PURPOSE. The aim of this study was to investigate and compare the color stability of provisional restorative materials fabricated by 3D printing, dental milling, and conventional materials. MATERIALS AND METHODS. For the experimental groups, two commercially available 3D-printing provisional resins (E-Dent 100; EnvisionTEC GmbH, Germany & VeroGlaze™; Stratasys®, USA), two dental milling blocks (PMMA Disk; Yamahachi Dental Co., Japan & Telio®CAD; Ivoclar Vivadent AG, Liechtenstein), and two conventional materials (Alike™; GC Co., Japan & Luxatemp automix plus; DMG, Germany) were used. The water sorption and solubility test were (n=10, respectively) carried out according to ISO4049:2000 (International Standards Organization, Geneva, Switzerland). For the color stability test (n=10), coffee and black tea were used as staining solutions, and the specimens were stored for 12 weeks. Data were analyzed by one-way ANOVA and Tukey's HSD using SPSS version 22.0 (SPSS Inc. Chicago, IL, USA) (P<.05). RESULTS. Alike and Veroglaze showed the highest values and Luxatemp showed the lowest water sorption. In the color stability test, the ΔE of conventional materials varied depending on the staining solution. PMMA milling blocks showed a relatively low ΔE up to 4 weeks, and then significantly increased after 8 weeks (P<.05). 3D-printed materials exhibited a high ΔE or a significant increase over time (P<.05). CONCLUSION. The degree of discoloration increased with time, and a visually perceptible color difference value (ΔE) was shown regardless of the materials and solutions. PMMA milled and 3D-printed materials showed more rapid change in discoloration after 8 weeks.
Objectives: The resin infiltration technique is a promising alternative therapy for arresting the early dental caries. However, there are very few reports on the safety and biocompatibility of this technique. We evaluated various properties of resin infiltrant (RI) based on a triethylene glycol dimethacrylate (TEGDMA).The water sorption (Wsp) and water solubility (Wsl) was assessed. Additionally, the cytotoxicity of RI against both animal and human fibroblast cell lines was investigated. Methods: The RI of the $Icon^{(R)}$, the first product developed for resin infiltration, is mainly composed of TEGDMA in the resin matrix. The Wsp and Wsl for the RI were measured in accordance with ISO 4049 specifications. Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) was used for analyzing the polymerization before and after curing of RI. The cytotoxicity of RI against the mouse fibroblasts (L929) and human gingival fibroblasts (hTERT-hNOF) was evaluated using MTT [3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide] assay and the data were analyzed using one-way analysis of variance. Results: Wsp and Wsl of the RI specimens were $53.37{\mu}g/mm^3$ and $10.6{\mu}g/mm^3$, respectively. FTIR analysis revealed a slightly higher degree of curing with longer irradiation time. The degree of conversion for RI was high (80.9%) after 40 seconds of light curing. There was a significant decrease in the viability of L929 and hTERT-hNOF cells at RI extraction solution concentrations above 50%, respectively, compared to that in the negative control (p< 0.05). Conclusions: Even though the RI exhibited positive effect on the early prevention of dental caries, the clinicians should also consider the toxicity of RI on periodontal tissues.

In this paper, a simple practical method is introduced in which a simple weight measurement of concrete and finite element numerical analysis are used to determine the moisture transfer coefficient of concrete with a satisfactory accuracy. Six concrete mixtures with different water-to-cementitious material (w/cm) ratios and two pozzolanic materials including silica fume and zeolite were examined to validate the proposed method. The comparison between the distribution of the moisture content obtained from the model and the one from the experimental data during both the wetting and drying process properly validated the performance of the method. With the proposed method, it was also shown that the concrete moisture transfer coefficient considerably depends on the pore water saturation degree. The use of pozzolanic materials and also lowering w/cm ratio increased the moisture transfer coefficient during the initial sorption, and then, it significantly decreased with an increase in the water saturation degree.

Periodic mesoporous organosilicas with rope-based morphology from a reaction gel composition of 1 BTME : 0.57 ODTMABr : 2.36 NaOH : 353 H2O were synthesized. While long rope-shaped product dominated in case of static synthesis condition , gyroid type products instead of rope shaped product appeared and rope shaped product disappeared with agitation. PMO with such a long rope shaped morphology is firstly reported. Additionally, various rope-based morphologies depending on the degree of bending, twisting, folding and winding of rope such as spirals, discoids, toroids, and worm-like aggregates were observed. White powdered products were characterized by X-ray diffraction, N2 sorption measurement, SEM and TEM. From XRD pattern and TEM image, ODTMA-PMO with hexagonal symmetry was identified. The pore diameter and BET surface area of ODTMA-PMO are $32.9{\AA}$ and 799 m2g-1 , respectively. Hexagonally arrayed channels run with long axis of rope and rope-based shapes with various degree of curvature, which was elucidated by using TEM images.
Water repellency which affects infiltration, evaporation, erosion and other water transfer mechanisms through soil has been observed under several natural conditions. Water repellency is thought to be caused by hydrophobic organic compounds, which are present as coatings on soil particles or as an interstitial matter between soil particles. This study was conducted to evaluate the characteristics of the water repellent soil and transport characteristics of trace elements within this soil. Capillary height of the water repellent soil was measured. Batch and column studies were accompanied to identify sorption and transport mechanism of trace elements such as $Cu^{2+}$, $Mn^{2+}$, $Fe^{2+}$, $Zn^{2+}$ and $Mo^{5+}$. Difference of sorption capacity between common and repellent soils was observed depended on the degree of repellency. In the column study, the desorption of trace elements and the spatial concentration distribution as a function of time were evaluated. The capillary height was in the repellency order of 0% > 15% > 40% > 70% > 100%. No water was absorbed in soil indicating >70% repellency. Using trace elements, $Fe^{2+}$ and $Mo^{5+}$ showed higher sorption capacity in the repellent soil than in non-repellent soil. The sorption performance of $Fe^{2+}$ was found to be in the repellency order of 40% > 15% > 0%. Our results found that transfer of $Mo^{5+}$ had similar sorption tendency in soils having 0%, 15% and 40% repellency at the beginning, however, the higher desorption capacity was observed as time passes in the repellent soil compared to in non-repellent soils.

The effects of storage temperature and relative humidity (RH), and immersion treatment (30min) of sliced onions in various soluble starch solutions(1-3%; w/v) at $25^{\circ}C$ before air dehydration on caking and water absorption degree of powedered onion were analyzed. In the range of 15 to $35^{\circ}C$, the caking tendency of powdered onion increased with temperature at a constant RH (70% RH). The caking degree of powdered onion also increased as increasing the storage RH, at $25^{\circ}C$. Storage starchpreteatment significantly reduced the water absorption and caking degree of powdered onion under ambient condition. A pretreatment of soluble starch solution(3%) reduced almost 80% the caking of powdered onion compared to that of control.

In an attempt to improve the quality stability of dried layer (Porphyra yezoensis Ueda), during longterm storage and distribution, a 6 months storage trial at different temperature and packaging condition was conducted. Dried layer samples were prepared by conventional procedure with different washing condition and $5^{\circ}C$ and $30^{\circ}C$ were employed as storage temperature. The moisture sorption isotherm was drawn at $5^{\circ}C$ and $25^{\circ}C$ and BET equation was prepared from the moisture sorption isotherm. The monolayer moisture contents of dried layer were 7.4% at $5^{\circ}C$ and 6.4% at $25^{\circ}C$, respectively. It was also found that the changes in comprehensive quality of dried layer during storage was much less at low temperature and the degree of washing before drying process as far as its moisture contents are lower than monolayer moisture contents. With regard to the packing methods, vaccum packing was superior to air containing packaging for the maintainance of quality during storage.

Changes in pyrene partitioning due to mineral surface adsorptive fractionation processes of humic substances (HS) were examined in model environmental systems. For purified Aldrich humic acid(PAHA), carbon-normalized pyrene binding coefficients ( $K_{oc}$ ) for the residual (i.e., nonadsorbed and dissolved) PAHA components were different from the original dissolved PAHA $K_{oc}$ , value prior to contact with mineral suspensions. A positive correlation between the extent of pyrene binding and weight-average molecular weight (M $W_{w}$) of residual PAHA components was observed, which appeared to be unaffected by the specific mineral adsorbents use and fractionation mechanisms. A similar positive correlation was not observed with the adsorbed PAHA components, suggesting that conformational changes occurred for the mineral-associated components upon adsorption. Nonlinear pyrene sorption to mineral-associated PAHA was observed, and the degree of nonlinearity is hypothesized to be dependent on adsorptive fractionation effects and/or structural rearrangement of the adsorbed PAHA components.s.
The reaction of toluene with ethanol was studied over various cation-exchanged pentasil zeolite catalysts. The toluene disproportionation reaction to produce xylenes increased with increasing reaction temperature and the activity of alkylation of toluene with ethanol showed maximum at around $400^{\circ}C$. Only Cs-ZSM-5 catalyst showed pronounced p-ethyltoluene selectivity increasing to 96% with increasing degree of Cs-exchange. The sorption rate of m-xylene was lower for Cs-exchanged ZSM-5 than H-ZSM-5 catalyst. These phenomena were interpreted in terms of shape selectivity arising from the partial blocking of channel intersections by large cesium ions.
The physical properties of freeze-dried Aloe vera gel powders were examined according to the influence of the concentration degrees of the gel solutions as raw materials during freeze-drying. As a pre-treatment prior to freeze-drying, the gel solutions were vacuum-concentrated at three concentration levels (g water/g solids): high (H), 76; medium (M), 119; and low (L), 159. The water contents of the three powder samples were almost the same. For their viscosity measurements, non-Newtonian fluid behavior with shear thinning was observed in samples H and M, whereas Newtonian liquid behavior was found in sample L. In electrical conductivity measurements, sample H showed the highest conductivity upon dissolving the powder in water. For their water sorption isotherms, sample H was analyzed to have the least amount of bound water. Finally, it was determined that the degree of concentration caused only slight differences in the physical properties of freeze-dried Aloe gel powders.
