There have been developed many structural and fluid rotorcraft analysis models in rotorcraft community, and also lots of investigations have been conducted to combine these two models. These investigations turn out to be good at predicting the airloads precisely, but they have not taken the blade nonlinear deflection into account. For this reason, the present paper adopts a sophisticated structural model which can describe three-dimensional nonlinear deflection of the blade. And it is combined with two types of aerodynamic model. First one is generalized Greenberg type of finite-time aerodynamic model, which is originally established for a fixed wing, but later modified to be suitable for coupled flap-lag-torsional aeroelastic analysis of the rotor blade. Second aerodynamic model is based on the unsteady source-doublet panel method coupled with a free wake model. The advantages of the present method are capabilities to consider thickness of the blade and more precise wake effects. Transient responses of the airloads and structural deflections in time domain are mainly analyzed in this paper.

For the structural analysis of ship structures finite element method is generally used but it requires lots of working and computing time from the design viewpoint. Therefore, it is desirable to adopt a new analysis method which gives little computing time and high accuracy instead of finite element method to carry out various alternative design and optimum design. In this study, from the analysis viewpoint, structural analysis of oil tankers is carried out to verify the effectiveness of the generalized slope deflection method and the new equivalent curved beam theory which were formulated by the authors and their superiority is verified by comparison of the computing time and the results of accuracy with existing methods.
In this paper, we present the result of an investigation pertaining to the pipe stiffness of buried flexible pipes. Pipe stiffness (PS) formula for the parallel plate loading condition is derived based on the elasticity theory. Vertical and horizontal displacements are also derived. Vertical deflection is always larger than the horizontal deflection because some of energy due to overburden load is stored in the pipe but the difference is negligibly small. In the study, mechanical properties of the flexible pipes produced in the domestic manufacturer are tested and the results are reported in this paper. In addition, pipe stiffness is determined by the parallel plate loading tests and the finite element analysis. The difference between test and analysis is less than 14% although there are significant variations in the mechanical properties of the pipe material. Therefore, it was found that the finite element analysis can be used to predict the pipe stiffness instead of conducting parallel plate loading test.

Steel fiber and Polymer are used widely for the reinforcement material of RC structures because of its excellence of durability, serviceability as well as mechanical properties. Polymer-Steel fibrous high strength concrete beam's input ratio are 1.0%. The shear span-to-depth ratio are 1.5, 2.8 and 3.6, compressive strength of specimens 320kg/㎠, 436kgf/㎠ and 520kgf/㎠ in 28 days. The static test was carried out to measure the ultimate load, the initial load of flexural crack and of diagonal crack, from which crack patte군 and fracture modes are earned. Also, stress-strain, load-strain and load-deflection are examined during the test cracks(shear crack, flexural crack, and diagonal tension crack), when the load values are sketched according to the growth of crack. Result are as follows; (1) The failure modes of the specimens increase in rigidity and durability in accordance with the increase of mixing steel fiber and polymer. (2) The load of initial crack was the same as the theory of shear-crack strength (3) Polymer-Steel fibrous high strength concrete beams have increased the deflection and strain at failure load, improving the brittleness of the high strength concrete. (4) In this result of study, an additional study need to make a need formular because the study is different from ACI formular and Zsutty formular.
It is well-known that rectangular bulk-Si sensors prepared by etch or epi etch-stop micromachining technology are already in practical use today, but the conventional bulk-Si sensor shows some drawbacks such as large chip size and limited applications as silicon sensor device is to be miniaturized. We consider a circular-shape SOI(Silicon-On-Insulator) micro-cavity technology to facilitate multiple sensors on very small chip, to make device easier to package than conventional sensor like pressure sensor and to provide very high over-pressure capability. This paper demonstrates the cross-functional results for stress analyses(targeting $5{\mu}m$ deflection and 100MPa stress as maximum at various applicable pressure ranges), for finding permissible diaphragm dimension by output sensitivity, and piezoresistive sensor theory from two-type SOI structures where the double SOI structure shows the most feasible deflection and small stress at various ambient pressures. Those results can be compared with the ones of circular-shape bulk-Si based sensor$^{[17]}. The SOI micro-cavity formed the sensors is promising to integrate with calibration, gain stage and controller unit plus high current/high voltage CMOS drivers onto monolithic chip.

An inverse self-iterative procedure is developed to estimate layer moduli and stresses in cement concrete pavement systems from the falling weight deflectometer deflection basins. The existing concrete pavement highways are analyzed using coupled analysis procedure of finite element and layer elastic theory for models obtained through factorial design, from which the characteristics of deflection basins are studied and the empirical equations are proposed for the estimation of layer moduli. The empirical equations are used to assume initial moduli, and the relations between the rate of change of moduli and deflections are used in the self-iterative procedure to ensure accuracy of moduli. The developed computer program of this procedure is verified through various numerical model tests.
In this study a simple model is developed that predicts impact damage in a composite laminate avoiding the need of the time-consuming dynamic finite element method (FEM). The analytical model uses a non-linear approximation method (Rayleigh-Ritz) and the large deflection plate theory to predict the number of failed plies and damage area in a quasi-isotropic composite circular plate (axisymmetric problem) due to a point impact load at its centre. It is assumed that the deformation due to a static transverse load is similar to that oc curred in a low velocity impact. It is found that the model, despite its simplicity, is in good agreement with FEM predictions and experimental data for the deflection of the composite plate and gives a good estimate of the number of failed plies due to fibre breakage. The predicted damage zone could be used with a fracture mechanics model developed by the second investigator and co-workers to calculate the compression after impact strength of such laminates. This approach could save significant running time when compared to FEM solutions.

Prestressing is the most commonly employed technique in bridges and long span beams in commercial buildings as prestressing results in slender section with higher load carrying capacities. This work is an attempt to study the performance of a minimum weight prestressed concrete beam adopting a non-prismatic section so that there will be a reduction in the volume of concrete which in turn reduces the self-weight of the structure. The effect of adopting a non-prismatic section on parameters like prestressing force, area of prestressing steel, bending stresses, shear stresses and percentage loss of prestress are established theoretically. The analysis of non-prismatic prestressed beams is based on the assumption of pure bending theory. Equations are derived for dead load bending moment, eccentricity, and depth at any required section. Based on these equations an algorithm is developed which does the stress checks for the given section for every 500 mm interval of the span. Limit state method is used for the design of beam and finite difference method is used for finding out the deflection of a non-prismatic beam. All the parameters of nonprismatic prestressed concrete beams are compared with that of the rectangular prestressed concrete members and observed that minimum weight design and economical design are not same. Minimum weight design results in the increase in required area of prestressing steel.

An iterative modal analysis approach is developed to determine the effect of transverse open cracks on the dynamic behavior of simply supported pipe conveying fluid subject to the moving mass. The equation of motion Is derived by using Lagrange’s equation. The influences of the velocity of moving mass and the velocity of fluid flow and a crack have been studied on the dynamic behavior of a simply supported pipe system by numerical method. The presence of crack results In higher deflections of pipe. The crack section is represented by a local flexibility matrix connecting two undamaged beam segments i.e. the crack is modelled as a rotational spring. Totally. as the velocity of fluid flow and the crack severity are increased, the mid-span deflection of simply supported pipe conveying fluid Is Increased. The time which produce the maximum dynamic deflection of the simply supported pipe Is delayed according to the increment of the crack severity.
Channel girder bridges that consist of a deck slab and two side beams are good choices for railway bridges and urban rail transit bridges when the vertical clearance beneath the bridge is restricted. In this study, the behavior of simply supported channel girder bridges was theoretical studied based on the theory of elasticity. The accuracy of the theoretical solutions was verified by the finite element analysis. The global bending of the channel girder and the local bending of the deck slab are two contributors to the deformations and stresses of the channel girder. Because of the shear lag effect, the maximum deflection due to the global bending could be amplified by 1.0 to 1.2 times, and the effective width of the deck slab for determining the global bending stresses can be as small as 0.7 of the actual width depending on the width-to-span ratio of the channel girder. The maximum deflection and transversal stress due to the local bending are obtained at the girder ends. For the channel girders with open section side beams, the side beam twist has a negligible effect on the deflections and stresses of the channel girder. Simplified equations were also developed for calculating the maximum deformations and stresses.
