  • Recently, interest and demand of Augmented Reality(AR) contents are increasing as an application field of AR. Generally, when the AR contents are served in the outdoor environment, the position information using the GPS signal is used to control the display of the object on the AR screen, or a marker based on the image of the object is used. However, there is a problem that location information can not be used in an indoor environment. If the service is provided using only the marker, there is a problem that the recognition of the marker due to the moving obstacle in the vicinity is unstable. and there is a problem that information displayed on the AR screen is not displayed in a fixed state at a specific position, it moves according to the movement of the camera. In this paper, we have studied the object control method for displaying the object to be displayed on the AR screen by using iBeacon using indoor location recognition and specific markers.

  • As the demand of digital image processing devices has been rapidly increased recently, the excellent image quality is required. However, degradation can be occurred with multiple causes during transmission and processing process. Therefore, the needs to eliminate the noise are increased and the noise elimination technology became the major study area. Therefore, image restoration algorithm was suggested to apply the filter differently by edge and non-edge areas, using modified edge detection with preprocessing process so as to relieve the effect of additive white Gaussian noise(AWGN) which is added in the image, in this article. In addition, it was compared with the existing methods using peak signal to noise ratio(PSNR) as the objective determination standard of the improvement effect.

  • The increasing demand for fast, flexible and guaranteed Quality of Service (QoS) in core networks has caused to deploy MultiProtocol Label Switching (MPLS) and Generalized MPLS (GMPLS) control plane. In GMPLS control plane, path computation and cooperation processes are one of the crucial element to maintain an acceptable level of service. The Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) has proposed the Path Computation Element (PCE) architecture. The PCE is a dedicated network element devoted to path computation process and communications between Path Computation Clients (PCC) and PCEs is realized through the PCE Protocol (PCEP). This paper examines the PCE-based path computation architecture to include the design and implementation of PCEP. The functional modules including Finite State Machine (FSM) and related key design issues of each state are presented. In particular we also discuss internal/external protocol interfaces that efficiently control the communication channels.

  • Personal Rapid Transit(PRT), which is one of the next generation convergence transport technology, PRT system requires operation technology for controlling diverse vehicles and dealing with a variety of abnormal driving situations on a large scale trackway structures in expected operational area more efficiently and reliably. Before developing PRT control technology, it is essential that multiple testing procedures stepwise with building small scale test-tracks and develop real unmanned-vehicles. However, it is expected that the experiments demand huge amount of time and physical cost. Thus, simulation in virtual environment is efficient to develop wireless based control technology for multiple PRT vehicles prior to building real-test environment. In this paper, we propose a VR-based integrated simulator which physics engine is applied so that it enables simulation of front-wheel-steering PRT system rather than simple rail track system. The proposed simulator is also developed that it can reflect geographical features, infrastructures and network topology of expected driving region.

  • Boilers, which are considered to be one of the basic equipment in industry, consume large potion of nation's petroleum and their demand is growing everyday. In recent, the technology improvement in production of high efficiency boilers and their effective utilization is needed for design of boiler which steam condition is the large capacity of high temperature and high pressure. It is necessary that boiler control system be studied for high efficiency, high reliability and smooth operation. The control of drum pressure and water level particularly becomes an important task for greater accuracy with the avail ability of boiler operation. To achieve this aim, dynamic analysis of a boiler is accomplished by choosing a boiler as a model. Transfer function thus obtained is made a comparison of measurement with reckoning to technical design data. The results of comparison makes it possible to verify thermodynamical analysis on the dynamic behavior of the overall system.

Evaluation of Efficacy of the Patient-controlled Analgesia for Implant Surgery under General Anesthesia (전신마취 하 임플란트 시술을 받은 환자에서 자가통증조절법 치료의 효용성 평가)

  • Background: Despite increasing popularity of dental implants, there is limited information on the pain experience associated with the surgical implant placement under general anesthesia. The aim of this study was to assess the characteristics of patient-reported pain and efficacy of patient controlled analgesia after implant surgery under general anesthesia. Methods: Total 39 patients who underwent implant surgery under general aensthesia were enrolled. In PCA group (n=30), patients received patient controlled analgesia (fentanyl 700 mg and ketorolac 150 mg) set to basal rate 1 ml/h, bolus 1 ml, and lockout interval 10 min. In control group (n=9), patients received ketorolac 30 mg intravenously when they feel painful. We evaluated pain intensity using VAS score at the end and after 12 hr of the operation and recorded the number of bolus injection as a surrogate of rescue therapy. We compared the VAS data, the frequency of complication between two groups. Results: The self reported pain was highest at 1 hous after surgery in both groups. However, the intensity was not severe (PCA group = 5.7, control group = 5.6), and decreased gradually thereafter. Total demand bolus number was less than 6 in nearly 65% patients. And there was no significant difference in the frequency of complications such as nausea, vomiting and dizziness between both groups. Conclusions: The Pain following the surgical placement of dental implants was generally mild and gradually decreased with time. There was no difference in complications between control group and PCA group.

A Stable Operation Strategy in Micro-grid Systems without Diesel Generators

  • Recently, as one of the countermeasures to reduce carbon dioxide($CO_2$) for global warming problems, operation methods in micro-grid systems replacing diesel generator with renewable energy sources including wind power(WP) and photovoltaic(PV) system have been studied and presented in energetic manners. However, it is reported that some operation problems in micro-grid systems without diesel generator for carbon-free island are being occurred when large scaled WP systems are at start-up. To overcome these problems, this paper proposes an operation strategy in micro-grid systems by adapting control devices such as CVCF(constant voltage constant frequency) ESS(energy storage system) for constant frequency and voltage regulation, load control ESS for balancing demand and supply and SVC(static-var compensator) for reactive power compensation. From the simulation results based on the various operation scenarios, it is confirmed that the proposed operation strategy in micro-grid systems without diesel generators is a useful tool to perform a stable operation in micro-grid systems without diesel generator and also make a contribution to reduce carbon dioxide in micro-grid systems.

Adaptive Rate Control for Guaranteeing the Delay Bounds of Streaming Service (스트리밍 서비스의 지연한계 보장을 위한 적응적 전송률 제어기법)

  • Due to the prevalence of various mobile devices and wireless broadband networks, there has been a significant increase in interest and demand for multimedia streaming services. Moreover, the user can service the participatory video broadcasting service in the mobile device and it can be used to deliver the real-time news and more variety information in the user side. Live multimedia service of user participation should consider not only the video quality but also the delay bounds and continuity of video playback for improving the user perceived QoS (Quality of Service) of streaming service. In this paper, we propose an adaptive rate control scheme, called DeBuG (Delay Bounds Guaranteed), to guarantee the delay bounds and continuity of video playback for the real-time streaming in mobile devices. In order to provide those, the proposed scheme has a quality adaptation function based on the transmission buffer status and network status awareness. It also has a selective frame dropper, which is based on the media priority, before the transmission video frames. The simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed scheme.

Development of Standard Checklist for Safety Management of Toxic Gas facility in Domestic University Laboratory (국내 대학 실험실 독성가스 시설의 안전관리를 위한 표준 체크리스트 개발)

  • Toxic gases are managed by High Pressure Gas Safety Control Act. Toxic Gases are "31 designated species and each gas of which the permissible concentration($LC_{50}$) is equal to or less than 5000 ppm as defined in High Pressure Gas Safety Control Act.". Korean toxic gas usage in accordance with the growth of the electronic industry has increased explosively. The demand of toxic gas research in domestic university laboratories has grown together. But the research associated with toxic gas safety management in the domestic laboratory is nonexistent state. In this study, we identified weak points of toxic gas safety management through a survey of domestic university laboratory facilities. This paper presented toxic gas safety measures in order to overcome those weak points. Also this paper developed a standard checklist to improve and ensure safe management of toxic gas facility in accordance with the proposed measures. This research is to enforce safety management of toxic gas facilities in domestic university laboratory and it will provide safety guidelines for every laboratory.

Design Issues in Network Adaptive Delivery and its Networking Support for Continuous Media (연속적인 미디어를 위한 네트워크 적응형 전송 및 네트워킹 지원 설계 이슈들)

  • Delivering rich and continuous media contents robustly over a wide range of network conditions of the wired/wireless Internet is a highly challenging task. To address this challenges, the continuous media applications at the edge of network has become more and more adaptive while the best-effort Internet is slowly progressing towards improved networking services. That is, the role of network adaptive media delivery, which dynamically links the quality demand of application contents to the underlying networking services, has become more crucial. In this paper, we will first review the required network adaptation functionalities seen from the application side: congestion control / rate control, error control, and synchronization / adaptive playout. Then, we start the coverage of networking support issues that helps the realization of network adaptive media streaming - from network support and protocol support toward consolidated support via middleware. Finally, we propose a dynamic network adaptation framework that efficiently leverages its awareness of both media application (including contents) and underlying networking support.
