  • It is the advantage of PLC that digitalization and networking of existing facility can be organized at low price because there is no need further construction of communication line considering that home appliance, information device and various kind of control devices are digitalized at low price. Moreover, AMR(Automatic Meter Reading) is very attractive to utility company because not only does it reduce the cost of reading meter, but also it can control and monitor the demand for energy. So, it can solve the consumers problem best and easily. It also can be easily realized that the utilities can expand there areas to values-added service through existing network. The performance of the PLC modem which is being developed now is not moven enough and much more test for outdoor modem is needed especially. Therefore, we, KEPRI, concentrate our efforts on configuring AMR system for test and investigation of the actual performance of various kinds ...

  • Many of today´s robot are required to perform tasks which demand a high level of accuracy in end-effector positioning. Those rigid robots are very inefficient and slow because its have large and heavy links, In an attempt to solve these problems, a robots using flexible beam were created. But the single-link flexible beam is infinite-dimensional system. Many researchers have proposed controlling such a beam an approximated model consisting of a finite a number of models. In this paper, we start by deriving the analytic model for the dynamics of general single-link beam, and a controller is designed for flexible beam with integral type servo system bases of the linear matrix inequality (LM) technique. To the end, simulation results show that a designed controller guarantees affective vibration control the single-link flexible beam.

  • An Orphan Sources Control program controlled by a web based information system in Korea has been developed to satisfy the national demand on a total management of and integrated radiation safety. There are, currently, three approaches going on to control and manage the orphan sources in Korea. First, Korean regulatory authority has been conducting scrutinizing investigation on and thoroughly monitoring the possession of unlicensed radioactive sources from the late 1990s. Second, the regulatory authority will fully operate an information system on radiation safety to effectively trace and monitor all radioactive sources in the country by the mid 2001. Finally, the regulatory authority strongly advises steel mill companies to closely scrutinize and inspect the scrap metals when they attempt to reutilize metals to prevent from being contaminated by uncontrolled sources through the scrap monitoring systems.

  • A CATHENA model for the reactor regulating system is developed and tested independently. A CATHENA plant model is created by combining this model with the reference CATHENA model which has been developed to analyze a loss-of-coolant accident (LOCA) for the Wolsong 2 generating station. This model is intended to provide a trip coverage analysis capability. The CATHENA reactor regulating system model includes the demand power routine. the light water zone control absorbers, mechanical control absorbers and adjusters. The CATHENA model is tested for steady state at 103% full power. A postulated accident transient (small LOCA) was also tested. The results show that the control routines in CATHENA were set up properly.

  • The demand to increase productivity and quality, the shortage of skilled labour and the strict health and safety requirements have led to the development of the automated welding process to deal with many of the present problems of welded fabrication. To make effective use of the automated arc welding process, it is imperative that a mathematical model, which can be programmed easily and fed to the robot, should be developed. The objectives of the paper are to develop the mathematical equations (linear and curvilinear) for study of the relationship between process variables and bead geometry by employing a standard statistical package program, SAS and to choose the best model for automation of the $CO_2$ gas arc welding process. Mathematical models developed from experimental results can be employed to control the process variables in order to achieve the desired bead geometry based on weld quality criteria. Also these equations may prove useful and applicable for automatic control system and expert systems.

  • We can efficiently collect crops or minerals by operating multi-robot foraging. As foraging spaces become wider, control algorithms demand scalability and reliability. Swarm robotics is a state-of-the-art algorithm on wide foraging spaces due to its advantages, such as self-organization, robustness, and flexibility. However, high initial and operating costs are main barriers in performing multi-robot foraging system. In this paper, we propose a novel method to improve the energy efficiency of the system to reduce operating costs. The idea is to employ a new behavior model regarding role division in concert with the search space division.

  • Nowadays, the demand for home networking system is gradually increasing. But most of vendors use their own protocols. KNX/EIB ( European Installation Bus / Konnex) is a standard protocol approved as an European (EN 50090 - EN 13321-1) and a World-wide standard (ISO/IEC 14543). In this study, we develop on/off and dimming lighting control system using BIM. In this system, BIM communicates to micro-controller using PEI(Physical External Interface) communication. And this enables including more KNX/EIB communication objects in lighting control system, and providing lighting control algorithm. The technology in this paper can help to adapt the world-wide standards.

  • Electrical motors are an integral part of industrial plants with no less than 5 billion motors built word wide every year and the BLDC motor have been increased demand on industrial application. This paper presents BLDC motor control algorithm for cost effective motor application using general purpose microprocessor which have only one on-chip timer and describes how to realize pulse width modulation(PWM) signals with general input/output(I/O) ports to control a three-phase permanent magnet brushless do motor using timer interrupt on MSP430F1232.

  • For the high power demand and N+1 redundancy, this paper presents the digital load share (LS) controller design and the implementation of paralleled phase-shifted full-bridge converters (PSFBC) used in distributed power systems. By adopting the digital control strategy, separately used ICs for PSFBC and LS control functions in analog systems can be merged into a cost-effective digital controller. To compensate and stabilize both PSFBC and LS loops with the direct digital design approaches, small-signal model of the system is derived in discrete-time domain. The steady-state and dynamic load sharing performances are also investigated. Experimental results from two 1.2 kW paralleled PSFBC modules are shown to verify the proposed work.
