The thermal deformation volume of motorcycle break disk was studied using a disk-on-pad type friction tester. Thermal deformation volume of motorcycle break disk have an effect on the frictional factor such as applied load, sliding speed, sliding distance and number of ventilated disk hole. However, it is difficult to know the mutual relation of these factors on thermal deformation volume. In this study, the thermal deformation volume with ANSYS workbench are obtained by application of temperature from mechanical test. From this study, the result was shown that the motorcycle break disk with ventilated hole 3 have the most excellent thermal deformation characteristics. The regression equation with frictional factors which have a trust rate of 95% for prediction of thermal deformation volume of motorcycle break disk was composed.

In the recent years, development of machine tool with high speed feeding system have brought a rapid increase in productivity. Practically, thermal deformation problem due to high speed is, however, become a large obstacle to realize high precision machining. In this study, therefore, the construction of automatic error compensation system to control thermal deformation in high speed feeding system with real time is proposed. To attain this purpose, high speed feeding system with feeding speed 60mm/min is developed and experimental equation for relationship between thermal deformation and temperature of ball screw shaft using multiple regression analysis is established. Furthermore, in order to analyze thermal deformation error, compensation coefficient is determined and thermal deformation experiments is carried out. From obtained results, it is confirmed that automatic error compensation system constructed in this study is able to control thermal deformation error within $15{\sim}20{\mu}m$.
In the present study, the microstructural evolution and deformation behavior of AA 2014 aluminum alloys with different microstructures in a semi-solid state were investigated. For a given alloy, applied load and deformation time, the measured strain was higher at a higher temperature, indicative of a lower solid fraction. When a large proportion of the liquid was present as intragranular droplets, the alloy would not as easily deform because the effective liquid fraction between the solid grains had decreased. Greater deformation was achieved with higher grain boundary misorientations due to the enhanced wetting of the grain boundaries with liquid. A semi-empirical constitutive model is proposed for semi-solid deformation under the conditions in the present study. The mechanism of semi-solid deformation incorporates the initial flow of the liquid in the early stages of deformation, followed by a more gradual increase in the strain due to deformation by grain sliding accompanied by self-diffusion in the solid grains.

This paper proposes the thermal characteristics of motor integrated spindle on high precision lathe and investigates the thermal deformation and the running error of spindle. The deformation and the running error of spindle shaft are continuously measured by the gapsensor mounted on machine. The temperature distribution is measured bythe thermal vision system and the thermocouple. The results show that the running error of spindle is dependent on the rotational speed and the thermal deformation.

A series of load relaxation tests was performed to determine stress-strain rate curves at high temperatures. Constitutive parameters of GBS and GMD were evaluated from the curves using the recently proposed inelastic deformation theory. Tensile tests and Microsturcture investigations showed deformation behavior as the relaxation test results predicted.
Permanent Deformation is one of the most important load-related pavement distresses in asphalt pavements. The Korean Pavement Design Guide currently being developed adopted the mechanistic-empirical approach and needed the pavement distress prediction models. This study intends to develop the model for prediction of permanent deformation in the asphalt layer and estimate the pavement performance. The objectives of this paper are to figure out the factors affecting the permanent deformation and then develop the permanent deformation prediction model for asphalt mixtures. The repeated triaxial load test was Performed on the 19mm dense graded asphalt mixture with variation of temperature and air void. Results from the laboratory tests showed that temperature and air void in asphalt mixtures have significantly influenced on the factors in prediction model. The permanent deformation prediction model for 19m dense grade asphalt mixtures has been developed using the multiple regression approach and validated the proposed permanent deformation prediction model.

The spherical glasses lenses are typically classified into two groups such as (+) diopter lens and (-) diopter lens by the refractive power index. The thermal deformation of a lens is occurred by external heat source and is changed respected to the diopter of a lens. In this paper, the thermal deformation of spherical glasses lenses were quantitatively measured by using ESPI (electronic speckle pattern interferometry) which has an advantage that the non-contact, non-destructive and precise deformation measurement is available due to the coherency characteristic. The temperature changes were measured by IR camera. It makes experiments over 14 types of the plastic glasses lenses. From the results, it was confirmed that the larger diopter lens showed the less thermal deformation in case of the (+) diopter lens. On the other hand, the thermal deformation of the (-) diopter lens was measured with uniform pattern when the same temperature changes were applied. Also, it was found that the thermnal deformation of the (+) diopter lens is less than that of the (-) diopter lens. Therefore, it is expected that when the thermal deformation is occurred to the various types of the lens, the variation of the focal length caused by the thermal distortion of a lens would be measured quantitatively.
In recent years, a demand for precision-welding is increasing in wide industrial fields for getting a high quality welded structures. Although laser welding is commonly used for precision-welding, gas tungsten arc (GTA) welding is also attempted as a precision-welding due to the cost benefit. However, welding heat causes an uneven temperature distribution leading to welding deformation. Since it causes geometric errors and degrades product quality, welding distortion recently rises as an important issue in the field of automobile parts. To control welding deformation, it is needed to design in shapes that can maximize stiffness against deformation during welding; control the welding sequence; minimize heat input; and weld allowing reverse deformation; etc. Thus it is necessary to find the one, among such approaches, that can minimize the deformation range by mathematical analysis and understand how effective it would be when it is actually used in industrial fields. This study performs analyses by numerical calculations and experiments for the De-Tent Lever, one of transmission part that requires precision the most among automobile parts, as the subject of experiment. Decrease in welding deformation is required for this part, since there is currently a trouble in guaranteeing precision due to angular deformation by welding between boss and plate. Finally the ways to minimize welding deformation has been suggested in this study through analyses on it.

In the present study, a numerical analysis of an injection molding process was conducted for predicting the mold deformation considering non-Newtonian flow, heat transfer, and structural behavior. The accurate prediction of mold deformation during the filling stage is important to successfully design and manufacture a precision injection mold. While the local mold deformation can be caused by various factors, a pressure induced by the polymer melt is considered to be one of the most significant ones. In this regard, the numerical simulation considering both the melt filling and the mold deformation was carried out. A mold core for a 2D axisymmetric center-gated disk was used for the demonstration of the present study. The flow behavior inside the mold cavity and temperature distribution were analyzed along with the core displacement. Also, a Taguchi method was employed to investigate the influence of the relevant parameters including flow velocity, mold core temperature, and melt temperature.
In this study, effects that thermal stress and water pressure have on the deformation behaviour of granite specimens recovered in Gagok Mine are estimated. To analyze effects of the thermal stress and water pressure on the deformation behaviour, granite specimens were preheated with cycles of predetermined temperatures ranging $200^{\circ}C$ to $700^{\circ}C$ and 500, 600, $700^{\circ}C$ specimens were pressurized to 7.5 MPa. The deformation behaviour of the specimens had been studied by performing uniaxial compressive tests. Axial and lateral strains of specimens were found to increase with increasing temperature, and above $600^{\circ}C$, the increase of strains were more pronounced. The reduction trends of uniaxial compressive strength and Young's modulus with temperature appeared to follow an exponential decay function. Specimens under water pressure showed the more inelastic deformation characteristics, which means that water pressure has an effect on the widening and extending of micro-cracks existed in preheated specimens.
