good agreement with the observed data. satisfying the purpose of this study.

In this study, the seasonal field survey was conducted in Goseong Jaran Bay(22 stations), Geoje Hansan Bay(15 stations) and Jinhae Bay(18 stations). We analyzed the sediment environmental parameters(Chemical Oxygen Demand, Ignition Loss, Acid Volatile Sulfides, Total Organic Carbon) and biotic parameters of macrobenthic polychaetes(number of species, density, diversity, evenness). It had a good correlation between total organic carbon and polychaete diversity(R=0.61, P<0.01), and we made a decision them as representative environmental indices. As a result of that, regarding the criteria in the assessment of farm environment, we suggest concentrations of total organic carbon : Peak Point = 15 mg/g dry, Warning Point = 26 mg/g dry, Contaminated Point = 31 mg/g dry and polychaete diversity : ~2.6(Good), 2.6~2.1(Moderate), 2.1~1.2(Poor) and 1.2~(Bad). This could be a scientific basis to establish the environmental standards for fishery management.

Sodium sulfur (NAS) battery is a high energy storage system (ESS). These days, as the use of renewable green energy like wind energy, solar energy and ocean energy is rapidly increasing, the demand of ESS is increasing and NAS battery is considered to be one of the most promising ESS. Since NAS battery has a high energy density(3 times of lead acid battery), long cycle life and no self-charge and discharge, it is a good candidate for ESS. A NAS battery consists of sulfur as the positive electrode, sodium as the negative electrode and ${\beta}$"-alumina as the electrolyte and a separator simultaneously. Since sulfur is an insulator, carbon felt should be used as conductor with sulfur and so the composition and property of the cathode could largely influence the cell performance and life cycle. Therefore, in this paper, the composition of NAS battery, the property of carbon felt and sodium polysulfides ($Na_2S_x$, intermediates of discharge), and the effects of these factors on cycle performance of cells are described in detail.

Demand for dwarf mondo grass (DMG; Ophiopogon japonicus 'Nanus') as an ornamental garden plant is expected to grow in the future. The purpose of this study was to investigate the levels of shade tolerance and ground cover by growing DMG under a variety of shade conditions for 18 months (May 2015~October 2016). DMG plants grown in bare ground for 3 years in Jangheung-gun, Jeonnam were used for testing. In an experimental site created in Naju city in Jeonnam, the DMG was planted in planters ($70cm{\times}70cm{\times}24cm$) and covered with a shading curtain to block natural light. Shaded conditions were then arranged under different levels of shade (0%, 55% and 75%). When the plants were grown, growth (leaf size, the number of leaves, fresh weight and dry weight) and ground coverage of DMG were analyzed. According to the results, DMG growth in terms of leaf size and the number of leaves was statistically higher under zero shade (full sunlight), when compared to other shaded conditions. DMG's fresh and dry weights were significantly greater under 0% and 55% shade, compared to those under 75% shade. The degrees of shade tolerance required for normal growth of DMG were found in the range of 0~50%, meaning that more than 50% shade may decrease plant growth. There were no statistical differences in ground coverage rates of DMG under different levels of shade. When 220 tillers were planted per $1m^2$ of plot, up to 80% of the area was covered by DMG after 18 months. Since DMG requires nutrient-rich soil to grow, sufficient nitrogen fertilizers are proposed to accelerate the ground cover of DMG. As DMG remained alive over the winter in the experiments, this study also suggests that DMG can be planted in the southern temperate region.
